Chapter 1822: Atrokus’ Plans
Chapter 1822: Atrokus’ Plans

“So that red jewel was your Soul Treasure or something?” Chalk asked, glaring with fury. “Listen, whatever you are, I won’t show you any mercy!”
“I WOULDN’T WANT IT ANY OTHER WAY, LADY CHALK~! HAHAHAHAHA! NOW DIEEEEE!” Bellarine laughed viciously. Her five massive mouths charged energy and unleashed five draconic breath attacks at once; each made of concentrated poison ghost energy.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Chalk swung her thunderous swords with precision, cleaving the beams apart as explosions erupted everywhere. She transformed into white lightning and began zigzagging around her enemy, slashing relentlessly with her white lightning blades, carving through Bellarine’s materialized form.
SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!
Bellarine charged forward, seizing Chalk in midair with her giant claws and slamming her downward. She attacked with poison-coated talons, tearing at Chalk’s dress, trying to weaken her enough to devour her in one massive bite.
Chalk refused to become easy prey. She fought back fiercely, kicking Bellarine’s faces with thunderous strikes, then firing dozens of White Thunder Soul Swords. Hundreds impaled the Undead at once before detonating, blasting apart Bellarine’s body yet again.
“YOUUUU!”
“RAAAAHH!”
Bellarine and Chalk roared in savage fury, clashing relentlessly. Their attacks accumulated devastating damage, causing the battlefield beneath their feet to tremble violently, shaking as though the end of days had arrived.
RUMBLE!
“How foolish. I told them to remain calm and composed; to stay behind…” the giant made of countless bones sighed. “But they didn’t listen. Now they’re paying the price for their insolence and stupidity. Still, this works in my favor. With the two noblest nobles fighting them and buying me time, I can strike the city from within!”
Through the visible cracks in the barrier, he sent dozens of skeletons slipping inside. They crept through the buildings and began hunting her, the very reason for these battles, the one he had no intention of abandoning.
“Where are you, traitor? Where could you be hiding? Where could you—Oh?”
His ghostly eyes glowed brightly as he detected her location. She was running through the streets toward the monastery, accompanied by several friends. They were among the few still moving while everyone else evacuated or hid in shelters.
“There you are.”
.
.
.
Elayne watched Blank and Chalk charge into battle and hurried toward the monastery. As she ran, explosions and screams filled the air, along with their voices clashing against two powerful Undead. The collision of auras was immense, sending shivers down her spine with every massive blast. Though the distance was great, it felt as though everything was unfolding right in front of her.
Yet the more she ran, the deeper her frustration grew. The gap in power between her and these new enemies was overwhelming. No matter how hard she tried, she felt utterly useless. What good would changing her class do? She was so low-level compared to these monsters. How could she possibly help?
Hopelessness clawed at her. She had grown stronger alongside everyone else, but it still wasn’t enough. Could a class change really make a difference? Wasn’t all of this happening because of her? Wouldn’t the best outcome be for her to simply escape?
“Elayne, we’re almost there!” Mark said, resting his hands on her shoulders. “Please, don’t worry! Once we change classes, we’ll definitely be able to help.”
“But are we strong enough?” Elayne asked. “Those monsters are far stronger than Blazer ever was!”
“We’ll find a way. If we can’t take them down ourselves, we’ll support the troops, help them survive, and fight the undead army!” Mark replied.
“Yeah, Elayne, don’t look so down now. We’ll do it our own way!” Sailor added. “We just need to get there already—huh?!”
Sailor’s eyes widened as a strange bony protuberance erupted from the ground. It slowly opened, revealing a skeletal hand wrapped in a glowing phantasmal aura.
“The hell is that—WATCH OUT!”
Sailor rushed forward and shoved Elayne aside. The skeletal hand surged toward them, piercing his stomach and tearing through part of his spine.
“Kuuaaaagh?!”
The hand quickly wrapped around him, dragging him toward a hole in the ground. Elayne panicked and screamed.
“SAILOR!!!”
She drew Asteria and slashed the long skeletal arm apart, freeing Sailor from its grip. But dozens more skeletal hands—snake-like in form—burst from the earth.
They attacked relentlessly, trying to seize the group and pull them into the strange hole blocking their path to the monastery.
“What the hell is this?!” Norman shouted, swinging his fists and smashing the skeletal arms. “Damn it, they’re tough as steel!”
“Sailor! Hang in there!” Mark called, swinging his large blazing sword to burn and cut through the swarm of arms rushing at them.
“I’m fine! I’m a zombie after all—ugh…!” Sailor groaned. “I can’t stand… it fucking broke my spine…!”
“Don’t worry, I’ve got you!” Elayne said, lifting Sailor onto her back and infusing Death Essence into his body to speed his regeneration. “I’ll carry you!”
“W-What?! Elayne, don’t! Leave me behind! I’m nothing but a damn zombie—why do you care so much?!” Sailor asked.
“What?! Why wouldn’t I care?! You pushed me out of the way and took the hit for me!” Elayne replied, black tears falling from her eyes. “I would never abandon my family! And you, Sailor, are my precious family!”
“A-Ah…!” Sailor’s eyes widened as a flood of long-suppressed emotions overwhelmed him. His cold, dead heart could no longer beat, yet a warmth he had forgotten long ago stirred deep within his soul. “Elayne… you’re crazy…”
As Elayne ran, Shade emerged from her shadow, sending chains of darkness to halt dozens of skeletal arms. Sailor swung his fists at anything that slipped past her, unleashing storming shockwaves that resembled serpents made of seawater.
Elayne slashed with Asteria as fiercely as she could, carving a path toward the monastery. But more and more skeletal arms appeared, now joined by giant, car-sized skeletal hands, chasing them relentlessly.
“What the hell is going on?!” Yaga screamed from Norman’s shoulder, where he carried both her and little Lisette. “Who are these things?! How are they getting inside the city through the barrier?! This makes no sense—why are they targeting us specifically?!”
“Asking questions won’t solve anything, granny!” Norman snapped, clicking his tongue. “But it’s obvious this isn’t normal. We’re being hunted by an enemy that wants us dead—or kidnapped. I don’t know which!”
“Likely someone from the Demon King of Death’s army!” Elayne said. She swung her sword in a powerful horizontal arc, combining Life Essence with Asteria’s Starlight and infusing Spirit Energy to generate divine holy power. A massive slashing wave of sword energy erupted.
SLAAAASH!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
