Chapter 3171 The Ancestral Bloodline Pool
Chapter 3171 The Ancestral Bloodline Pool
Entering the room where the Ancestral Bloodline pool was located was as simple as standing atop the formation before the small building and being teleported to a room inside.
The two beasts Alex had come in with showed a look of surprise at the massive interior. What looked to them to be tiny on the outside instead housed a spacious room that was larger than any hall they had
ever seen.
Towering obsidian crystals rose on each side, forming the wall of this building. Black marble covered the ground above which they stood. Alex was indeed standing, as this was one of the few places inside the Black Tortoise palace that was always kept without water.
The reason for that was at the end of the hall.
A thick smell of blood permeated the room before Alex could even look at the bloodline pool. It was so thick that Alex wondered if he was breathing in blood mist.
The two beasts slowly approached the pool, and Alex followed them as well.
The pool was of a decent size, a circle of around 6 meters in diameter and a meter deep. The entire pool except a hand-width from the top was filled with blood.
Alex had expected as much-what else could the bloodline pool be filled with? What he hadn’t expected was how the blood was filled.
On either side of the pool, two metallic structures stood about a meter tall. On the left side was a metal statue of a tortoise, and on the right side was the statue of a snake.
Both the beasts had their mouths wide open, blood pouring out from the orifice.
Alex couldn’t help but stare at the statues with a confused look.
Where was the blood coming from? Was it being created or recycled? Was both of the bloodlines mixing into one single pool?
Alex continued on ahead and stopped only when he was some distance away from the pool. He had told the outsiders that he wouldn’t enter, so he wouldn’t. He sat down cross-legged and let his spiritual sense spread all around the pool.
He kept it subtle enough that the two beasts that had entered the pool didn’t sense it. He wouldn’t want to disturb them in the slightest.
He focused his senses on the pool of blood, seeking to see just what sort of blood it was. At the same time, the two beasts slowly began cultivating while inside the pool, starting the next step in their journey that would either bring them a bright future or forever shut the door on their success.
Alex’s focus was on the blood for some time, and after seeing the blood, he couldn’t help but frown a little.
The blood inside the pool was thin. It was more than thick enough to belong to any Black Tortoise in the high Immortal realm, but considering what he had worked with the past few months, this felt incredibly thin.
Despite being diluted, however, the blood appeared to contain almost all of the necessary bloodline elements that should belong to a Black Tortoise.
“They had everything right here to begin with,’ Alex thought. ‘Were they not aware of that? Or did they not even think of using this blood since it’s so important for evolving more Black Tortoises?”
Alex couldn’t be sure until he asked the matriarchs. Given that until a few months ago they thought that the success of someone improving their bloodline from one’s blood depended entirely on the density of the blood they absorbed, the diluted blood from the pool had likely never even been in their consideration.
Alex wanted more to happen, but for some reason, despite the two
beasts starting their cultivation, nothing was changing inside the pool itself. Since evolution tended to take months even, he was ready to wait for as long as was needed.
So long as this would help Pearl in the end, Alex was perfectly happy to waste as much time as he had to.
Alex looked around, wondering how long ago this Ancestral Bloodline pool was formed. Considering the matriarch herself called it ‘Ancestral, it had to be long before her generation. He wondered if it was built during the days of the progenitor instead.
That would make it quite old. As for how old exactly, no one could give him an accurate answer. Not even the various leaders of the Heavenly beasts were aware just how long ago it was that their progenitors were alive. Considering a Celestial Heavenly beast had upward of 900 thousand years of lifespan, the progenitors could have been gone for over a million years.
A million years. Alex could not fathom the length of that time period. It felt as if he had lived for such a long time already, and it hadn’t even been 600 years for him. He couldn’t imagine how it would feel to be alive a hundred times that, let alone an entire million years.
‘I’ll surely understand that myself some day,’ Alex thought. ‘Surely!
So long as the prophecy of his death didn’t come true for a long, long time, he would be fine.
Alex quickly distracted himself, seeking other things to do. While the two Saint beasts cultivated, he focused his attention on the bloodline element in the pool of blood before him. He compared it with the bloodline he himself had gathered and wondered what was different. About 99% of what he had gathered was the same as the blood in the pool. The other 1% was excess that only his blood had. He wondered where that excess came from precisely, and reasoned if that was the part of the bloodline that came from the progenitor’s wife.
Since all Black Tortoises descended from those two, the blood he
gained had to have something from the wife’s bloodline too. Which led Alex to a series of thoughts that led him to an obvious conclusion that caused him to frown.
‘Is the blood inside the pool the purest form of it?’ he wondered, surprised. ‘If so, then how was it purified?’
