Chapter 1991: Let’s Start!
Chapter 1991: Let’s Start!
Tang Shaoyang returned to his routine once more after setting up the Tang Garden. The effect of the Essence of Tranquility Breathing became more apparent.
Vandir also pointed out that he became cooler-headed than before. The fact that he did not kill all the invaders of the Tang Garden was proof. He chose to let them go instead, even though he ended up killing them all.
The Death King pointed out that if it were before the cultivation, he would kill them the moment they threatened him. The fact that he maintained his composure and no longer had an impulse to kill those people was an improvement. If those invaders had not tried to make a foolish scheme and listened, they would have survived.
There was some truth in Vandir’s words. If it were the old him, he would kill them and be done with it. Killing them was as easy as swinging his hand, so he would not have a second thought about killing them. The fact that he spared them was indeed an improvement instead of falling into his impulsive thoughts.
Time passed as he maintained his daily cultivation routine and visited Tang Garden every day. The improvement of the Tang Garden was significant. They had not reached the three-star reputation rating they targeted, but they were on schedule.
Of course, the project drained his money. The Tang Garden had used more than 600 million in ten days. They spent the budget at an alarming rate, but Tang Shaoyang was satisfied to see the progress for every daily check-in.
Liora managed to create three recipes and created a food production so they did not rely on stores to buy food for the Beast Spirit. It still required funds to buy the ingredients, but they managed to create a food that tasted better and was also more nutritious than the ones in the store.
The lucky Beast Spirit was: The Diamonian Rabbit, The Crimson Mist, and The Void Sparrow. Liora told him they were not as picky as the other beast spirits, which was where Liora focused on them first.
Not only did they have better food, but the beast spirit had a better home. All the Beast Spirits were satisfied with their new home. Thanks to his workers’ effort, all his Beast Spirits’ bonds increased at least by one level.
Just as Vandir predicted, the bond level actually increased the bonus attribute. Some doubled the bonus attribute, and a few tripled the bonus attributes. It was hard to find out how this bonus worked since he already had twenty Beast Spirits.
That was his daily routine until the promised fifteen-day period was over. Tang Shaoyang stood on the floating island, welcoming the morning sun. His eyes locked on the barrier as he noticed that the barrier became unstable and weakened each day.
His guess about the Thousand Halls powered the barrier, which proved to be true. The moment the Thousand Halls disappeared, the barrier weakened. Not just that, his Chaos Eyes caught the movement of Calamity outside the city.
Various kinds of Calamities crept up and crowded the area. The barrier not only acted as a protection, but also drove Calamity away from the city. With the barrier weakened, the Calamity became bolder and bolder, slowly approaching the city.
Even though the barrier effect was weakened, the Calamity still did not dare to approach the city. The calamities kept their distance from the city, still wary of it.
“It’s time to leave…”
The codex said that one of the Thousand Vows Pavilion’s treasuries was in the city, but it was ransacked clean already. He made sure that he did not miss anything last night, and he was ready to depart after ensuring the city was clean.
Tang Shaoyang licked his upper lip, “It’s time to hunt…” His eyes moved around, trying to pick a direction, choosing who would be his first prey.
Before he could make the decision, his eyes picked up two figures that moved around at the entrance of the city. He thought the other administrators might find this place, but he quickly realized that was almost impossible.
The only two administrators who could reach this place were Clementine and Arion. If they were interested in the class, they would be here already. If the two figures were not Clementine and Arion, then they might be from other factions.
He zoomed in and found out who these two individuals were who ran around the entrance frantically. The two figures were the stone statues at the entrance. One statue ran up and down on the road, and the second statue walked back and forth on the gate.
Tang Shaoyang found the scene amusing. It looked like the two golems were alive, not something like a programmed robot. He wondered what made them act like this, and his figure moved toward the entrance.
“We are dead! We are dead! It’s over for us! It’s over for us!” The stone statue that ran up and down kept muttering those words. The second statue walked back and forth in a solemn silence, in deep thought.
Tang Shaoyang recognized the running statue. It was the one who attacked him and had its spear destroyed.
“Yo, what’s up, guys!”
The two statues froze as they looked up into the air, not expecting someone alive to actually greet them.
“You are still alive!?” The first statue sounded surprised to see Tang Shaoyang again.
“Apparently.”
“We are in a dire situation, Sir. We noticed the barrier is weakening and the foul calamities are approaching. We should be fine if it’s just ten or twenty calamities, but the calamity is coming in a swarm. It would be hard for us to defend the city.”
The second statue was calmer than the first.
Tang Shaoyang realized that these two statues might be developing a personality. He could tell the opposite personality, or maybe they created it this way. One thing was for sure: these two were more than just a robot guard. They were alive.
“I know, and I think it’s because the Thousand Halls disappeared after I inherited the codex. I think you don’t have to protect the city anymore.”
The second statue sounded confident to win against ten calamities. That meant they were strong enough to survive. As long as they left the city, they could survive. But they would die if they stubbornly defended the city.
“You passed the trial!?” The first statue sounded shocked to hear the news. He moved up and held Tang Shaoyang’s shoulders, “Does that mean you are the new Grandmaster of the Thousand Vows Pavilion?”
“I don’t think I am one of the Grandmasters yet. I just started my cultivation, and yes, you can leave the city. The barrier will dissipate in a few days. You two will be swarmed if you don’t leave the city.”
The first statue released its grip on Tang Shaoyang as his shoulder slumped. The same with the second statue, its shoulder also slumped down.
“We are created to guard the city. That’s the purpose of our creation. Even if we could leave, where should we go? We don’t have a place to go. I guess this is the end of purpose.”
The second statue calmed down and faced toward where the calamities were. The Calamities were still far from the city, but they were visible to the naked eye. If not for the barrier, the city would be swarmed already.
The second statue accepted its fate and was ready to die in fighting the calamity, fulfilling its purpose. However, the first statue had a different reaction.
“Please save us, Sir. We can be useful to you. Please bring us away from this accursed world!” The first statue was on his knees, holding Tang Shaoyang’s right leg, begging for his life.
Tang Shaoyang squinted his eyes at the first statue, but then he thought of something, “I can use your service somewhere…” He turned toward the second statue, “What about you? I can bring you out of this place.”
“There’s no need to ask him, Sir. If I leave, then he will as well. We are a package!” The first statue stood up and dragged the flabbergasted second statue.
Tang Shaoyang did not wait for the second statue to answer him as he brought them into the Tang Garden. This would be a test of whether he could bring a sentient being into the Tang Garden before bringing his daughters.
It worked well and left the two statues in the Tang Garden, telling them that their new job was to protect the garden. He felt it was his responsibility to take care of the remains of the Thousand Vows Pavilion. That was why he brought them to the Tang Garden.
“Alright, I have taken care of everything, right?”
Tang Shaoyang activated his Chaos Eyes to ensure that there was nothing left behind in the city. He did not know how everything worked, but once he cleared this world of the calamity. The System would use this world to expand the God Realm.
He did not know whether it would remain, or the System shaped this as a new one for the God Realm. That was why he made sure no valuables were left behind or living sentient beings like the two guard statues.
After ensuring everything was safe, Tang Shaoyang activated his Bloodline Transformation. Then he followed with Spirit Summoning. He summoned all spirits except the one spirit that followed his team.
189 Archaic Spirits filled the space at the entrance. Doombringer stepped onto the gate as he let out a roar.
“Let’s start the cleansing!”
Doombringer was the first one to jump out of the crowd of spirits with a deafening roar. He did not care if his target was his kind. All he wanted was a battle, a fight.
