Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4812 Mining Grounds

Chapter 4812  Mining Grounds

A miner screamed in pain as he held his arm and saw that the black crystal embedded on the back of his elbow ruptured, spewing out blood.

Davis panned his gaze and saw that most miners had these black crystals protruding from their bodies. These crystals were jagged and asymmetrical, pulsing faintly with spatial energy. Where they erupted, the skin had split open into raw fissures, blood pouring out before dark blood crusted around the edges.

Some miners had wrapped their limbs in filthy cloth, but the fabric had hardened where the crystals pressed through, stained black and purple.

Nonetheless, no man went to help that man who screamed and collapsed to his knees.

Instead, a whip swooped through the air, creating the sound of a whiplash.

*Bang!~*

"Ahhh!" The miner screamed for his life as he jumped and rubbed his back, trying to get rid of the pain.

"Don't stop. Continue."

The cold voice of a guard echoed, giving no choice to the poor, injured man. He had no choice but to take the pickaxe and continue mining.

'Speltuma Crystal Poisoning… they won't last long than three years if they continue to mine without rest. Furthermore, any minor injuries could lead to having problems in one's cultivation, setting them back for months or even years…'

Davis shook his head.

The guard glanced back at Davis with a sneer, "Don't worry. You won't end up like that if you play your cards right."

They stopped before a massive stone gate engraved with hydra sigils and dense formation arrays. Beyond it, a suffocating aura pulsed rhythmically, appearing heavy, deep, and oppressive enough to cause one to gasp and hyperventilate.

Clearly, such a formation was placed to bring the utmost fear.

The guard straightened his robe, even feeling the same fear as he tidied himself and heaved a solemn breath.

"This is as far as one goes without permission," he said, "The Mining Director is inside cultivating. Speak carefully. One wrong word… and even I might be punished."

Davis raised his head, his expression calm, eyes dark and still.

"Don't worry," he replied softly, "I'm very good at choosing my words."

The guard grunted reluctantly, "Wait for the doors to open. I have relayed information inside. Once the door opens…"

*Creak~*

"Come in."

The hydra-tendriled door opened, sending a wave of darkness energy outside, which chilled the guard to the core. He trembled, barely managing to gesture for Davis to head inside.

Inside, the hall was vast and oppressive. Black-white Empyrean-grade tiles paved the ground, each one engraved with writhing hydra sigils that pulsed faintly, as though alive. At the far end sat the Mining Director, cross-legged upon a raised dais, his aura thick and tyrannical, grinding down everything beneath it.

He was clad in a black robe, his crimson hair smoothly swaying as the wind entered the hall.

"I hear you come from a wealthy family." The Mining Director said indifferently, not even opening his eyes as he said, "What is your family's name?"

"Before that," Davis spoke, his voice subdued, "I want to offer my utmost apologies to a great Autarch like you-"

He cupped his hands, his expression sorrowful as he walked towards the Mining Director. His waist increasingly declined in height as he bowed all the way down while walking to the Mining Director, causing the latter to frown as he opened his eyes with a minor squint.

He could tell that this lowly miner was going to hug his legs and beg for forgiveness for escaping. It could be dangerous, as many have tried this method already, trying to poison him by scraping their black crystal on him.

However, noticing that the other party was a mere Immortal Emperor and he possessed the medicine, he didn't pay much mind, completely ignoring him. The gaps between them couldn't be filled even if one were a supreme genius.

'Heh, he couldn't be that legendary Divine Emperor of Death who is said to be capable of matching Level Nine Emp-'

Abruptly, he felt himself sinking back.

It was so abrupt that he couldn't even react, his world lurching backward before twisting.

Once Davis's hands reached the foot of the Mining Director, he grabbed his two legs and lifted him up all the way, throwing him into the air.

At that moment, many thoughts flashed through his mind. His son Azariel's avatar had been killed, silenced without even exchanging a word. It made him extremely infuriated. After all, he had thought his son not to attack before confirming the identity of the intruder and their intentions, but this time around, his son was crushed without explanation.

All that anger burst into his arms, his grip tightening like a dragon's hold and crushing the Mining Director's legs before slamming down in the cruelest way possible.

*Bang!~*

The Mining Director's entire body exploded into a mist of blood as it hit the Empyrean Grade tiles, leaving behind two feet that survived because Davis was holding them. The Empyrean-grade tiles shattered outward in a spiderweb of fractures after the body struck. The impact compressed flesh, bone, and organs into a single instant of annihilation.

The Mining Director didn't even get to scream as his body burst apart like a bloated balloon.

The hall was painted red, leaving the guards outside looking dumbfounded.

Davis dropped the pair of feet and turned to look at the guard who brought him here before throwing a thousand Peak-Level Transcendent Crystals.

"My family will fulfill the promises it makes."

His words echoed, but the guards' heads slid down as an Empyrean Grade Scythe flashed past them.

The guard who brought him here barely managed to look at the crystals before his head also slid down his neck like it no longer fit.

"And also repays the favors and debt it owes without fail."

Davis's solemn voice echoed as he captured Yama in his grasp after making it fly around once, reaping the lives of the guards. His soul sense expanded, instantly locking onto all the guards who possessed a jade identification token that belonged to the hydras.

*Boom!~*

Their heads burst as spatial attacks fell on their heads using the surrounding spatial energy.
