Chapter 3357 A Learning Moment
Chapter 3357 A Learning Moment
Once the arena cleared, Alex flew down to it while the many Winterborn Dragons watched in confusion.
Ashenfog followed behind and arrived at the arena alongside Alex as well. As the curiosity around the arena peaked, he explained the reason behind their sudden arrival.
“We have an unexpected guest here today,” the dragon began speaking. “This is Alex, and yes, he is a human. He has agreed to have a mock battle with some of you, so today you may experience what it is like to fight a human. It is rare that you will get such a chance, so make the best of this opportunity.”
Waves of murmurs spread throughout the arena, as this had come out of nowhere.
A dragon stood up, discernibly a female. “Why do we have to fight a human to gain experience?” she asked. “We’ve fought each other plenty of times while taking human form. Is it not the same, family head?”
A few others nodded along, but many remained expressionless.
“If you think so, how about you be the first to join us, Waystorm?” the head said, calling for the dragon.
The dragon paused for a moment before nodding and flying down to the arena. She stood on the other end, her eyes curiously looking at Alex. There seemed to be no disrespect in her eyes, just questions.
She genuinely did not understand why they would ever have to fight against a human.
The family head turned toward Alex. “We have a formation we can use to weaken our fighters to the level of their opponent. How much weaker should we make Waystorm before you are comfortable fighting her?”
Alex narrowed his eyes. Waystorm wasn’t that strong. She was only in the Immortal Transcendent 7th realm right now, so unless she had a battle power higher than 4, she could not directly beat Alex in a contest of Qi confrontation.
“It’s fine,” Alex said. “She can use her original strength. It wouldn’t be much of a training session if she was forced to hold back because of me.”
The family head hesitated. “But she is a little too strong for you, is she not?” he asked.
“I wouldn’t be sure about that.”
The family head was taken aback by Alex’s response. He still wasn’t sure what was so special about Alex that the Celestials had gotten him to take one of the last three scales of the Flood Dragon in order to gift it to him.
They had explained that getting in his good graces would be beneficial for the family, but nothing about why it would be so. As such, Ashenfog was looking forward to seeing anything he could.
“Very well then. I will leave you to it. I will be the one watching after this battle, so fight as freely as you want to.”
He nodded toward the other Divinities in the room, letting them step back from their responsibilities as he took over.
Alex walked over to the other end, standing with his arms behind his back. He looked toward the female dragon and began speaking. “Although we are to fight, this is meant to be a learning moment for you, so allow me to teach you something important when fighting a human. In my opinion, there are exactly two things that separate a human cultivator from a beast cultivator when it comes to fighting.” The female dragon narrowed her eyes. “What two things?” she asked. “First of all,” Alex said as he raised his hands forward, energy coalescing around him, “they are unpredictable.”
Multiple icicles formed around him that began shooting at the dragon.
The dragon hadn’t expected Alex to attack so soon, but Alex had telegraphed his attack long enough to give her a chance to stop it, and she did.
She swiped her claws, throwing out slashes of water at the incoming icicles, destroying them all before they could reach her.
Alex stopped a moment later, the energy vanishing. The dragon stopped as well, looking even more confused. The attack had been sudden, sure, but she had stopped it. More so than that, she didn’t understand what he meant.
“What about that was unpredictable?” she asked.
“Nothing was,” Alex said. “But that’s because I haven’t yet gotten to the point.”
He raised his hands again, attacking once more. Icicles formed around him again, shooting toward her.
The dragon reacted instantly, swiping back at the incoming icicles in an attempt to destroy them with her water slices. Only, they struggled to be destroyed this time around, nearly hitting her in
multiple cases.
She frantically fought back and only got a chance to stop when Alex stopped attacking. She stared at him, confused and wide-eyed. “What… what was that?” she asked. “That was stronger than before.”
“The first icicles were made of water energy,” Alex explained. “Since you are a Winterborn Dragon, I assume you have some sort of affinity
to water.”
The dragon nodded.
“That’s why you had an easy time with the first attack,” Alex said. “But with the second attack, the icicles were made of Yin more than water.
You didn’t expect that, did you?”
The dragon frowned. “So you lured me into thinking you had water
attacks and then used Yin attacks, is that it?” she asked. “That’s certainly a strategy to get me off-guard, but I still don’t understand how that is more unpredictable than a beast doing the same thing.” Alex nodded. “I understand what you mean,” he said, and then turned around. “See that White Tiger over there?”
He pointed toward Bai Jingshen.
The female dragon nodded.
“What spirit root does he have?” he asked.
“Metal, is it not?” she asked. “All White Tigers have metal spirit roots
from what I know.”
“Correct,” Alex said, and then pointed at himself. “What spirit roots do
I have?”
“Water and Yin,” the dragon said confidently. “You might’ve got me
had you not shown your powers already.”
Alex chuckled. “If you think so, stop this.”
He pointed his finger toward the dragon and shot out a blinding bird made up of nearly fully yellow flames.
