Chapter 1351: The Burning
Chapter 1351: The Burning
Atticus had once again appeared high in the skies of Eldoralth. Though this time around, the world was not the same as before.
The past few weeks had been all but boring. He had increased the talents of Ember, Caldor, Nate, along with the rest of the four stars.
Now, Lyanna, Sirius, and Nathan had become paragons of their respective elements. It would have been a cause for celebration in the old world. But in the new, it was almost an everyday occurrence.
The title Paragon didn’t hold nearly as much weight as it once did. Now, one had to be an Eldorian to have any say in the happenings of the planet. Yet even this title was starting to be left behind.
The Eldorians had been exposed to the middle planes. They’d seen how useless and weak they were compared to the people of true power, the ones who wielded their wills as weapons.
During the past weeks, the Eldorians had been training, and none had been able to awaken and join the willpath of the Burning.
Because of this, Atticus had hastened the work he had on the world. He had attended the Will Hall these past few weeks and had been glad that nothing worth mentioning occurred.
‘Though there’s that woman.’
The Redflame woman who sat in the front row of class. Scaela Solmar, daughter of a Marquis, as his new “friend” Lazio had told him.
Atticus had yet to understand her obsession with him. She only ever stared. He could feel her gaze on him most of the time he spent at the Will Hall, but she had never spoken or even approached him.
“Maybe she likes you,” Lazio had suggested. Since their first meeting, they had seen more of each other afterwards.
Though Lazio never walked with him in public, he always waited outside the castle after class ended.
Their meetings had followed the same pattern. Lazio trying to win Atticus over by giving him information about the other gods, and Atticus responding bluntly, eyes cold.
Still, that didn’t seem to stop Lazio, and Atticus couldn’t help but admire his persistence. It was through him he learned things he hadn’t been able to discover even in the library. Useful things.
Regardless, Lazio always encouraged Atticus to invite him over to his world for tea. Atticus firmly refused, every single time.
He couldn’t help but draw similarities to Nerrot. Was tea some secret slang for something? He resolved to find out.
Still, the happenings of the Will Hall were nothing compared to the chaos of the new Eldoralth.
Nerrot’s world had given him more headaches than he’d have ever liked. Even after enslaving the higher ups and handing the reins over to Oberon and the rest of the Eldorians, the problems only intensified.
The people still raged despite abolishing their Redflame will path. Money and valuables had vanished suddenly. Generational wealth, life savings, livelihoods, all gone in the blink of an eye. There was only one person to blame.
The new god. Atticus Ravenstein.
The thief.
That was what they called him. The streets had been filled with people raging, roaring his name at the top of their lungs, cursing and hurling insults.
Atticus had discovered this before Oberon reported it and acted instantly. He created a new unified value system across the world.
As a god, it was easy to determine where resources had been taken from and how much. He replaced the value of the will stones with points that anyone could use to purchase what they needed.
It took some time for this system to integrate, and even now, some still denied it, especially those who needed resources for more than monetary purposes.
But it silenced most of the riots and anger. Afterwards, Atticus asked Oberon to build on the system and figure out a way to make it better.
Now, he had gotten rid of the Redflame will completely from the planet, leaving only the resources piled up in his storage.
Aside from what he had taken from the people, he had also ransacked all the warships and seized their cores.
Some of the warship engineers still remained, and the Emberforge and dwarven Eldorians had begun to uncover how the ships operated. They would soon begin building their own versions.
With all of this settled, Atticus decided to leave the planet for the Willess World today. There was an undeniable need to hasten the awakening of the Eldorians.
“Ready?” Whisker appeared by his side, asking.
Atticus nodded with a sigh, glancing towards Ozeroth and Kancilot. The latter accompanied them because of his earlier request to be his bodyguard.
The thought of bodyguards made him remember Yotad and Arya, but he decided to leave it for another day.
Kancilot was one of the very few who could leave the planet and withstand the plane will.
‘He’s also awakened his will.’ Atticus scrutinized him carefully. The former god had joined the will training along with his circle. Of all of them, only he had awakened and joined the will path.
The Burning.
This was the name Atticus had given his will path. Ozeroth had called it unworthy. Whisker had called it lazy.
Though Kancilot still hadn’t gone past the first stage, awareness, it was still a significant achievement.
‘His demeanor has also changed.’
Atticus noticed it almost instantly. Kancilot had gone from a pitiful but honorable king to a calm man with a constant cold mask.
‘He’s like me.’ Atticus had to admit.
‘Is this how everyone will turn out?’
He’d asked Whisker the same question a few days ago when he first saw Kancilot. Whisker had only shrugged. “More or less,” he had said.
‘More or less.’ Atticus wasn’t sure how he felt about that. An army of calm, cold soldiers who could erupt at any moment…
Atticus shook his head. ‘Until then.’ For now, he focused on the mission.
“Let’s go.”
With a wave, they vanished from the hill and appeared in the skies of the capital city of the new Eldoralth.
