Dragon Genesis: I Can Create Dragons

Chapter 310: Mindflow

Chapter 310: Mindflow

“Have you been practicing?”

Reynara questioned in her usual, gentle voice.

“I am.”

Kael nodded. The Fox looked into his eyes, as if waiting for a question.

‘So she knew…’

Kael didn’t miss that.

“I cannot sense Mindflow after I return from Everveil.”

He shared the problem he faced yesterday.

“I expected it.”

Reynara nodded. Kael waited for her to continue.

“Let’s begin with what Mindflow actually is. This will also be a revision for you.”

Kael nodded and started answering Reynara’s questions.

“All beings do not see the world as it is. They see the world as their soul allows them to. Mindflow is a rarely understood form of energy that governs how living beings perceive reality—it’s not tied to the body or the mind, but to the bridge between them: awareness.

Mindflow determines how quickly a being reacts, what it believes, and how it prioritizes threats.

It exists in every sentient creature, flowing like a quiet river behind their senses.

Most people are unaware of it, but Illusion Casters learn to touch this stream.”

“That is correct. Good.”

Reynara praised, her tails gently patting Kael’s head.

Kael smiled. He had gotten used to being praised like this, and honestly, it felt good. Reynara’s Aura was simply otherworldly—it made him feel at ease.

“The reason you are unable to sense Mindflow in your world is because your world is fundamentally different from Everveil. In Everveil, no being is on guard against another. They live in harmony, and because of that, they have next to no defenses against each other.

Your world, however, is different.

Wars, betrayals, massacres, assassinations—all this must be commonplace in your world.”

Kael nodded at those words. It was indeed true.

“Because of this, your people are wary of each other. Their souls sense that wariness and raise their defenses on their own, making it difficult for one to link with someone else’s or even their own Mindflow.”

Reynara explained the problem.

“But I don’t notice any problems when I use Vita’s powers. I can access others’ Mindflow just fine with it.”

Kael added, and Reynara just laughed at that.

“You were able to access others’ Mindflow using that power even when you did not know what Mindflow actually is.

This was the reason I called it a borrowed power. You simply had to will it to achieve what you wished—you did not understand the principles behind it, making it impossible for you to progress any further.”

“Then… what do I do? How do I get better?”

Kael questioned.

“There is nothing you can do. You simply need to be patient and continue practicing. It will come to you eventually.”

Reynara answered, and Kael nodded in understanding.

“Then shall we continue?”

Kael nodded as he closed his eyes, accessing his own Mindflow, and just as Reynara said, he accessed it much more easily.

He expanded his senses outside of his body, looking at the world around him through his soul and… he just saw darkness.

This wasn’t the first time this had happened, so Kael did not panic. Actually, when they first came here, Vitaria mentioned that something was weakening her perception here—this was what she was talking about.

Even she mentioned the same darkness whenever she tried to look at the world through her soul.

Kael recalled the conversation they had before,

‘Is this the same when you do this back in Nerathis?’

‘No. Nerathis is different. There, I can look into other beings’ souls whenever I do this, but here, something restricts my vision, and I only see darkness.’

This was what Vitaria had said before.

It was quite different from what Reynara told him. After all, if people here did not do anything to defend their Mindflow, shouldn’t their souls also be much easier to see?

Or was there perhaps some confusion?

Kael wanted to learn more about this. He wanted to clearly understand the difference between Nerathis and Everveil and was hoping to use this difference to understand the principles behind Mindflow and find a faster way to master its applications.

Of course, it was easier said than done, and Kael knew that. For now, he practiced as Reynara told him to.

Time passed just like that, and soon, it was dark.

As always, Reynara was very strict when it came to sleep. The Fox took him to the room inside where other Kitsune children and Vitaria were waiting for him in their beds.

Vitaria, of course, jumped on him, wanting to sleep with her father. Reynara just chuckled at that, allowing the little Fox to do whatever she wanted.

“Dream well~”

With the same words as before, Reynara put everyone to sleep.

“Kael! We won!!”

Lavinia rushed towards Kael with a big smile on her face and hugged him as tightly as she could. Kael smiled as he hugged her back.

Behind her stood Igni and others, waiting for their turn. Of course, Cirri wasn’t having any of it.

Waiting for her turn?

She was the first Princess—her turn was supposed to be first!

The little Dragon quickly pushed away Lavinia and hugged her father. Vitaria and others rushed forward as well.

Kael was surrounded by his children. This time, even the spirits were flying next to him with cheerful smiles on their faces.

It was a fantasy,

A dream.

And Kael knew that.

One of Everveil’s gifts: sweet dreams—dreams reflecting one’s desires.

‘So this is my desire, huh…’

Kael muttered as he noticed everything around him. Surrounded by Lavinia and his Bonds, it was indeed true—as long as they were together, other things did not matter.

Suddenly, a thought appeared in Kael’s head, and he closed his eyes and accessed his Mindflow.

Lady Reynara wouldn’t allow him to train while it was sleep time, but she wouldn’t be able to stop him when he was training in his dream, now would she?

With a cheeky grin, he continued. Just as he expected, he managed to access his Mindflow easily. He then tried to expand his senses.

He wanted to see what his dream world would look like if he looked at it with his soul, but as he did, he saw something familiar.

Darkness.

‘Even here…?’

Kael frowned.
