Chapter 2772 - 2773: Invitation Letters

"Although I am strong enough to oppose Fate's Attraction Force, this time… I will let it guide us there. It will be a unique opportunity to interact with these factions and perhaps show them our true power, while… perhaps if we play our cards well, we can make them owe us a few favors," Noah said.
"Excellently planned, my dear," Iris giggled mischievously.
"Mom! Dad! We got a lot of donuts!" Eleanora ran toward her parents.
"Some people were complaining we purchased too many," Dante laughed.
"Hahah, I told them not to buy so many, but the kids wouldn't budge…" Elizabeth said. "Let's go home and bring these for dinner, eheh."
Although Noah had his own manor-sized house, his entire family lived in houses on a large piece of land, so they could visit one another whenever they wanted.
His family, despite being ordinary humans, was rather traditional in these matters, his father coming from Europe and his mother being a Japanese woman.
While making their way home, Noah noticed something: fluctuations in the flow of Fate.
"…?"
He quickly created an illusion and made it walk back with his family while he stepped back and followed the flow of Fate.
It was a fortuitous encounter.
"Is it here? I don't see anything out of the ordinary," he spoke aloud.
TRUUUM!
But then, a moment later, he was suddenly trapped inside a different space, looking around confused and shocked.
"A Domain…! Oh no, whatever shall I do?"
As he spoke aloud, a group of thugs appeared, clearly wielding supernatural powers, overflowing with Demonic Energy and Mana, carrying cursed weapons.
"We finally caught you, bastard."
"You've been walking around our turf every day for the last month like it belongs to you or something."
"We thought you were some ordinary idiot, but you're from the Underworld too, huh?"
The thugs looked like Japanese Yakuza. Some were older than others. The younger ones were much more talkative, carrying mostly crowbars and baseball bats.
Their elders remained behind them, watching from the shadows, wielding special cursed katanas passed down through generations of their families.
"Underworld? I wouldn't say so. I truly belong to an ordinary family," Noah said nonchalantly.
"Hah?"
"He's denying it, boss!"
"Gramps, should we kill him?"
They asked their elder, who was watching from behind.
The old Yakuza furrowed his brows.
"He definitely knew what he was doing. Kill him to make an example of him."
His decision was final, and the younger thugs laughed, overflowing with Demonic Energy and Mana. They attacked Noah with their crude, cursed weapons.
Attacks hit his back, legs, arms, shoulders, and face several times as explosions of cursed demonic flames engulfed his body.
And yet…
As the smoke dissipated, Noah emerged completely unscathed.
His crimson eyes glowed with anger as he brushed the dirt off his clothes.
"That's about all you can offer me."
Noah swung his hand down.
CRAAASH!
With a single, casual attack, he split a man in half, his blood, guts, and innards splattering onto the ground.
"A-Ah…! Wha…!"
"What the fuck?"
"Aaagh!"
The thugs panicked, stepping back as they saw one of their own suddenly collapse to the ground.
The elder and the other elders of the family slowly stepped forward, leaping from the rooftops surrounding Noah.
"Stand back, kids!"
"This bastard will be handled by us!"
"You will regret ever having crossed the Giryu family, you damn foreigner!"
All the elders attacked with their cursed katanas, unleashing potent waves of cursed sword energy against him.
However.
"How dull."
Noah raised his hand.
The blood from the corpse of the man he had just killed rose into the skies.
FLAAASH!
It turned into dozens of sharp, metallic spikes.
CLANK!
All the katanas coming at him were blocked.
"Hah! As if something like that could ever…!"
However, as the elders tried to fight back…
Noah snapped his fingers.
The blood spikes became harder and stronger, shattering their katanas into pieces.
"W-Wha…?"
They impaled their bodies on the spot.
"Hm."
Noah walked toward the only man who managed to survive, who was gasping for air, groaning in agony while vomiting blood.
"No matter the world, there are always some foolish people who love courting death."
As he saw the life drain from the old man's eyes, Noah glanced at the three younger yakuzas running away.
"You are not my students, so I won't show any preferences."
Noah closed his fist, and countless blood spikes surged from inside their bodies, killing them all instantly.
"But dare I say, lessons are over."
He put his glasses back on as he looked at the bloody mess.
His Shadow quickly devoured everything, leaving nothing behind. The streets were clean as the Domain disappeared.
Then, he noticed something on the ground that two of the young yakuzas had dropped after they died.
"The fortuitous encounter…"
He smiled, grabbing two black-colored letters and checking their contents.
"You are hereby invited to participate in the Chaos Gate Entrance Exam…?"
Noah smiled, his eyes glowing brightly.
"In Mount Takao?"
He couldn't help but laugh.
"Hahaha! It is as I predicted…! Fate is begging me to go there, huh?"
He pocketed the two letters, deciding to bring them to his daughter and son later that night.
In the blink of an eye, he merged with the illusion he had left with his family.
"How did it go?" Iris asked telepathically.
"I was able to secure our entrance tickets to that mountain," Noah explained, showing Iris one of the letters.
"…?!" Iris' eyes widened. "Chaos Gate is opening an exam for new members?"
"It does seem to be the case," Noah said. "Of course, we aren't the same as that family. But they're a family of ruthless assassins and criminals. I believe these invitation letters are meant to be stolen."
"Are they?" Iris wondered.
"The letter does not specify any family," Noah explained. "It has no name. It is simply an invitation letter for whoever holds it. Whoever can get it through money, influence, or strength is worthy of joining the event that will give them a chance to become part of Japan's greatest criminal organization."
"Then we better keep these a secret for now," Iris said.
"Yeah, we better do," Noah nodded.
Both glanced into the distance at that mountain one last time before rejoining their family.
