Chapter 3128 Suppression
Chapter 3128 Suppression
Pearl stabbed.
He had no intention of dragging the fight any longer, possibly giving the White Tiger any time to recover, so he shrunk the space in front of him until the White Tiger was right in front, and stabbed.
The spear struck a hard surface, a golden glow surrounding the tiger’s forehead.
The tiger defended in time. Pearl teleported, arriving at a different location. His spear struck out again, this time finding its mark on the tiger’s back. Its fur was torn through, blood spilling out from the shallow wound.
The tiger roared. “Coward! Stop running around.”
Those words weren’t going to work on Pearl.
Pearl moved around, striking the tiger from all directions, using his attack skills so frequently that the tiger couldn’t possibly use its defensive skills all the time.
The tiger ran around, trying to catch Pearl off guard, but it couldn’t. Though he may not have the bloodline, he was just as slippery as an Azure Dragon.
Wounds began appearing on the tiger-wounds that healed at first at a steady rate but slowed down as time went on. Any wound needed Qi to heal, and the more one was healed, the faster they ran out of Qi.
There were about seven concurrent wounds on the tiger’s body when it tried something different.
Pearl struck it once again, making the eighth wound on its body, but when he tried to teleport away, he found it difficult to do so, as though something had suddenly suppressed his Dao of Teleportation.
He was surprised for a moment, clearly not expecting it to happen, and failed to notice in time when the tiger came charging for him.
Pearl managed to pull his arms into a cross at the last moment, dulling a portion of the claw strike that was directed at his chest.
The pain that came from the strike was nothing compared to the confusion that filled Pearl’s heart regarding his inability to teleport.
What was happening? Was it a formation? An artifact? How did the White Tiger stop him from teleporting? Pearl could see no item, which only added to his confusion. Had it stopped him in some other way? Had someone else come to the fight that he wasn’t aware of? Had he missed something else?
Suffice to say, he was befuddled by the suppression.
Pearl kept an eye on the White Tiger, making sure to defend against its next attack. Thankfully, while the attack had hurt quite badly, it hadn’t wounded him in any manner that would make his battle harder.
While eyeing the beast, Pearl tried to teleport again and found the suppression still active. This time, without panic, he got to feel the suppression even better and realized that the suppression was not that strong.
It was decent, but if he really wanted to, he could break through that strength with relative ease. He looked toward the tiger again, noticing something.
Its eyes were narrowed, gazes locked in focus and yet out of focus at the same time. It was looking directly toward him, but it was as though it was looking past him.
‘Ah!’ Pearl thought as he finally realized what was happening. ‘Intent!
It was the thing his brother started talking about frequently back in Hell. It was that thing that allowed him to distort space without needing to have learned the Dao.
Even Whisker raved about it from time to time, spilling words of praise for the power that allowed so many different battle arrays to function. The old man that Alex had brought along from Hell had
taught him those.
‘Intent…’ Pearl thought, ‘is supposed to be easier when you understand it. Without understanding it, the efficiency of your
application becomes extremely weak!
Since that was the case, the tiger could not have an intent as strong as it was displaying right then, as teleportation was a power way beyond its wheelhouse.
“There can only be one reason why he can do this to me,’ Pearl thought. ‘He trained for it!
The beast before him had specifically trained to stop someone from teleporting around.
‘Did they know I knew the Dao of Teleportation?’ Pearl thought for a moment before shaking away the thought. They couldn’t have. It’s possible that they thought I could teleport because I have the Azure Dragon’s bloodline. They prepared for that!
It made much more sense to Pearl.
The White Tigers likely had records on how to fight Azure Dragons, and learning a way to constrain them from teleporting around was one of the ways to fight them.
‘If he knew this, why didn’t he use it from the start?” Pearl thought, the answer coming right alongside the question. ‘Because it takes too much out of him. He likely can’t keep it up for that long!
Another question came, along with another answer.
“Then why isn’t he making use of this time to fight me?” Pearl thought, before realizing that the tiger had completed healing the eight
wounds that he had placed on it.
As soon as it was fully healed, the tiger charged forward.
Unlike last time, Pearl was ready for the attack. He blocked the attack,
striking back at the same time. He came out slightly worse in a direct conflict, but it was his enemy that was getting worse over time.
Keeping up such an intent was taking a toll on its mind that Pearl couldn’t even imagine right then.
Pearl didn’t make things easier either. He continuously tried to use his
Dao of Teleportation to flex the tiger’s intent and make things worse for it. Unlike Pearl, whose Dao was aided by the Heavens, the tiger
was using its intent all by itself.
So, it wasn’t long before it grew weak, almost all of it whittling away as the battle prolonged. The tiger understood that it couldn’t win. As much as its pride spoke against it, it had to run away.
The moment its thoughts wavered, Pearl noticed the weakness and took advantage. He broke through the suppression and teleported, arriving behind the tiger whose mind was already succumbing to pain
and added fuel to the fire.
He used White Tiger’s Roar.
