Chapter 4563: Chase In The Wrathful Aeons
Chapter 4563: Chase In The Wrathful Aeons
The silver veins on his skin blazed with a black-gold energy, his form vanishing from the spot with no sound. One blink and Davis was already on Karyon’s tail, his palm wreathed in an annihilating vortex of obliteration.
"Ah! Spare me!"
Karyon Stormsong was scared shitless. He simultaneously sacrificed more of his blood-soul essence, gaining more speed, somehow managing to avert the disaster that was going to strike him.
Davis smirked. The feeling of chasing to kill a supreme genius was exhilarating. Just as he was wondering how he should torture Karyon Stormsong for even daring to think that he could do something about him, just because he gained a Lightning Elemental that is worshiped as their deity.
"You two brothers remind me of the Zenflame brothers, utterly wretched, and don’t know when to stop. If only you had left after having your lucky encounter due to my unluckiness. Ah, such a fate..."
"No... I will not die! Someone, save me!"
Davis lampooned, causing Karyon Stormsong to scream out in terror.
Davis sensed some people on the distant horizon. He guessed that they should be the Dawnbreaker Family and the spirits of the Verdant Time Galaxy. However, neither of them dared to step in.
Karyon Stormsong was also slowing down. There was a limit to how long he could maintain this escape technique, especially when he was already flailing the borrowed power of a wisp and not a spirit. The energy capacity of a wisp was already less.
Still, Davis could sense that Karyon Stormsong was leading him somewhere, probably some place where he had prepared a trap. He didn’t care.
However-
"Hmm?" Davis turned to look back above.
*Rumble!~*
The skies split again as a sharp, blazing arc of thunderfire tore across the air. Fairy Thunderblaze’s figure shot through the storm, her eyes locked forward. Her speed was monstrous, her Thunderfire Laws blazing like a comet as she went after Karyon Stormsong.
"This is my Shard Region, and he is my prey~."
She left a few words and shot forward again like a lightning bolt.
"Interesting... You want to see who gets his head first?" Davis chuckled.
He picked up speed and instantly shot past Fairy Thunderblaze, causing her to harrumph.
"Mmph~ If you want to make it fair, adjust to the prey’s speed. Otherwise, it’s no fun."
"Alright, alright..."
Davis’s lips curled. He found her complaining to be a bit cute, but he still couldn’t tell why she would join. Did Karyon Stormsong have something she needed?
"Is this about Divine Lightning?"
"I’m not saying anything to you."
"..." Davis’s shoulders shook as he suppressed laughter.
He knew Fairy Thunderblaze was pissed ever since that day when he defeated her, and also that incident with Fairy Xiu Juili. Hence, he hadn’t bothered asking her about Divine Lightning since he knew she would react in this manner.
Still-
"What a mosquito..."
Davis frowned as he looked at Karyon Stormsong’s back.
Although his speed was dropping, he was constantly buzzing around without a hint of trajectory since his white lightning was serene. It was hard to follow, especially when he would take a sudden turn and block them behind something like a mountain.
*Bzzzz!~*
The trio streaked across the region where the sky was an unending canvas of lightning veins and roaring cloud masses. Gales howled like ghostly banshees, sound ripples lashing in every direction. The thunderstorm regions bled into wind and sound zones, the layered chaos making visibility a nightmare for anyone without supreme perception.
Karyon Stormsong’s figure flickered ahead of them, always just out of reach, his serene white lightning body weaving through the storm like a phantom fish through turbulent seas. Every time Davis thought he had a straight path, the man would suddenly arc away, using the very storm to blur his trail.
Fairy Thunderblaze narrowed her eyes, her black pupils locking on the white lightning like a predator on prey, "Slippery Stormsong."
"Better call him a white soundless mosquito," Davis replied without missing a beat, his chaotic silver veins still humming with black-gold annihilation energy.
Then suddenly-
*Fzzt!~*
Karyon’s body shimmered unnaturally, his outline warping like a mirage in desert heat. His aura collapsed inward and then... disappeared.
He was gone.
Davis’s brows furrowed. Fairy Thunderblaze’s pupils shrank.
"Don’t lose him." Davis’s voice was calm as he shot forward first.
The next instant, the scenery ahead shifted, sky and storm folding like painted silk, replaced by a shimmering veil of translucent light. It wasn’t spatial displacement. It was an illusory domain.
Both plunged through the veil one after another, but instantly, a mountain the size of a continent filled their vision.
"Shit-!" Davis’s eyes widened. He tried to twist mid-flight, but momentum had already committed him to the collision.
*Rip!!!~*
Davis shot through the mountain, piercing through like a drill for a few hundred meters before he stopped and echoed out.
"Careful!"
Outside, Fairy Thunderblaze also faced the same situation as her eyes widened in shock. She was also unable to stop.
Her body slammed into the mountainside, but instead of pulverizing against it, she released a blast of sound-energy laced with thunderfire, the force dispersing outward in rippling shockwaves that rolled across the mountain like a roaring drumbeat. The blow sent entire cliffs trembling, but she used the recoil to flip midair, regaining her balance with barely a tear on her robe.
Her foot tapped once, and she vanished upward in a single flash-step, her thunderfire robe igniting like the wingbeat of a fire phoenix.
Karyon Stormsong, thinking he had gained another heartbeat of lead, never saw it coming.
*Rip~*
The world slowed. A single golden-violet arc, silent as a whisper, passed through him. His serene white lightning scrambled, his body twitched, eyes wide, golden pupils dilating as his head separated from his shoulders in perfect symmetry.
Blood misted into the stormwind before being swallowed by the roaring gales.
Davis appeared right before the body and captured the head with his hand. Karyon Stormsong was still alive, his soul intact, but he was pretty much crippled, his body destroyed as a thunderous kick landed on it, causing the body to explode.
*Wiii!~*
The Elegant Thunderous Stormsong Wisp fled deeper into this strange region.
"Good work, Zenova." Davis turned to look at Fairy Thunderblaze, who descended after beheading Karyon Stormsong.
"He’s my prey. I hunted him." She coldly said.
"Nah." Davis chuckled, "I defeated him while you merely took advantage of me. Fight me or use up a big favor."
"..." Fairy Thunderblaze glared at him.
She wasn’t foolish enough to use a big favor, nor did she want to fight him, knowing it was a useless endeavor.
