Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 252: True Devil Kazrien

Chapter 252: True Devil Kazrien

Liora stood opposite the visiting True Devil, secretly sizing him up.

Just like most of the Devils in the city, this one was also human-adjacent.

He was more than three meters tall, with wide shoulders, while his neck supported a human face that resembled that of an old, dying man.

Although he had a kind and polite smile that should have given a good first impression, he gave off a sense of sneakiness, as well as some sliminess that only certain businessmen naturally possessed.

However, Liora did not judge this person based on his appearance.

She could feel that this person was a True Devil, and was most likely a veteran at this stage.

Her interest was immediately piqued.

The only True Devil she had come into contact with so far had been the True Heart Devil, and considering the circumstances at the time, she didn’t have the time to fully observe her opponent.

In a sense, this middle-aged man was the first True Devil she had surveyed up close.

Sensing her gaze and noticing the curiosity in her eyes, the middle-aged man nodded in greeting before speaking up:

“I’ve already heard that a new Lord has appeared in the city, but I didn’t expect that Your Excellency would be forced to stay in such a shabby place. If you wish, I can offer you a mansion to stay in during your visit.”, he said and then introduced himself:

“My name is Kazrien. I’m one of the six True Devils residing in Bloodflower City.”

Hearing these words and understanding that this person did not come here to have a fight, Liora’s expression softened.

Although she felt a little annoyed to have been suddenly interrupted, she knew better than to make an enemy for no reason.

Thus, she nodded her head.

“I’m Liora.”, she gave her name without much worry.

“I wonder what the reason behind your visit is…”, she promptly questioned.

The True Devil, Kazrien, did not show any surprise when he saw her straightforward attitude, having long been used to such behavior.

Most Devils were like this, unwilling to waste time in meaningless chit-chat.

“Your Excellency has just arrived in the city, and you’ve not settled down properly yet, so you probably don’t know.”

“It’s actually very rare for Lords to come to Bloodflower City. Most of the time, the visiting True Devils are related to one of the Lords in the city.”

“Your arrival is unexpected. I’m afraid that I’m not the only one who has heard of your news.”, Kazrien explained with a polite smile before leading the conversation in another direction.

As the two were chatting, Kazrien happened to reveal a lot of information regarding the city, seemingly unintentionally.

From his mouth, Liora gained a rough understanding of Bloodflower City.

As a true city, it was natural that it had a Greater Devil as its ruler.

According to Kazrien, that person was Duke Bloodflower.

No one knew if the city was named after this person or if the Duke received this title after becoming the city’s ruler.

All that was known was that ever since people could remember, Duke Bloodflower had been the city’s sole ruler.

“But Duke Bloodflower seldom involves themselves in the city’s affairs.”

“Most of the time, they are in seclusion, either practicing to advance further, or invading other worlds to further their knowledge.”, Kazrien commented.

Since the Duke did not involve themselves in the city’s affairs, several different factions had been created, each led by a True Devil.

In a sense, these people were the true rulers of the city, provided that they paid their “tax” to the Duke on time.

Of course, these factions were different from the organizations one would meet in ordinary worlds.

The forces led by the True Devils existed solely to help them gather resources and make it easier for them to advance.

If the True Devil in charge of them died, their organization would instantly dissolve.

Similarly, if a True Devil believed that their organization was no longer helpful, they would not hesitate to tear it apart and rebuild it.

“I’m mainly involved in the commerce side of the city. I’m not afraid to tell you that the majority of the shops in the city are under my chamber of commerce.”, Kazrien said, and a hint of pride flashed across his face as he did so.

It was obvious that he prided himself on being able to become one of the six powerful Lords.

After a brief pause, he continued. His hand reached into his pocket, and he took a black card out before handing it to Liora:

“If Your Excellency happens to visit one of Greed’s Chamber of Commerce’s shops, you can use this card and state my name.”

“As long as the people in charge see it, they will do their best to satisfy all of your requests.”, he stated.

Regardless of whether Liora cared or not about such treatment, she knew better than to refuse Kazrien’s offer.

She understood very well that this was not so much of a gift, but rather a link that connected them together and brought their relationship closer.

Thus, she stretched her hand and took the card while thanking him.

Seeing that she didn’t refuse, Kazrien nodded his head.

Then, he finally got up.

“Since Your Excellency has just arrived in the city, I’m sure that you will be busy. I won’t keep you any longer.”

“My only goal in coming here was for us to meet each other. Now that it’s done, it’s time for me to go.”, he said.

After the two exchanged a couple more pleasantries, Kazrien really did as he said.

The moment Liora relaxed the arrays’ control over the area, he turned into a blurry image and soon disappeared.

Although she stood outside, Alpha failed to notice that the visitor had already left, a testament to Kazrien’s power and strength.

Seeing this, Liora’s eyes subconsciously drifted to the black card in her hand, her gaze staying on the word “Greed” for a couple of seconds.
