Chapter 1615: Counterattack
Chapter 1615: Counterattack
The statement acted as another order that echoed throughout the very fabric of that separate universe.
Nevertheless, words alone couldn’t shatter the fabric of a God. Khan’s ascension had granted him innate authority over the world, but even he had to make an effort to enforce it.
Yet, Khan’s lightning bolts existed for that reason and followed through with his wishes. The scarlet sparks that surged from his black fingernails grew even higher, creating something that most spells would fail to match.
The lightning bolts rose before converging. The five trails of crackling energy gathered into an unstable mass of sparks far above Khan’s head, which expanded as more of that strange fuel flowed into it.
Clouds had been iconic to Khan’s element. That was the shape his chaos preferred to assume when it opted for its more unrestrained form.
Something similar came to be now, except also wildly different. In the past, Khan’s clouds had mostly been energy with sparks running through them. Instead, only lightning bolts existed now.
That gathering of lightning bolts never stood still. It kept crackling and flowing, its unstable shape deepening as it increased in size, until the critical point arrived.
A more intense and blinding red light suddenly flashed, instantly illuminating a vast chunk of space, before that nothingness gained a deep scar. Another followed, starting a trend that quickly picked up speed.
The gathering of sparks had started to launch lightning bolts on its own, as if it were the eye of a storm capable of disrupting the very fabric of space. Moreover, each attack headed to the countless scarlet eyes in the area, hitting them straight in the center of their pupils.
For each lightning bolt, an eye crumbled, exploding into tides of obscuring True Chaos that twisted and bent under the cracked space left behind by the blinding attacks.
That released True Chaos didn’t return to the world, either. The fact that the lightning bolts had destroyed it somehow marked it, removing its previous ownership, making it flow toward the dispersing red sparks nearby.
Those sparks were obviously connected to Khan and acted as an extension of his physical figure. He felt each absorption directly within him, adding fuel to the thunderous roars that resounded in his brain, empowering what had gathered on his fingertips.
Still, despite the destructive outcome, that wasn’t the main aspect of Khan’s attack. Lightning bolts kept gathering above him and shooting at the many surrounding eyes, but the God only focused on his lifted hand.
After witnessing Khan’s unique authority, the God had to eliminate most of his nigh-endless arsenal of attacks from his battle strategy. It simply wouldn’t work against Khan. If anything, it would empower him.
Yet, the rest, the better part of the God’s arsenal, demanded a steep price, which he was sure Khan was aware of. His previous attack had already showcased that weakness after all.
That separate universe was the God. It was a representation of his accumulation toward the next step in his evolutionary path. It was something he had painstakingly built long before Khan had even been born.
Refilling gaps was easier to build again, but the process was by no means quick, and the best attacks in the God’s arsenal required the energy his universe contained. That was where his divinity lay, so using it would lead to losses no matter what.
Nevertheless, the God didn’t really have a choice. Khan’s sole presence put his universe and existence at risk. His previous attacks had inflicted negligible damage, but it was damage nonetheless, and his raised hand promised to be anything but inconsequential.
Therefore, since the damage was unavoidable, the God felt forced to accept Khan’s request. It was indeed time to end that battle.
The countless eyes disappeared while lightning bolts still shot after them. The lack of targets didn’t stop those attacks, which exploded, forcing that layer of nothingness to release the energy it contained.
More energy flowed inside Khan, but he dismissed the event. Something had changed after the eyes’ disappearance, bringing an invisible but unmistakable transformation to his distant surroundings.
The universe seemed to have tensed up, an ominous aura pervading it, altering its nature and texture in ways that forced Khan’s survival instincts to sound the alarm.
Something also shrank. That immense separate universe suddenly felt narrower in a way incomparable to what had happened earlier. The change was drastic, intensifying the surrounding ominous aura and the screams of Khan’s survival instincts.
Something was brewing. Something was coming, but Khan failed to understand what and from where despite his transcendental senses. Actually, he knew the answer to the second question. The attack was simply happening everywhere.
And then, the attack hit. An invisible and instantaneous wave of something washed over Khan, seemingly coming to existence in his very location while crossing him at the same time.
That intrusive wave was made of something so tiny it could pass through Khan’s skin, ignoring his innate defenses to affect his insides. Luckily, his lightning bolts were there, shielding him from lethal damage.
Yet, damage unfolded anyway. Khan’s insides churned, as if multiple heavy punches had landed directly onto his organs. His figure immediately bent forward, and a mouthful of red blood mixed with scarlet sparks shot out of his mouth.
Khan also felt unable to breathe, well, his version of breathing in space. His lungs were shaking, and the same went for his other physical functions.
As expected, the God had quickly found a way to render Khan’s incredible physical prowess useless, even devising an attack that could disregard his toughness, hitting where he would feel it.
And the assault had just begun. The universe shrank again, and the ominous aura intensified once more, reaching levels that filled Khan with pure dread. An even stronger version of what had hit him earlier was about to fall onto him, but he wouldn’t let himself be the only one to suffer.
As the second invasive wave manifested itself, Khan lowered his raised hand, ready for another destabilizing blow while unleashing the sparks on his fingernails.
