Chapter 1619: Meal
Chapter 1619: Meal
The shards of emptiness that had become visible only after detaching from the fabric of space were trapped in a spinning motion that gave birth to a windless hurricane.
Dimming blackness encircled the horizontal tornado, expanding as more of the fabric of space fell prey to that spinning motion.
Trails of smoke eventually blew into the hurricane, adding actual winds as those detached shards lost the energy they contained to vanish into nothingness.
The released smoke was True Chaos of decent quality since it acted as the glue that kept the fabric of space together. Yet, that energy was incomparable to the blackness uncovered after peeling off that non-existent layer.
Just like with the five cuts and the horizontal canyon created by the charge, Khan’s attack had exposed more of the separate universe’s foundation, creating new windows into the true essence of the God’s existence.
And Khan licked his lips at that sight. His now-longer canines itched before those pitch-black cavities. The True Chaos released by the fabric of space was already satisfactory, so he couldn’t help but ponder what that deeper, obscuring blackness would taste like.
Despite the widespread damage, the universe didn’t stay still. Something flashed with obscuring light from inside the horizontal cut Khan’s charge had carved, and his survival instincts made him lift an arm in defense.
Khan barely had the time to bring his tattooed arm in front of his face before a tendril of obliterating blackness slammed into him, cracking like a whip made of pure divine energy that somehow defied the very concept of speed.
And, for the first time since the beginning of the battle, Khan’s skin gave in. The whip didn’t fling him away, but it tore through his flesh, opening a vertical wound that stretched from his raised forearm, crossed his torso, and ended on his waist.
Red blood immediately flowed out of the wound, flashing with the light of the sparks crackling within it while spreading through space. Meanwhile, Khan’s survival instincts sounded the alarm again, warning him about the impending danger.
The previous attack had taken Khan by surprise. Just like he was learning more about his state, the God was adapting to it, devising more devious and deadlier techniques.
Since Khan seemed to have learned to counter the previous implosions, the God had switched to something even more powerful that grew directly from his pitch-black foundation.
The effort destabilized the already damaged universe, depriving it of its necessary foundation. Still, Khan couldn’t care about that detail now.
Khan’s perception once again caught up with the new offense, forcing the world in his eyes and senses to slow down to allow him to study and react to the incoming attacks.
The God was using his divine True Chaos in its purest form, molding it into ethereal tendrils that grew from the windows into his existence, cracking them at Khan.
That version of the God’s energy could support literal universes, so it was no wonder that it could hurt Khan. It was the source and embodiment of his divinity, turned into tens of giant tendrils that shot toward Khan.
The world in Khan’s eyes was in slow motion, but the tendrils advanced at regular speed, vouching for the incredible acceleration they had generated under the God’s careful management.
There was no real time to experiment while finding the best route through the incoming attacks, so Khan ignored both options and forced his lightning bolts to fuse with his body again, empowering it while his toenails stabbed into the fabric of space.
Another destructive charge unfolded, incredibly fast, but not immune to the incoming tendrils. The God’s attacks slammed all over Khan, carving through his flesh while he advanced in a straight line ahead.
Multiple sources of pain invaded Khan. New wounds opened on his torso, arms, and face, leaking crackling blood all over the vast emptiness, but none of that affected his primitive plan.
Khan dived directly into the still-spinning tornado, stopping at the very edge of reality, his feet standing atop the darker-than-black blackness. The divine energy inside the foundation of the universe was already stirring, rising to stop him, only for him to stab his hands into it.
The God had summoned more tendrils in the meantime, with some growing directly from the black window where Khan stood. However, everything froze when Khan’s hands stabbed into that blackness.
A tide of unfathomably satisfying energy surged through Khan while his hands rested inside the blackness. Sparks also appeared on his fingernails, launching lightning bolts everywhere through that layer of divine True Chaos.
Every single inch of Khan’s flesh cheered in pleasure as his body and lightning bolts devoured that divine energy. Pure greed spread inside his mind, fueling his bottomless hunger, repurposing the entirety of his functions to eating that True Chaos.
The blackness under Khan didn’t show it, but his suction force caused profound destabilizing effects to the universe as a whole. The summoned tendrils immediately stopped advancing and lost their structural integrity, and the repercussions didn’t stop there.
Khan was feeding on the God’s very existence, which acted as the foundation of the universe. Since the absorption destabilized the latter, anything built on top of it suffered.
Cracks appeared all around the universe with no specific pattern to that destruction. Massive cavities and spiderwebs of fissures opened in disparate spots of that separate world, as if hammers were slamming randomly to reveal the glassy nature of that layer.
The fabric of space was failing to remain intact due to the turmoil afflicting its foundation. That shattering was also so widespread and immediate that the universe struggled to shrink in time to stabilize itself.
Meanwhile, the more Khan ate, the deeper he understood how deeply he had been starving, and his gradually fuller stomach steadily rewarded him with the true version of the strength he had been reborn with.
Khan’s tissues were awakening, and the increasing power they radiated felt overwhelming to the point that he lifted his head and opened his mouth, releasing a thunderous hiss and a massive crackling beam.
