Chapter 513: Discussions.

Chapter 513: Discussions.

“This is an urgent matter, Matriarch,

We’ll convince the Council later. We don’t have time to wait for formalities or endless meetings.”

Morvain narrowed her eyes at those words. She opened her mouth to argue—but then stopped.

She understood what Kael was trying to say and after a momentary silence, the Velmourn Matriarch nodded.

“Very well,”

She said.

“We’ll talk here.”

Kael nodded his head in appreciation, then he turned towards Gruumak who, for the first time ever since they met, glanced at Morvain and acknowledged her.

Morvain nodded back at him, then, without wasting time—

“The first problem—”

She began,

“—is distance.

How will we work together when our homes are so far apart?”

And Kael, obviously, had already thought of the answer, no, it didn’t need much thinking, after all, it was the only thing that was possible.

“The Stonefangs and the Velmourns will live together,”

He declared and the instant everyone heard and understood him, they turned towards him, blinking in surprise.

“More precisely,”

Kael, however, didn’t care about the looks he received, he just continued.

“The Stonefangs will live with the Velmourns.”

And the reaction to his words was instant.

“What!?”

“Live with outsiders!?”

“Our mountains ours!”

“No leave home!”

“Not abandon ancestors’ bones!”

“Not step in outsider land!”

The Stonefangs’ fierce roars filled the air again, this time even louder and angrier than before.

Their loyalty to their home was as deep as their hatred for the Velmourns, but once again—

“Silence.”

Gruumak’s massive hand rose, and his deep voice cut through the noise, instantly silencing the warriors, though their faces still remained dark.

Gruumak looked at Kael and gave a small nod, urging him to continue.

And that was what Kael did.

“The area where the Velmourns live is better for survival,”

He explained.

“It’s not perfect—but it’s safer.

The Velmourn Wall is strong, it can be relied upon when needed, and the land can hold more people than it does now.

It’s easier to defend, and there’s room to build for both tribes.”

He then turned towards Morvain and—

“It will require adjustments, yes—but far less than you think.”

Morvain frowned, folding her arms.

“Even if the land can hold more, food is still a problem,”

She muttered in a low voice.

At her words, Gruumak nodded slowly.

“Stonefangs need much food,”

He spoke in a heavy tone, agreeing with the Matriarch.

“If we come… we starve.”

But this wasn’t as serious of a problem in Kael’s eyes.

“I will feed all of you.”

He answered with certainty and the instant he said those words, both sides turned to him at once.

“You’ll what?”

Kayden asked, his tone disbelieving.

“I said I will feed everyone,”

Kael repeated calmly.

“The Velmourns.

The Stonefangs.

All of them.”

Gruumak stared at him, frozen.

“You not joke?”

Zakaar translated his chief’s words with the same expression because he too had the same question as his chief.

“I do not joke,”

Kael answered, shaking his head with a serious look on his face.

And while the Stonefang side couldn’t believe what they were hearing, the Velmourns were different. After all, they knew about the Divine Rations—the surprisingly delicious food that fills the bellies of more than half of the Velmourn population every single day, three times.

“Do you have… enough?”

Still, Morvain asked cautiously. Even though she had no right over the food and its distribution, she did not wish to see her people starving again.

Kael just smiled faintly at her words. He glanced at Lavinia for a moment, then he nodded.

“What I need is Faith Energy. If I have enough, the food I can produce will be more than enough for all of us.”

“And… what if there isn’t enough Faith Energy…?”

Morvain tilted her head.

She still hadn’t fully accepted this ’Faith Energy’ thing, but since it was feeding her people, she never once complained against it, nor was she planning to.

“That won’t happen.”

Kael’s answer came so casually that it caught Morvain off guard. The Velmourn Matriarch was still hesitating and Kael could see that.

“Leave the food to me.”

He spoke with assurance and just then—

Lavinia, who had been quiet until now, stepped forward as well.

“He’s right,”

She said.

“The food won’t be a problem.

Kael and I will handle it.

You have my word.”

Her voice was calm but confident, just like Kael’s, and for some odd reason, her confident words made Morvain… much calmer.

Kayden, however, still wasn’t convinced.

“This isn’t just about food,”

He frowned and crossed his arms.

“There are other things to consider—our people live by strict order. Every single one of us works and earns the resources they receive. We have our own culture, our traditions.

And the Stonefangs too—while I do not know them, I am certain they too have their own customs and cultures.

How do you plan to mix two societies that can’t even speak the same language?

Who commands whom?

Who works where?”

He fired question after question, his frustration showing with every word.

But Kael—

“These are small matters, Kayden,”

He didn’t flinch, he just shook his head and spoke firmly.

“We have far greater threats to face right now.

Focus on them.”

Kayden opened his mouth to argue again—but then stopped.

Kael’s tone wasn’t angry, but there was something in it—something… absolute.

For a long moment, no one spoke.

Snow continued to fall. The wind howled quietly through the jagged cliffs. The Stonefangs stood silent, their expressions torn between doubt and curiosity. The Velmourns exchanged uncertain looks, their minds filled with questions they couldn’t yet voice.

But amidst that silence, something had begun to shift.

For the first time in centuries, the enemies of the Heights—Velmourns and Stonefangs—stood together in the same clearing, speaking not of war… but of survival.

And though neither side knew how this fragile thread of alliance would hold, every person present understood one thing clearly—

If Kael failed, the Heights would fall.

And if he succeeded… history itself would change.
