Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 799: Dimensional Gap

Chapter 799: Dimensional Gap

Cedric remained ignorant about Urek’s fate. Was he alive? Was he dead? He doesn’t know.

And something like that won’t be announced by the council. Making everyone panic isn’t something they planned on doing.

But one thing’s clear, though: Urek’s failed breakthrough should’ve hurt him greatly. He won’t be seen bouncing around anytime soon. Moreover, it should have consequences for his fellow councillors. Good or bad? Well, that depends on fate.

Cedric didn’t dwell on this too much. What the council does is none of his concern unless it directly involves him.

His focus was on the continued development of the Rising Sun Sector Domain. Everything else was secondary.

The development within the territory was going well. Extremely well, even. Time was the only thing that was slowing them down, and there’s really nothing he could do about that.

Knowing this, Cedric shifted his attention to the borders. More precisely, at the area close to where the space marines were stationed.

See, there is this thing called the ’Dimensional Gap’ that serves as the ’wall’ that protected the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm. Lurking within this Dimensional Gap were the Space Marines—the army of the human council against forces that are trying to infiltrate their home.

The atmosphere within the Dimensional Gap was chaotic at all times. It’s hostile to everybody and could either go bad or worse unpredictably.

This is because the Dimensional Gap naturally formed. It existed around the same time that the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm was created. In fact, it was already there even before somebody came up with names to label the five known chaos realms of the Primitive Universe.

And each chaos realm has a dimensional gap of their own. The term was universal for every single one.

It’s commonly known that the environment outside of chaos realms was nigh-uninhabitable. In fact, the harsh environment of the Dimensional Gaps came from here, and it sure as hell doesn’t discriminate; humans, demons, dragons, mechanoids, even The Horde…it’s hostile to everybody equally.

But despite the harsh environment, many creatures could still be found lurking all over the places outside the Dimensional Gaps.

It’s not by choice, that’s for sure. Take the demons that now served as workers in Cedric’s territory, for example.

The Horde group that they came with found them scraping by around the edges of the dimensional gap of the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm.

Why are they there? Well, it’s because their ancestors had been defeated by the humans in the fight to claim the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm. Those who weren’t killed had been exiled from the realm and forced to live as nomads out there. Thousands of years later, and their numbers have dwindled, driven close to extinction.

The harsh environment of the place outside the Dimension Gap had completely beaten any idea of revenge or a comeback from them.

Honestly? How could they even entertain such ideas when they don’t even know if they could live to see the next day? They don’t have food, shelter, and sometimes, even clothes.

Luck will never favor them out there. Even if they see food, best believe they have to risk an arm and a leg for it, and there will always be competitors.

Shelter? With how finicky the environment is out there? Good luck finding one.

It’s not like none of them wanted to settle down. It’s because they couldn’t. They have to move if they want to live. Standing still was no different from courting death.

See how difficult it was for them to even survive on a day-to-day basis? In this state, how could they even entertain ideas of rebelling or re-establishing their glory?

With this knowledge, it’s understandable why the demons that now lived in Cedric’s territory acted like they were pardoned from their sins and brought to salvation.

They have a place to live in, clothes to wear, food for days, a healthy and friendly workplace, and a very safe and secure world to live in. Compared to how they used to live outside the dimensional gap, this was paradise to them.

So what if they were no different from slaves? They’d take this trade any time of the day.

But fishing for more demon slaves or any potential slaves for that matter wasn’t the reason why Cedric started paying attention to the Dimensional Gap.

It’s because his territory—the Rising Sun Sector Domain, located at the far east of the Human Council HQ—was actually really close to the Dimensional Gap and the space marines stationed there.

Cedric learned of this the moment he became the Sector Lord. He was reminded of it when The Horde Group came with the demons in an attempt to establish a nest here, thinking that this place didn’t have anybody that could threaten them.

This wasn’t him doubting the capabilities of the Space Marines stationed at this side of the Dimensional Gap, but the Horde did slip away from their radar, so his concerns would be justified.

But, no. The reason why he was paying attention to them now is because he wanted to be prepared, as always, to respond in case of emergency.

With his territory and his people being this close to it, the risks of being invaded will never disappear. Even more now that he royally pissed off the Bug Empress.

He’d already be lucky if she didn’t just appear one day and charge into his territory like a raging bull. But she wouldn’t be the Bug Empress if she let his transgressions pass without any punishment.

Cedric knows that she’d come for him. If not personally, then her minions, obviously. Her children will wage war with him for what he did to their mother; that’s a foregone conclusion.

It’s not happening yet, but that’s not an excuse to relax or be idle.

With what he knew about the Horde, it’d be a miracle if the Space Marines could actually contain them if they decided to seriously breach the dimensional gap.

Cedric isn’t one to wait for his turn on the guillotine, so he’s already making his preparations.

As for what they are, he’d keep that as a secret for now.

His hope is to never have to use them. But with how things stand, he knew that one day, his future self would pat him on the back for planning this far ahead.

And as one who refused to compromise for the safety of his family, Cedric won’t hold back either.

He’d turn the entirety of the dimensional gap into a giant fly swatter if he had to just so that he could protect his family. That’s Cedric’s resolve.

**

A couple of decades passed by quickly, and Cedric continues to do his work as a sector lord.

But just as he thought that this would just be another boring day, he was alarmed by another huge commotion.

He felt a strong yet familiar fluctuation, which caused him to look right through the ceiling of his office. It even forced him out of the building just so that he could get a better angle.

Seeing a massive phantom appearing, one that had shackles all over its body, made Cedric’s eye twitch.

“Again!?”

Yes, this familiar sight was another councillor trying to break through to the Primal Origin Lifeform Realm.

This time, it’s Gibson.

Once again, the Supreme Will was stirred into wakefulness due to this commotion.

Cedric watched as Gibson’s humongous phantom began struggling against the shackles.

The Supreme Will, wide awake once more, groaned and sent another tribulation cloud that started raining down lightning on Gibson as he continued his attempts to break through.

If the phantom’s facial expression mimics Gibson’s, then it’s clear that he’s in so much pain right now.

He should be roaring in agony, but his phantom could only scream silently as it continued struggling.

Bang!

The head shackle exploded with a bang, resembling the death and destruction of cosmic realms. Still, this commotion can’t be seen by all, only a few.

Bang!!

Another shackle undone. This one was the one around his neck.

Bang!!!

Then it’s the ones on his feet.

Cedric watched closely, almost sharing the anxiety and urgency that Gibson and the other councillors must be feeling right now.

There were only the wrist and the mid-section shackles to go, and he’d really break through this time. If he could do this, he’d become the first Primal Origin Lifeform of humanity, which will undoubtedly be a massive boon to everybody.

But…

“Oh no…” Cedric whispered.

He doesn’t know exactly how, but he could feel how drained Gibson was. His momentum got weaker each time he broke a shackle. It’s as if he poured all of his energy into breaking them and was already running out of steam.

The outrageous and nonstop lightning strikes weren’t helping either because Gibson had no way to defend himself against them. Even his machines couldn’t help him in this situation.

And so, to Cedric’s great disappointment, Gibson’s phantom fizzled out weakly. The sensation of his breakthrough disappeared, and the Supreme Will returned to its usual slumber.

From this, it’s clear that Gibson’s breakthrough has failed.

The morale of the councillors must’ve taken a huge hit from this.
