Aspiring to the Immortal Path

Chapter 1264: Fake Sky, False Sun

The battle between Queen Sinflower and the North Sea Divine Lord had begun to intensify. When their titanic waves clashed, an even greater flood of spiritual energy would be unleashed, forcing the spectators back even more.

The pressure had gradually thickened so much that it was suffocating.

After several dozen days of relaxation, everyone started to tense up. There had been no notification, but anyone with some sense could tell that the situation was changing.

The demons had restarted their offensive, clearly no longer planning to maintain the stalemate.

The first to move out was the Indigo Demon Legion under Nine Disaster, slowly circling around the flank of the court’s armies to create an encirclement.

Then, some of the Demon Lords started to inch closer to the battleground of Queen Sinflower and the North Sea Divine Lord.

The Sage Mother saw all of this, laughing, “What? Want to start the all-out war now? But isn’t it rather impolite to sneak over without the slightest word?”

Ancestor Lifeless laughed, “Have we ever announced ourselves before? Besides, this is the battlefield, where we kill each other, not go around saying ‘hello’. Just die already!”

He waved his hands, sending a wave of energy at the North Sea Divine Lord.

While the North Sea Divine Lord was a peak True Immortal, his strength was not to be underestimated. Killing him would be a major blow to the other side, so Ancestor Lifeless attacked with everything he had.

Seeing this, the Sage Mother summoned a gentle breeze. “I knew you demons couldn’t be trusted.

This harmonious breeze caressed the soul, making one grow lazy and robbing one’s will to fight.

Ancestor Lifeless immediately gathered his focus and swiftly shook off its effects.

But this sort of formless attack was something he couldn’t defend himself against, despite his desire to. The Sage Mother simply summoned more breezes to caress him.

This breeze was easy for Ancestor Lifeless to resist at first.

But as time passed and one breeze came after another, the sense of laziness grew stronger and stronger, as if it was accumulating, and by the end, Ancestor Lifeless was on the verge of falling asleep.

As an Immortal, he had long ago transcended mortal needs, including sleeping. This ability was truly bizarre, to render him so sleepy. If this continued, he would eventually fall to the Sage Mother’s Divine Connection, so he shouted, “Disperse!”

A rainbow light surged out.

The Sage Mother sighed, “Too bad, too bad.”

She was saddened over the fact that Ancestor Lifeless had noticed just a little too early.

Her Blissful Breeze had the power to degrade one’s will and grind away at the desire to fight, and it could grow endlessly in power. So long as she was given enough time, even a Saint Immortal would have their will ground away and fall into slumber, a lamb to be slaughtered.

Of course, the Sage Mother hadn’t hoped to reach that point. Being intoxicated to a certain point would also affect all the Divine Connections and Immortal Arts her opponent used, which was enough.

The Sage Mother always used this move in her battles, damaging her opponents without making a single wound. And when she ran into those who didn’t dare to attack her because of her Twin Karma Lotus, she could use it without fear.

Just now, she had been on the verge of reaching the first threshold, but Ancestor Lifeless had been too vigilant and decisive, immediately breaking her art.

Sighing, the Sage Mother used her Twin Karma Lotus so that the rainbow light was reflected back at Ancestor Lifeless.

Ancestor Lifeless, as the user of the rainbow light, naturally knew how powerful it was.

He immediately threw up a screen of light which blocked the attack, and at the same time, he summoned even more streams of light to assail the Sage Mother from all sides.

Alas, no matter how he attacked, the Sage Mother had a way to reflect the rainbow streams of light, which forced Ancestor Lifeless to block them. It appeared as if Ancestor Lifeless was fighting with himself, the Sage Mother only needing a wave of the hand to run him ragged.

If this kept up, Ancestor Lifeless would probably lose to the Sage Mother.

But this war was never about being fair.

As Ancestor Lifeless took action, countless demons howled and charged into a fray, a dark tide mercilessly crashing into the court’s vanguard.

The demons had finally revealed their savage selves.

At the same time, the Immortal armies stationed on the court also began to move out.

“Halt!” the Ancient Stellar Devil roared.

He appeared in the rear of the court’s armies, raising his hands high and creating a river of starlight that separated the court from the Gigantes Domain.

With the court cut off, the demons could focus their full power on annihilating the army on the Gigantes Domain.

Tang Jie couldn’t help but chuckle. “Interesting. Even demons have learned how to divide and conquer.”

The demons had always relied on their massive armies, overwhelming strength, and fearless dispositions, regarding things like tactics and strategy with disdain. In their view, these were the tools of the weak, unfit to be used by the strong.

But the Immortal Emperor forced them to finally change their stubborn ways. Whether it was via his glorious battle record from ten thousand years ago or the recent setback he had inflicted on the demons, he had proven himself a formidable and terrifying foe that had the demons making the rare decision to use some tactics. While they were so simple as to be embarrassing in Tang Jie’s eyes, it could already be considered a great step for demonkind.

And amazingly, it succeeded.

The river of starlight succeeded in stopping the charge of the court’s main force. Anyone that charged into the starlight would first become lost in that infinite expanse, and then would be slaughtered by an endless barrage of starlight.

The Nebula River was the Ancient Stellar Devil’s secret innate art. When he was allowed to pull it off, it was extremely difficult to undo, and so powerful that it allowed one devil to singlehandedly hold off the court’s main army.

Meanwhile, the demons had finished their encirclement of the court’s army on the Gigantes Domain, and the battle swiftly tipped in the favor of the Primordial Fog Domain.

In the Buddhist hall, a demon-stained energy was growing stronger, painting the entire building in darkness.

That monk with Nine Disaster’s face laughed, “After ten thousand years, this old man is finally free, hahahaha!”

What?

Tang Zixi was stunned.

The demonic monk strode over while reaching out his hand. “Give me the book!”

Tang Zixi immediately drew her hand back, evading the grab. “Just who are you? You can’t be Nine Disaster. He’s overseeing the war in the Gigantes Domain, so he can’t have been hibernating here.”

“‘Nine Disaster’?” The mention of this name caused the monk’s eyes to gleam with murder. “That damned bastard isn’t dead yet? Yes, this body seems to have some memory of it. It seems…”

The monk clutched his head in thought.

Tang Zixi seized this opportunity to store the book in her Divine Palace, and then she formed a hand sign, not to attack, but to send out a message.

This was due to her cautious nature. Tang Xuanyu would have struck first.

Once she had sent her message, she sighed in relief. Meanwhile, the monk seemed to have found the memory he was looking for, muttering, “Ah, I understand now. He’s still not dead yet, and he actually managed to become a Demon Sovereign? But he still hasn’t conquered the Gigantes Domain, not yet… haha, HAHA, AHAHAHAHA!”

The monk threw his head back and laughed.

Tang Zixi’s face darkened as she formed the Evil Punishing Seal in her left hand and the Righteous Radiance Art in her right—both means of suppressing demons. “Just who exactly are you?”

“‘Who am I’?” The monk’s eyes began to glow red as he roared, “I’m Nine Disaster, of course! Who else could I be? I AM NINE DISASTER!”

These last words were shouted so loudly that they rendered Tang Zixi’s message unnecessary, resounding in all directions.

Sirens blared throughout Thousand Sorrows Temple as countless monks ran over.

But the monk turned his head and shouted, “Scram!”

His voice rang out like a bell that seemed to resonate with the chants of countless Buddhas, creating a great flood of power that blocked all the monks.

The monk then bellowed, “Give me the book!”

“Don’t even think about it!” Tang Zixi backed away.

She hadn’t been sure of that monk’s cultivation at first, but with that roar, she had confirmed that the monk was at least at Immortal Platform.

This was not someone she could take at her current cultivation level.

But how had Pureheart’s body been able to hide such immense power?

Tang Zixi didn’t understand.

At this moment, the monk thrust out a clawed hand at Tang Zixi.

Tang Zixi threw out the Evil Punishing Seal and Righteous Radiance Art. One was the supreme art Tang Jie had developed in the Nether Domain and the other was an art that had passed down through Horizon Ocean Pavilion for ten thousand years, and together, they just barely managed to fend off the monk’s claw. The sacred light of the Evil Punishing Seal even managed to affect the monk, melting away a large chunk of his face and causing him to howl in pain.

Tang Zixi saw a black fog gathering over the monk’s head, transforming into the form of a young monk—Pureheart.

“Pureheart?” Tang Zixi shouted. She saw Pureheart struggling in pain. Behind him was a black hole which was threatening to suck Pureheart up.

Seeing this, Tang Zixi finally understood what was going on. “Cycles of Reincarnation… ten thousand years… Violet Palace and Immortal Platform… The Fake Sky, False Sun Immortal Art!”

The monk froze.
