Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 245: Bloodflower City

Chapter 245: Bloodflower City

Lords—this was the term used by the Devils to refer to True Devil beings.

It was both a title of respect and a title used to represent the power that such beings possessed.

Although the Demon World was vast and there was an uncountable number of Devils in it, the ones who succeeded in becoming True Devils were few and far between.

Each of them possessed a certain extraordinary characteristic that made them stand out among their peers, and thus, held a considerable amount of power and influence.

To put it another way, the status of True Devils in the Demon World was similar to the status that Great Knights possessed in the world of Knights.

It was a level of influence that allowed Lords to ensure their safety under normal circumstances, and perhaps more importantly, create their own force.

It was such pieces of information that arose in Liora’s mind as she heard the mutterings coming from behind her.

This information had also been the reason why she had not hesitated to display her strength, instead of pretending to be an ordinary Devil.

She knew that being a True Devil in the Demon World was far safer than being a Lesser Devil, and such a status held mostly advantages and hardly any drawbacks.

“Moreover, I’ve yet to test the full extent of my combat power. I was able to suppress both the True Heart Devil and the Fire Elemental with ease, relatively quickly.”

“So far, I’ve yet to find an equally matched opponent.”

Liora couldn’t help but wonder: would the limit of her combat power be the peak of the True Devil stage?

Would it faintly surpass it?

Or even…?

Thinking of the last part, she subconsciously glanced in the direction where she had previously sensed the Greater Devil.

She almost wished to go there and confront that opponent.

Of course, she wouldn’t do such an unwise thing. She quickly forced herself to calm down.

Liora knew that her main goal when coming to this city was not to make enemies out of random Devils, but to collect more information.

Both regarding this area and the Inferno Valley, as well as for the Demon World as a whole.

Although her bloodline memories indeed granted her some basic information, it was completely different to see it and confirm it in person.

Most importantly, she also wanted to check if there were any discrepancies.

With that in mind, Liora didn’t linger near the entrance for long.

After a few seconds of thinking and having made several plans, she walked deeper into the city.

The city was already quite impressive from the outside, but was even more unique and bizarre from its interior.

Giant buildings made of precious materials could be seen everywhere, one built next to another, while each “pedestrian” in the streets was a creature that would bring great terror to most ordinary worlds.

Yet, these beings now acted as if they were ordinary, mortal people, afraid of making any trouble.

They didn’t fly but instead walked on their feet, moving from building to building as if they were commuting to work.

Liora knew why that was and was not surprised.

Like the Crucible, many Devil cities were built in each Layer of the Demon World, numbering in the millions, if not even more.

However, this didn’t mean that all the cities were equal.

In fact, only cities with a Greater Devil in charge were considered “true” cities.

Their residents enjoyed great benefits, but also had to adhere to stricter rules—the rules set by its ruler.

Liora’s current location, Bloodflower City, happened to be one of those true cities.

Of course, this was not a coincidence.

Liora had specifically come to this city, knowing that only in such a populous place would she be able to find the information she was seeking, as well as a suitable environment that could support her further advancement.

Walking through the city, Liora’s gaze scanned the surroundings.

She watched the various Devils wandering through the streets, going from one place to another.

Like most of the Devils she had met before, their appearances varied.

Some were grotesque and terrifying, while others looked unassuming, possessing a nearly human appearance.

What surprised Liora, however, was that the vast majority of these Devils were humanoid.

Although they were either too tall or too wide to be considered humans by most people, it was a fact that their outline faintly resembled that of a human.

Seeing this, Liora’s eyes narrowed, but her footsteps didn’t stop.

While taking in her surroundings and memorizing the overall structure of the city, she continued her journey.

Consciously, she avoided the areas where the True Devils were residing, unwilling to conflict with them before she obtained some information.

“But besides gathering intelligence, I also have another important thing to do.”, Liora whispered inwardly as her footsteps sped up.

It was only some time later that she finally came to a stop, right in front of the entrance of a giant building.

Although it was several stories high and its walls were covered in grotesque patterns that twisted eerily, Liora recognized its true identity.

This horrifying-looking place was none other than an inn, a place for Devils visiting Bloodflower City to stay.

Seeing this, Liora knew that she had come to the right place. With a step forward, she walked inside.

As she did, she felt a surprising force trying to act on her body.

Although she felt that she could resist it as long as she wanted, she restrained her demonic energy and allowed it to operate.

The next moment, Liora opened her eyes and found herself within a vast room.

It looked like a tavern, with several Devils seated at tables scattered throughout it, chatting loudly with each other like ordinary customers.

If one had to say, the only differences between this place and a normal tavern were the terrifying appearances of the customers, as well as its extremely huge size.

However, Liora noticed something different.

The previous force she had sensed resurfaced in her mind, and coupled with her own strength and her familiarity with that power, she soon recognized it.

“The power of space.”, she thought as she scanned over the room.

Several Devil Runes flashed deep within her pupils. As her vision expanded and her field of view changed, she discovered a well-disguised secret.

Although this tavern looked ordinary, it was in fact not so much as a room. Instead, it was a completely different space.

In fact, the whole inn seemed to be a separate demi-plane in Liora’s eyes, as if a special being had taken action and specifically carved it out.

And most likely, this was indeed the case.

“I would find it difficult to perform such a feat even with my current strength and knowledge of Devil Runes.”

“Unless I obtained a suitable already-made array, I would have to spend decades researching in order to achieve something similar.”, she thought.

This once again made her realize the unfathomable depth of the Demon World.

An inn she chose at random possessed such a valuable “treasure”, an array which would have made most True Devils turn green with envy.

Though many thoughts raced through her mind, Liora’s actions did not pause.
