Chapter 1481 Last Territory
Chapter 1481 Last Territory
The next territory turned out to also belong to the Redflames. But Atticus had taken Magnus’ advice to heart and had only stopped to kill the territory lord.
He left for the next territory almost immediately.
As time passed, Atticus visited different territories only to discover each of them led by Redflames. Killing their lord, he turned into a streak and left for the next.
During this time, the Redflame army only grew in size and might. The remnants of the Redflames in each territory joined the main army led by Emberion and Prya.
Their pursuit of Atticus was relentless, raining down fiery attacks the moment they sighted him.
Only ashes and devastation were left in the wake of their march, yet they did not pause.
On the back lines of the Redflame army, Emberion and Prya stood in front of a large map displaying the entire region. Other viscounts stood a distance away, wanting to be nowhere near the impending battle between siblings.
“We can’t keep doing this, brother! We’re watching him while he slaughters our people!”
Prya’s eyes burned crimson as she glared at her brother. Emberion, in contrast, ppeared much calmer. His cold eyes were fixed on the large map display in front of him.
“Emberion!”
He exhaled through his nose.
“What?”
“Did you not hear what I just said? We need to confront him!”
“We’ll lose.”
Prya’s expression darkened, and she gritted her teeth.
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“If we fight him head on, we’ll lose.” He turned toward his sister. “Is that what you want?”
Prya’s will erupted like a volcano, flooding the space in scorching heat. The other viscounts immediately retreated, shielding themselves.
But Prya’s fury stayed fixed on her brother.
“There is no universe where that infant beats me,” Steam burst from Emberion’s nostrils. He looked impatient.
“Listen, Prya. I understand your rage. The death of our brothers and sisters disgusts me too. But anger won’t win this. Strategy will.”
He pointed at the map.
“He’s been moving from territory to territory, killing only the lords. From that alone, his objective is clear. He’s either trying to increase his awareness and take over the region, or he’s looking for non Redflame gods to kill and get stronger. It could very well be both.”
“Exactly!” Prya snarled. “Which is why we should—”
“Prya.”
Prya huffed but fell silent at his stern voice.
“Trust,” Emberion said quietly. “You need to trust me. It’s the only way this works.”
He tapped a specific territory on the map, and Prya’s eyes narrowed at it. Emberion finally smiled. “If you trust me… when he steps into this territory, I’ll make sure he grovels at our feet.”
In the middle of the scorched forest, Prya dropped silent as Emberion began to outline his plan.
…
‘Redflames again.’
Atticus stared at the territory below him. It was the seventh territory since he started his run, and it’d turned out to be owned by the Redflames.
‘Looks like my assumption was right.’
He hadn’t seen even a single god from another faction since. Not even a stray.
‘They’ve taken over the region and killed all others.’
Atticus exchanged a tense glance with Magnus and Kiara before glancing at the slumbering princess in his arms. Even now, she held him tight, as though she didn’t want to let him go.
‘I’ll need to adjust my next move.’
His goal had slowly shifted from finding other gods and killing them, to killing the lord of each territory to expand his reach.
Right now, Atticus’ passive awareness had increased to an unimaginable amount. Even without being its lord, he could feel every part of this territory.
Asides this, he could feel the vast territories he’d conquered.
‘I’ll finish mapping the region soon. I need to start hitting back soon.’
With the region mapped, he could easily react to any sudden surprises. Especially if a truly strong foe appeared.
Right now, he would get rid of the army on his tail, then determine his next move from then on.
Atticus quickly found the territory lord and killed him before leaving for the next territory.
Though his movement around the region seemed random, it wasn’t. He’d moved in a circular pattern in order to fully grasp all parts of the region.
The next territory after this was the last one in the circle.
‘One more.’
Atticus’ eyes blazed, and he surged with even more speed. He soon reached the next territory, perched high on a cliffside.
As he reached the skies above the city, he squinted his eyes.
‘They’re gathered in the middle,’ he noted.
Without wasting time, he appeared in the middle of the territory, fixing his eyes on the Redflame members gathered below.
“You’re finally here!”
Atticus wasn’t surprised that he was found out easily. He’d captured a total of eight territories, nine if one counted the one in the baron layer. Right now, the nine territorial beacons shone behind him brightly. Anyone would see him coming from a mile away.
Still, Atticus narrowed his eyes.
‘Finally…’
Why did it sound like they were expecting him? He scanned the territory once more.
‘Only a few Redflames around the city…’
There wasn’t anyone who could pose any threat to him present in the city, or beyond it.
Atticus fixed his eyes on the one who’d just spoken. It was a beautiful woman with a fiery gaze and scorching presence.
“I am Prya,” she said, eyes burning, “Consider yourself fortunate. Not many are worth the trouble of my personal attention.”
‘She’s strong. But I don’t feel any threat coming from her.’
Nor from any gods in the territory, for that matter.
Atticus gripped his blade and fixed his eyes on the beacon shining behind her.
‘I should kill her and begin my attack on the army.’
Atticus’ will flared violently around him and he prepared to move when the woman’s eyes blazed.
“Do it!”
Multiple pillars rose into the sky from different parts of the city. They exploded as they reached the sky, before unfurling into a radiant dome that encompassed the entire city.
‘They’re trying to trap us.’
Atticus tore skyward, surging toward the dome. His katana flashed, unleashing a blinding slash that split the skies.
However, his eyes narrowed the next moment as his attack simply phased through it.
‘An art?’
His eyes flashed gold as he tried to peer through the art.
‘It’s a normal shield. Why didn’t the attack wo—’
Atticus’ eyes widened as he realized.
‘Only gods and gods can fight. My attacks can’t affect champion abilities.’
His mind ran fast.
‘The dome won’t affect me or the princess since we’re gods. We can leave. But…’
Atticus glanced toward Magnus and Kiara, expression hardening.
‘I’ll have to abandon them.’
