Chapter 4688 Huge Mountain
Chapter 4688 Huge Mountain
The Mountain-Sea Painting Shard Region mesmerized the eyes of the beholder. Davis and Myria were no different; the scenery in front of them evoked harmony and various thoughts of their life together if they were to live here.
The two looked at each other, knowing that they wouldn't be able to stay here as they pleased.
"Let's make a place a lot similar to this one, alright?" Davis suggested.
"Mhm~" Myria readily agreed, her voice an octave higher.
As a Saintess, she had the power to change the environment similar to the one they were seeing, and so did Davis. With the two of them working together, their paradise would be easily created and etched in some place in the world sooner or later.
They summoned a flying boat and were just about to leave when a group of beasts appeared in their line of sight.
"Ha! Humans!"
"Delicious meat!"
Many more voices resounded like thunder.
One beast was reminiscent of a hydra as it possessed a serpent with two heads. Another one possessed four heads, its body and head in the shape of a seahorse. There were the likes of a giant fish with a razor-sharp maw and another fish with a jaw that elongated into the shape of a fish.
Davis had no idea what these magical beasts' names were, but he could sense the wretched hostility from them. It was filled with the hint of torturous and malicious deeds, making Davis instantly frown.
He said nothing and jumped out of the flying boat, intercepting them.
"Kill! Feast on the intruders!"
The leading hydra-like serpent lunged first, its voice cackling with excitement. Its giant twin heads were of different colors, indicative of different attributes. It spat out a torrent of dark-blue water infused with crushing pressure, with one head and the other a molten mud that burned with mist around it. The size of its body was massive, over eight hundred meters long.
It eclipsed Davis and Myria, and its twin ball of water and molten mud rushed at Davis.
With a wave of his hand, the space trembled, causing these two balls to shatter midair and explode into warm rain.
"Haha! You're powerful, but can you defend against us all?"
As soon as Davis made his move, the other magical beasts also moved.
The four-headed seahorse surged upward with its six-hundred-meter-tall body. Its translucent, coral-like body refracted the surrounding light, creating illusions of multiple beasts darting in every direction. Each of its four heads pulled back and sucked in a huge breath of heaven and earth energy before blasting a thick illusion-infused water at Davis.
Two more figures emerged beneath the sea waves that they had previously conjured.
A massive nine-hundred-meter-long fish with a crescent-shaped maw swam through the water, its speed drastically increasing as it swam. Its fins shimmered with blue-white lightning, slicing through the atmosphere with sonic precision. Every flap of its fin distorted the nearby terrain, its scales radiating the aura of compressed pressure. With a jump, it flew into the skies, awaiting for the attacks to land so it could eat the target whole with a tremendous suction pressure already starting to emanate from its mouth.
Behind it, a seven-hundred-meter-long serpentine fish that was even stranger than the first magical beast flicked its head, revealing a lower jaw that elongated outward like a harpoon. Its entire body gleamed with fractal patterns that pulsed with a heartbeat of wood essence, giving it an eerie, life-devouring aura.
It abruptly changed directions from Davis to the flying boat where Myria was standing and made a motion of spitting out. The harpoon-like sword over its mouth glowed and transformed into a beam of wooden light that shot towards the flying boat, intending to puncture it.
Myria flicked her finger, making a light-attributed barrier.
The verdant harpoon-like sword beam pierced through the barrier but was caught in the cracks, unable to proceed.
At the same time, Davis's eyes held an otherworldly black-golden glow.
His black-crimson inner world rumbled as energy flowed through his meridians, generating dark crimson flames and black-silver lightning around him. The dark crimson flames soared into the sky from a mere ball to the size of a mountain, instantly smashing against the tremendous waves of water-based attacks.
The steam from the clash spread across the skies, covering the sky-scape in an instant.
The magical beasts were shocked, but the fist with the crescent-shaped maw was the first one to suffer.
A thick bolt of black-silver lightning struck the fish, instantly turning it into a fried meal.
Davis flew above, reaching the two-headed serpent and the four-headed seahorse who were side by side. With a dance, he conjured a darkness-attribute scythe and cleaved all six heads in one full motion, causing blood to spurt across the area. The blood fountain didn't even touch Davis as he disappeared and arrived before the serpentine with a sword mouth.
His gaze was filled with interest, but a dangerous light could be seen.
"Interesting… It's rare to see a magical beast's body embody Sword Laws. I'll capture you and take you home."
*Boom!~*
A terrifying pressure radiated from Davis as he directly made the sword serpentine, faint.
The other magical beasts noticed that the human before them was someone whom they couldn't deal with. They turned around to flee, only to be abruptly encompassed in a purple-black bubble, which then compressed heavily into a heavy clap that shattered the particles inside.
*Tap~* *Tap~* *Tap~* *Tap~*
Numerous explosions occurred as the space within the bubbles collapsed, and so did the bodies of the magical beasts. Not even blood mists were left behind.
Davis lowered his hand and absorbed the soul essences even though he didn't need them anymore. As for their rings, they were weak. He was only able to salvage a few. The rest couldn't withstand and exploded, inverse-throwing the items into spatial layers that couldn't be easily found or explored due to the spatial dangers existing within.
He didn't give importance to their rings anyway, as he momentarily digested specific memories from a soul essence and learned that they were only part of a motley group disciplined and trained by a Nine-Headed Hydra. In other words, they were like the bandits of the beast race, good-for-nothings who hunt down their own kind and have fun eating them slowly, much less humans.
After dealing with the remains and loot, Davis hauled himself back to the flying boat and smiled at Myria.
"Let's go. We should be facing more threats since they seem to have already established a network. However, I doubt they would come after learning that I've dispatched a dozen of them in a few seconds."
"But isn't that what we want?" Myria offered a warm smile.
She had even controlled her strength to counter the enemy's attack so that they would send more to become part of their collection.
"I suppose so." Davis chuckled. Now that he knew Bylai and the others were safer than the people at the fortress, he felt like he could make any detours as much as he wanted. Regardless, he stuck to the plan and made his way to them.
Even without Rioxys Plume's help, he would be able to locate them with ease because he could see their karmic threads.
He was already aware that all of them were safe and sound. But for some reason, the threads swirled in different directions, giving him a faint sense of unease.
After traversing nearly twenty million kilometers, Davis chanced upon a freaking huge mountain. It was a mountain among mountains, the emperor of mountains, yet over the side, there were over a hundred silhouettes mining.
Among them, Davis spotted someone who couldn't help but make him shout.
"Bylai!"
The shout cracked through the skies like thunder.
It was as though a bolt of lightning struck a blonde-haired woman below who oversaw the command chain, causing her to go stiff. She forcefully turned her head upward to look at the sky, noticing a flying boat closing in.
Her golden eyes shimmered with shock, the world coming to a standstill, yet even before she could make a sound, one of the mining tunnels erupted.
"Master!~"
A streak of gray shot past Bylai and collided with the flying boat from below, causing the flying boat to break in half and shatter. The craft splintered apart like paper under a gentle hurricane, scattering fragments of wood and light across the open sky.
Myria jumped.
Davis also nearly jerked from the momentum of this voice and the sonic boom behind the rush.
He unknowingly readied himself, and a pair of warm, trembling arms wrapped around him in midair as he endured the blow.
"Mira…" he exhaled softly, instinctively catching her as they spun together amidst the shower of glowing fragments.
Mira's eyes were wide with joy as Davis spun her around. Her laughter rang out, pure and bright. She was also unrestrained, paying no attention to her image.
The impact of the force she came at him with cleared the azure skies above and revealed a radiant glow that dawned on them. The sunlight struck her silver-gray hair, turning it to molten starlight as she buried her face in his chest, "You came! You really came!"
The wooden shards of the flying boat cascaded around them, nearly making Davis not know whether to laugh or cry at this dragon's antics.
