Chapter 847: Mind Your Business as we do
Chapter 847: Mind Your Business as we do
—
Nick and Pat decided not to continue with the rest of their journey.
They didn’t infiltrate the Crimson Womb Chaos Realm. Not because they couldn’t, but because there’s no need to do so. They didn’t want to provoke the ire of the crazed Bug Empress now, especially since it’s unnecessary.
Since her hatred and attention had shifted towards the Supreme Will instead of them, humans, then she might as well stay like that. Because the more time she wasted chasing after this dead thing, the better humanity’s chances were.
Sure, humans could send armies. They could harass the bugs, keep her worried, and slow down her progress just like she did to them. But that’s not necessary at all. In fact, it’s stupid and a waste of time.
The Space Marines could never inflict the same suppression as the Horde could because they will always be outnumbered. Sure, they could carry their weapons all the way to the Crimson Womb Chaos Realm and do some real harm; Nick and Pat could even lead the charge.
But why? Why do all of that effort?
They could do all of this, yes, but would it really threaten the Horde?
No. It cannot.
And it’s simply because the Horde is the Horde. They will always outnumber them, especially in their own home. And with the Hive Mind, they could mobilize every single able body at short notice.
It’s impossible for Humanity’s army to advance without being noticed. By the time they come close to the Crimson Womb Chaos Realm, the Horde is already armed and ready to receive them. That’s why they can’t do it.
So, their best course of action is to do nothing. For now, at least.
Humanity’s greatest weapon is their progressive mindset. They advance regardless of what threats are out there, seen or unseen.
Giving them time and breathing space to progress was the greatest mistake their enemies could ever do, and right now, The Horde was doing just that.
The Bug Empress wasn’t even aware that both Nick and Pat had already gone way ahead of her progress. And they’re not even as old as she was.
And unfortunately for her, she is way past her prime. She passed it even before she became the Bug Empress. Therefore, any kind of progress to her would be painfully and unbearably slow.
In terms of talent alone, dozens of humans were way better than her. She couldn’t even be compared to the current human sovereigns at all.
And this has been proven, especially when the current human sovereigns went from being nothing but a speck of dust in her eyes to a serious threat to her and her empire in the blink of an eye.
If both Nicholas and Patricia spent about a thousand years in seclusion just to comprehend all the necessary Law Essences they needed for their concept law specialties, then the Bug Empress would have to spend at least 10,000 years for hers, and that’s a very generous estimate.
The thing is, the Bug Empress was originally ahead of them. She most likely knew about the Law of Essences even before humans did. And maybe, she had comprehended at least two but no more than five law essences herself, which made her way stronger than the Human Sovereigns.
And maybe the reason why she’s hunting for the Unstable Heavenly Realm was because she was trying to understand more Law Essences so that she could be ahead of them even more.
But that’s no longer the case now.
Both Nicholas and Patricia had outpaced her already. Either of them could easily defeat, or even outright kill, her in an honest fight.
And this isn’t for the lack of trying. The Bug Empress was doing her best. She wasn’t technically idle. She just knows that she could brute force her way in. Especially not her because the Supreme Will already disliked her for what she did.
Afraid of the Supreme Will’s retaliation, the Bug Empress had to bide her time and take the slow and scenic route to her destination. The idea that the humans would outpace her probably never even crossed her mind.
But it’s different now, obviously.
After the scare with Cain, the Bug Empress had thrown all caution to the wind. She locked herself inside her chambers and refused to come out unless she comprehends an Origin Law.
And she doesn’t care about what the Supreme Will thinks about him anymore. By hook or by crook, she swore that she will wipe out the Supreme Will for daring to do that to her youngest and most precious child.
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, indeed…

Nick and Pat shared this news with the others after returning. And what good news it truly was.
They basically didn’t have to worry about the Horde for quite some time. If the Bug Empress wants to hunker down to their home with all of her children, by all means, they’re welcome to do so.
Humans won’t stand in their way.
You mind your own usiness as we do ours. Fair and square.
Whether it’s Gibson, Berk, or Urek, none had any complaints with this decision. There’s nothing to worry about, especially with Nick and Pat here.
If the Bug Empress ever changed her mind and targeted humanity again, these two wouldn’t mind making a statement right up in her face either. It’s really as simple as that.
But even as Nick and Pat were finally freed from their long-term seclusion, it didn’t necessarily mean that they could be as idle or relaxed as their friends.
Sure, they can have an easier time, especially thanks to their clones, but their priorities remain clear—gain the recognition of Origin Laws and breakthrough to the Primal Origin Lifeform Stage.
The only difference is that they could take their time now. They have to fuse and arrange the law essences they comprehended into a particular way that resonates with the Primitive Universe to gain the recognition of the Origin Laws.
Unlike Cedric, though, they don’t have a guide. Not even a basis to start with. They have to rely on themselves. Meaning that this was going to be a long, tedious, and potentially very painful trial-and-error process.
This isn’t something that could be done in seclusion. They’re past the point of comprehending at this point; this needs action.
And with this being their priority, they can’t go too far. They have to make use of the relative peace that the Horde has oh-so-graciously given to them while it’s still available.

Cedric wasn’t really any different from Nick and Pat.
Well, technically, he’s in a much better state. His true strength still remains unknown to most. He didn’t have to worry about governing his territory too closely because he was wise enough to divide the task and relieve himself of the burden, and everything has been orderly so far.
His clone at the Origin Heaven Continent was still thriving. Unlike Nick and Pat, he had a guide.
Sure, he hasn’t comprehended enough law essences to gain the recognition of a single Origin Law, but at the very least, he doesn’t have to worry about what comes after that.
Cedric has already memorized the structure of the Origin Sword Law. He had seen what he’s missing; he knows where to look, what to fuse, and how to arrange everything for the origin law resonance and recognition.
Actually, comparisons are unfair. In terms of sheer number of law essences comprehended, Cedric has much more than both Nick and Pat have comprehended combined.
He had an unfair advantage, being here at the Origin Continent, where conceptual law was rich and practically surged in waves, ready to be consumed by those who were ready and willing. The only downside was the chaotic mess that they are, but in truth, that’s hardly a downside.
Cedric was focusing on the Origin Sword Laws for now.
Up until now, he’s still digesting the gains he had during his 40-day comprehension.
The best part is that, now that he had participated in the trial, everything had been opened for him.
Previously, it would’ve been impossible for him to detect all the law essences needed for a complete origin law. Such is the rule of this place. But after he had gone through the trial and cleared it once? Everything was revealed.
Even outside the core inheritance zone, he could sense them. Of course, comprehending them inside the nebula was much faster, but it wasn’t so bad out here.
And because of this, comprehension speed had been boosted again. He’s practically comprehending a complete law essence once every week, or every two weeks at the latest.
But this only applies for the Sword Laws. Other concept laws remained hidden from him. Which makes a bit of sense, given how this place works.
He’s still quite a distance away from the next trial, and he’s been looking forward to it. Not because he’s itching for a fight, but because he wants to gain comprehension time rewards so that he can sit inside the nebula again.
But right now, all his focus was concentrated on comprehending the Sword Laws. And with his current pace, it shouldn’t take long before he completes this one.
