Chapter 141: Wei Zhenxin
Chapter 141: Chapter 141: Wei Zhenxin
The young woman blinked, dumbfounded by his word then twitched her lips.
“Master, I told you to look for the perfect time for my, Wei Zhenxin breakthrough…. not the fate of the world…”
Seeing his disciple pouting,
Immortal Jiuming lowered his hand onto his wooden staff and sighed.
“It is… somewhat related to your breakthrough.”
Her interest immediately returned. “What do you mean, Master ?”
It wasn’t that she didn’t care about the world as she simply understood that nothing in this world lasted forever, and worrying about distant matters would only exhaust her needlessly.
Immortal Jiuming hesitated for a moment, then finally decided to reveal the truth.
“You have two choices. The first is to break through now, and then we continue our journey to distant lands. The second… is to break through after you leave the secret realm.”
Wei Zhenxin tilted her head slightly, puzzled by the distinction.
Seeing her confusion, Immortal Jiuming continued.
“A secret realm will open in less than a month. I have already divined one of its random portals, and it will only allow those below the Foundation Establishment Realm to enter. Inside lies a tremendous opportunity for you… but also contain one of the seed of this continent’s calamity.”
Hearing the words “Calamity”
Wei Zhenxin’s expression sharpened, any remaining playfulness instantly vanishing.
“Master… are you saying many people will suffer because of this calamity ?”
Immortal Jiuming sighed.
He knew his disciple’s virtuous heart could never ignore such a disaster once she heard of it.
“Yes. The entire regions will be devastated… and even one of the so-called major righteous sects will fall.”
Then,
Silence settled between them.
To Wei Zhenxin, the idea of the great sects she admired being destroyed meant only one thing….. the entire region would fall into chaos, and countless tragedies would unfold.
Her hand unconsciously tightened as unpleasant memories resurfaced.
Immortal Jiuming simply watched her, waiting for her decision…..though he already knew the answer.
And as expected, a determined voice soon broke through the stillness.
“Master, I, Wei Zhenxin, may be weak… but I will never run away again. I won’t allow another tragedy to unfold before my eyes. So I choose the second option…. I will destroy this calamity.”
Immortal Jiuming smiled wryly at her resolve.
’As expected of my disciple… Well, if worst comes to worst, I’ll just exert myself and sleep a bit longer.’
Outwardly, he nodded.
’Well said. As seekers of immortality, we must always follow our hearts. I won’t stop you.”
Then a gentle smile touched his lips.
“And worry not, the calamity within the secret realm is still only a seed. If you handle it properly, you can destroy it easily, and the opportunity inside will be yours.”
Wei Zhenxin’s eyes lit up when she heard this.
She had vowed to never to run from injustice or evil ever again, so the easier it was to erase this calamity, the better it would be for her.
But before she could speak further, her master lifted his finger and lightly tapped her forehead.
Wei Zhenxin immediately lost consciousness, and the last thing she heard was her master’s dignified voice,
“…But at the very least, you should know what you’ll be confronting.”

Wei Zhenxin blinked as her vision blurred from the sudden poke.
When her sight refocused, she found out that she was no longer with her master.
Instead, she stood in the middle of a vast, silent forest.
’…Huh? Snow?’
Beautiful cold flakes drifted down from a pale sky, settling gently on her robes.
She turned and look around the surrounding slowly.
Everything around her was blanketed in white…. the earth, the branches, even the air felt frozen, as though she stood in the heart of a frozen world.
Then her breath caught.
As not far from her… stood the frozen statues of dozen people.
Wei Zhenxin slowly made her way toward the frozen statues.
But the moment she got closer, her eyes widened as she noticed they weren’t statues at all… but corpses.
Frozen solid, encased in translucent ice.
She stepped closer, and soon recognizing the robes on the nearest figure inside the ice.
’Azure Moon Sect…? And that one….Heavenly Sword Sect?
Her gaze swept across the field.
There were more.
Dozens of them.
Both disciples and elders from four out of the Five Major Sects, all eternally frozen at the moment of their last breath here.
And all of them…..without a single exception were turned toward the same direction.
Wuuuuuu…
A fierce cold wind flew across her, and she subconsciously covered her face as strange chill scrawled up her spine.
Slowly, she followed their collective gaze.
And then she saw it….
A colossal figure rested atop a shattered glacier at the end of the frozen field so vast it nearly blended into the storm.
A huge, majestic white bird could be seen,
Its feathers resembled layers of flawless crystal snow, each plume shimmering with a soft, pale-blue glow.
Elegant white plumage draped down like flowing silk, while faint frost mist curled from its wings like gentle breaths.
Its long tail feathers cascaded in icy arcs behind it, glowing with an ethereal, sacred brilliance.
Even while resting, its presence pressed against the world…..with it majestic, ancient, and unbearably powerful aura.
A crown of ice-blue crystalline horns adorned its head, and its closed eyes radiated a cold so profound that space itself seemed to freeze around it.
’…A Phoenix?’
Wei Zhenxin’s heart thumped violently at the sight of the majestic, divine bird.
Its appearance somewhat matched the descriptions of a legendary phoenix she had heard countless times in old stories.
But instead of being surrounded in crimson flames, this one seemed to be …. cloaked in ice.
Then her heartbeat quickened as she saw the scene clearer…
Because that divine creature… was bowing.
Bowing reverently toward a lone figure standing beneath it.
A young woman with pure white hair cascading freely down her back, long and silky like a river of winter light.
Even though Wei Zhenxin could only see her back, instinct told her that this woman was breathtakingly beautiful and so ethereal that she barely seemed like someone from the mortal world.
The white-haired woman tilted her head slightly, as though sensing something—
…and slowly turned her body, meeting Wei Zhenxin’s gaze directly.
“….!”
A pair of cold, emotionless golden eyes stared straight into hers.

Meanwhile, Immortal Jiuming was lost in thought, waiting for his disciple to finish.
What he had shown her was only one of the calamities this continent would face.
He hadn’t revealed the ’Burning Dynasty’, the ’Fallen Light’, or the ’Corrupted Divine Dragon’, fearing that his stubborn, righteous disciple might try to eradicate everything on her own…and by then, it would be too late to escape.
To be honest, it wasn’t the calamities themselves that worried him.
He had lived far too long and witnessed countless worlds collapse.
Floods, demonic tides, heavenly punishments, sect wars… these were nothing in his eyes, merely events that bound to occur in any world.
What truly unsettled him…
What chilled even his immortal soul…
…were those things.
“…To think those ’World Cancers’ have already infiltrated this plane,” he muttered.
His expression grew solemn.
“What in the name of the Nine Heavens were those old fogeys doing after I died…? Playing tea and chess while the roots of corruption crept in under their nose ?”
He knew that even though the continent they were on was just a small piece at the edge of this world.
But he also knew that this world, this vast cultivation realm, was no ordinary middle-world.
It was a truly Great World, one blessed with countless interconnected Daos, a place where spiritual veins ran like rivers and karma pooled in oceans.
A realm molded by eras of Immortals, layered with forgotten destinies.
With so much fortune…
So many karmic nodes…
So many sacred lands…
He wouldn’t even be surprised if a Sovereign might one day be born from here.
… Which was exactly why they needed to protect it even more.
Yet here they were…
It should have been impossible for such parasitic abominations to appear, even in trace form.
“Maybe that’s why the fortune on this small continent is off the charts… the world itself must have sensed something amiss. That’s why it concentrated all the fortune here.”
Immortal Jiuming couldn’t help but think so, especially with a Celestial-Grade Special Physique born in his disciple.
Even for an immortal like him, he had never seen one in person…. only heard of them in ancient, long-forgotten times.
’The world must be preparing to nurture its genius to counter those things…’
But he sighed.
’It’s already too late. A genius also needs time to grow.’
Even though it was just a small trace, he had clearly sensed it and already foresaw the downfall of this small continent….likely to be consumed in less than two hundred years.
And two hundred years wasn’t enough for a genius strong enough to turn the tide to fully grow.
To mortals, two hundred years was an era.
To sects, a generation.
But to immortals like him… it was nothing more than a short nap.
’Did something happen after I died?’ he couldn’t help but wonder.
His fingers subconsciously tightened around his spectral staff and also make up his mind.
“I need to bring my disciple out of this continent after the secret realm…”
Even though escaping this land would only be temporary solution as the encroaching threat wouldn’t stop at this small continent, but continue to spread until the entire world was consumed.
But at the very least his disciple would have a chance to grow, to survive.
He exhaled slowly, looking at his cheerful disciple who standing straight with her eye close.
So young.
So bright.
And so naively heroic.
She had no idea what was coming for her world.
…And he did not dare tell her.

After a while, Immortal Jiuming sensed that Wei Zhenxin was slowly waking up.
Her eyelashes trembled before her eyes opened.
“…”
Seeing the silence and the complicated look on her face, Immortal Jiuming couldn’t help but smile.
He had shown her the countless tragic scenes, …. the disasters that would follow once the calamity within that secret realm fully matured.
So he wasn’t surprised that his righteous disciple was angry.
“So” he asked calmly, “do you understand what must be done?”
Wei Zhenxin exhaled softly and nodded.
“…Yes, Master. Thank you for showing me that. Now I know…”
Her eyes sharpened, burning with firm resolve.
“… who I need to kill.”
