Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4767 The Past Year

Chapter 4767  The Past Year

Inside a residence, Isabella lay sleeping in the bedroom.

Her eyelids quivered as she opened her eyes weakly, turning to look at the pale blue ceiling. Moving her head aside, she saw white jade-like tiles, etched with elegant patterns, while a few jade pillars flanked the entrance to her bedroom.

After some time, she let out a sigh, "You're there, aren't you? Come out."

A shadow behind the jade pillar shook ever so lightly before they moved out, revealing a purple-robed woman with purplish-green hair. Her purple eyes were piercing and seductive, yet right now, they were full of guilt.

"Isabella, the thing is…"

Evelynn immediately wanted to explain herself, but Isabella waved her hand weakly, "You did the right thing, apparently. Mira says a terrifying phenomenon appeared, but you all forgot?"

"Mhm." Evelynn's gaze flickered.

She tried to remember but ultimately shook her head, "We couldn't see what it was, but the feeling of it was still dreadful. The surrounding fire and lightning heaven and earth energy went berserk, and there were various changes for a period of time, although it was said that most regions didn't experience a massive change."

"In other words, only Shard Regions with fire and lightning heaven and earth energy were affected, causing many to be harmed. However, it is also a boon as many previously unseen treasures had popped out, allowing the supreme geniuses to harvest more resources. But the greatest loss is the time since we received news that renowned Mystic Diviners divined that this secret realm would close within four to six months. This has caused a frenzy with supreme geniuses now resorting to looting to gain the most out of all."

"…" Isabella blinked at the ceiling before she recalled Mira's account of how she was fated to die and sighed again, "There are simply too many oddities out there. I'm worried for Davis even more now. If he doesn't make it back… I…"

"Don't worry," Evelynn could only offer some words consolement without any evidence to back it up.

She walked up to her and took out a needle, "If you can't suppress the urge to leave in search of him, then don't suppress it. As the big sister, let me suppress you instead."

The needle gleamed, laced with paralyzing poison.

Isabella could only dryly laugh. Her cultivation was sealed, and her body was still weak from the effects of the sleeping powder and paralyzing poison. She hallucinated faintly, seeing herself about to leave, understanding that she had probably tried to wake up and leave a few times already in the past few days.

She even had a dream that she had forcefully broken through all blockades and successfully reached Davis, only to wake up.

"I don't have any intentions to leave anymore. Hopefully, they can come back in one piece."

"They will."

Evelynn kept the needle inside. After confirming that Isabella really did lose her inexplicable intent to leave after a few repeated questioning did she dared to give her the antidote to the paralyzing poison, but she still kept her cultivation sealed, which Isabella could break with her innate strength at any time.

But if she did so, Evelynn would know, and the same scenario would ensue again, so Evelynn was comfortable letting Isabella walk around.

"You all worry too much." Bylai waltzed into the room, "Big sisters, Rioxys is with them, so there's no need to worry, really. Not only is she strong, but she's also a responsible and kind child. She may have grown, but I can vouch that she didn't change one bit."

Isabella walked around lightly, testing her mettle while being sealed, before she turned to look at Bylai.

Her lips curled, "I don't doubt Rioxys's friendliness towards us. She wouldn't abandon Davis. After all, even as a little child, she was kind yet foolish enough to become a tribute for her little darkness spirit friend. If she is indeed traveling together with Davis, then she definitely won't abandon him. He is also the type to be needlessly concerned for her, as he would be worried that we would be sad, so they would be inexplicably worried about each other, I reckon."

Evelynn displayed a satisfied smile, "It's good that an Exalt Spirit is with them. The odds of them returning safely would indeed be significant."

At this moment, Myria walked in and gave a nod to them, "Isabella, you're too impulsive. Even if we go to the Shard Continent, nothing will change. There are existences above Exalts there."

"I am aware…" Isabella guiltily lowered her head, but she quickly changed the topic, "I heard that you had a breakthrough to Level Seven Intent in Reincarnation Laws?"

"Mhm." Myria's reply was perfunctory as though she hadn't accomplished much.

However, the three of them were astounded since Level Seven Intent of Supreme Laws was something that only Empyreans could comprehend. This meant that she had broke through the limit imposed by the heaven and earth. Since she had already broken through limits once, she wouldn't be punished directly but showered with karmic burden, which would later affect her tribulation.

"Be more proud of yourself," Bylai laughed lightly.

Myria couldn't help but smile as she shook her head, "Husband reached this level more than a year ago. I'm late."

"What else was going on while I was in seclusion? I don't know much other than Davis's situation." Isabella asked with a facade of an eager expression.

Bylai placed a finger on her crimson lips and tapped as she appeared thoughtful, "Outside our fortress, the situation is quite chaotic. With the secret realm closing soon, looting is rampant, and most of the rogue cultivators have entered the market we established nearby, along with the help of Jiayi Crystalveil, who used her thick coffers and expansive influence of her True Peak Emporium. It's practically a merchant town now."

"For the past year, Dalila has also made use of the situation there to increase her proficiency in creating Peak Empyrean Grade Pills. Dewzai accompanies her as her assistant. Many are willing to hire Dalila's pill concoction services even if it means losing an arm and a leg, as her renown keeps getting higher and higher, even after she obtained the inheritance. Aila, Juili, and Shirley, Flamerose, Frostrose are still in seclusion, digesting their gains. The children are quite bored, unable to go anywhere this time, so they are guarding the merchant town and striking down any idiots who dare to make trouble. To protect the children, Niera is watching over them along with her fire spirit, Reignisia. There have been no life-and-death situations so far."

"That's good." Isabella nodded with a satisfied smile, "Dalila is even more exceptional than us. When she is able to Exalt Grade Pills after her breakthrough to the Empyrean Stage, no one could match her in terms of contribution to the family."

"Indeed," Bylai's golden eyes gleamed, "I'm honestly excited to see how our family will grow stronger in the upcoming years."

Suddenly, the four of them all turned to look at the entrance, sensing someone other than their close circle.

Evelynn gestured for them to continue as she walked out and met a sword cultivator bunny.

"Mistress Evelynn, Jiayi Crystalveil is here to meet you to discuss further business ventures and the consideration of a resourceful retreat." Alinna cupped her hands, bowing her head with respect.

"Alright, bring her to the guest palace." Evelynn's echoed elegantly, her stature and voice majestic.

Alinna looked up and nodded, "As you command."

As a sword cultivator, she could see the trace of ruthlessness behind those gentle yet seductive eyes, causing her to release her breath she had held in tension and leave.
