Chapter 1529: Convergence
Chapter 1529: Convergence
Luckily, the vast expanse didn’t have air that could echo shockwaves, but that didn’t make the event any less majestic or dangerous.
The celestial body exploded into fuming, pyroclastic-like material that flew everywhere through space, with many dangerous pieces of debris heading toward the ship.
The Leviathan-class vessel was in no condition to defend itself. The mana barrier was still miraculously active, but so was the spinning motion, preventing the ship from stabilizing or relying on its weapons’ targeting systems.
Khan had predicted a similar outcome, so he had hovered in front of the massive spinning ship, his raging mana still surrounding his figure. Sparks promptly condensed inside that aura-like energy, releasing several blinding flashes that headed for the incoming debris.
Attacks so fast only Khan and the Emperor could see unfolded in space, causing silent crashes that eradicated the incoming debris. That instantaneous destruction also updated Khan on the pyroclastic-like material, confirming his initial guess.
That big moon, or tiny planet, was indeed made of True Chaos, seemingly replicating what Khan had absorbed in the Nak’s home world. Despite the different energies, the similarities were undeniable, highlighting that lasting connection.
The True Chaos’ God might have surpassed the mana, becoming its rightful evolution. However, traits of that original energy had remained, almost acting as an unshakable legacy.
The scouts, warriors, Kings, and even bloated-backed creatures were different iterations of the Nak. The True Chaos was a superior but similar energy to the mana. Even that pocket universe was nothing more than a bigger, more majestic version of the Nak’s home world.
It seemed the apple hadn’t fallen far from the tree, but Khan couldn’t do much with that information. If anything, it reassured him about his theoretical compatibility with the True Chaos, convincing him even more to follow his initial plan.
As Khan’s mana kept releasing instantaneous lightning bolts, the last of the incoming fuming pieces of debris eventually vanished, clearing the path ahead once again.
Meanwhile, the ship had started to stabilize, relying on thrusters to halt its spinning motion and straighten itself. Luckily, nothing looked broken, but Khan knew that was by design.
Khan wore a knowing look while glancing at the red figure hopelessly hovering in space. The Emperor probably had a way to jump back to a proper surface despite the lack of footholds, but he held back on it to avoid causing more damage.
The fact that the ship’s mana barrier had remained in place already vouched for that effort. The Emperor could have easily shattered with his violent leap and taken a considerable chunk of the vessel with him. Still, his sudden action had only caused the previous spinning motion.
Of course, the Emperor didn’t merely hover in space, either. His vast, suffocating aura had expanded in full force, seemingly shielding him from that environment’s deadliest traits. He had even crossed his muscular arms, his excitement dwindling as he stared in the distance.
Khan didn’t hesitate to reach the Emperor’s side and follow his gaze. Both leaders looked at the remaining dark but glowing stars in the distance, studying them as best they could while wondering if another one of those would turn into a meteor.
The dimensional invasion could have gone unnoticed, but the big moon’s destruction must have alerted that pocket universe. Its charge toward the ship might have been instinctive, but Khan and the Emperor were sure they had lost the surprise factor now.
Nevertheless, the handful of distant stars remained in their place, not reacting to their companion’s destruction and the incoming army.
Khan and the Emperor didn’t know what to make of that stillness, but the eventual movement that followed confused them even further. The distant stars stirred awake, but didn’t head for the Leviathan-class ship at that time.
Instead, those glowing but dark dots converged, crossing unfathomable distances to gather in the same spot, ultimately fusing into a single, dimmer object.
That convergence didn’t only apply to the handful of distant stars. The specks of True Chaos that had survived the clash with the mana barrier also stirred awake, flying at full speed toward that location.
The same went for the fuming pieces of debris that hadn’t headed for the Leviathan-class ship, earning themselves the mercy of Khan’s lightning bolts. They also abruptly changed direction, accelerating toward that distant gathering.
Energy didn’t have the same limits as physical bodies, even in an environment as permissive as space, when it came to friction. The acceleration achieved by that lingering True Chaos was immense, also relying on itself to increase its speed even further.
As that event unfolded, the Leviathan-class ship caught up with Khan and the Emperor, allowing them to stand on its tip again while continuing to watch the scene.
The distant gathering of bright True Chaos grew bigger and darker throughout the inspection, seemingly creating a blacker hole in that empty expanse. That pocket universe was gaining a proper star, but its purpose remained unclear.
The ship kept advancing, but so did that convergence, and the latter ended before the former could get closer to that destination in any meaningful way.
The Emperor and Khan’s somber inspection also continued, but nothing worthwhile stood out. That probably gigantic mass of True Chaos simply stood in its place, radiating its dark light, acting as a landmark the ship could easily follow.
Actually, that dark star looked way too easy to follow, as if meant to attract the invaders.
Khan and the Emperor diverted their gazes at the same time, exchanging a look that the silence imposed by the vast expanse couldn’t stop from communicating their thoughts.
The two simultaneously realized what that distant star was. Both Khan and the Emperor were great leaders of their respective forces, so they understood what that fellow commander had in mind.
That guiding star was an invitation and the appointed battlefield. It was where the True Chaos had decided that the final battle would be, and the allied front could only play along, knowing that they lacked the option to decide anything against a being capable of altering the very universe.
