Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 243: Devil’s Dominion

Chapter 243: Devil’s Dominion

According to everything Liora knew, the invisible array encasing the Inferno Valley was a natural creation formed through a series of coincidences.

It trapped any being that happened to enter it or be born in it, preventing them from leaving it and entering the Demon World.

This was true for the Devils who went in, and also held true for the Fire Elementals.

“In a certain sense, the invisible array is both a form of protection for the Fire Elementals, as well as a prison. If they have found a way to gain partial control over it, the situation of this Demon Layer is bound to change soon.”

Thinking of this, Liora’s expression turned solemn.

Although she had no evidence regarding her “findings”, she had a strong hunch that her suspicions were true.

Through some method, the Fire Elementals had succeeded in seizing partial control over the array trapping them and were even able to use some of its functions.

The moment that thought arose, Liora’s eyes narrowed, and she shot up.

She decided against her initial plans of staying here and investigating her recent spoils of battle.

With a wave of her hand, the array covering her dispersed, and the traces she left behind were destroyed.

Then, she took a final look in the general direction of the Inferno Valley and left.

She was not worried about getting lost. She had killed several Devils over the past few days and had obtained several memories related to this place.

Though her understanding of this area could not be considered deep, it was at least enough for her to survive.

The Demon World was neither a planet nor a floating continent.

Instead, it had a cake-like structure, with many planes stacked on top of each other like cake layers.

Each of these planes was huge, many times larger than worlds like the one Liora had previously visited.

As such, each of these planes possessed its own unique environment and characteristics that set it apart.

Due to the differences in their ecosystem, people liked to refer to these planes as Layers.

As time passed and these Layers increased in number, they also obtained an accompanying name to make communication easier.

The Inferno Valley was located at the 173rd Layer of the Demon World. It was at its southern end and was one of the four forbidden places for Devils.

This, however, did not mean that nobody dared to venture into it.

Just like the several invaders that Liora had met, there were many beings who wished to enter it and try out their luck.

Therefore, over time, many cities ended up being built around it.

Each of these cities had its own ruler and related forces, as well as the confrontations that came from that.

As Liora landed on the ground and looked at the giant city not far away, she couldn’t help but recall the time when she had just arrived at the Crucible.

The situation now was quite similar to then, making her feel that although her strength had undergone major changes, she was still a country bumpkin.

Shaking her head, Liora pushed those inexplicable thoughts aside.

Her focus shifted to reality as she raised her head and observed the giant city.

Unlike any other city she had ever been to before, this one was different.

This was true whether it was compared to the cities in the Crucible, as well as the cities in the world of Knights.

That was not only because the city was many times larger and shrouded in an ominous and fierce atmosphere, but also because Liora sensed several powerful auras within it.

Some of them could contend with hers, while there were even some who faintly surpassed her in strength.

With a sweep of her consciousness, Liora noticed that there was at least one Greater Devil stationed in this city.

However, she didn’t investigate further, afraid that she would be discovered and thus end up in trouble.

“It deserves to be the Demon World. Even a mere city in one of its many Layers has such a being stationed in it.”, she couldn’t help but mutter as she slowly approached the city.

Liora didn’t soar in the sky and fly there, but instead decided to walk on foot.

Although such a decision made it so that the journey took longer, it also led to her getting a better look at her surroundings.

As Liora got closer to the city, she noticed that there were several Devils like her.

Most of them were pure-blooded Devils, but there were also some native creatures walking among them, like the Fire Elementals.

These beings also observed each other, with several pairs of gazes landing on Liora.

This was only natural. People would naturally test each other, scanning for potential opponents and enemies.

However, when Liora sensed the faint greed and malicious intent in some of these gazes, she snorted coldly.

Her aura spread and oppressed those who had targeted her, while the only ability she had not showcased so far—Devil’s Dominion—was activated.

Liora’s appearance remained the same, but in the eyes of those people staring at her, she seemed to have transformed.

Her body grew bigger while her aura became even more terrifying, making them feel as if they were staring into the abyss.

Several muffled groans echoed outside the city, while the sound of explosions and blood splattering soon followed.

In an instant, all the people who had targeted Liora had exploded!

Many hisses reached Liora’s ears, and the next moment, the many consciousnesses that were about to investigate her hurriedly retreated, as if scared by the previous display of strength.

To this, Liora remained calm. She coldly snorted one last time to show her dissatisfaction and resumed her journey as if nothing had happened.

In fact, Liora was not trying to act cool.

All the people who were going to the city with her were only at the Lesser Devil stage, and thus, the achievement of killing them hardly piqued her interest.

In her eyes, they were a bunch of weaklings that could easily be crushed.

Of course, this didn’t mean that this encounter had no effect on her.
