Chapter 1116 - Capítulo 1116: Live
Capítulo 1116: Live
Demons are not popular in any capacity.
Sure, they humanoid ones are usually good for a lay, and if you want an enemy to suffer an undesirable fate then there’s no one better to call than one of them.
However, demons are prone to backstabbing. They’re really good at feigning manners, and then when they get what they want, they lash out at those they once called friends.
As such, even demons who aren’t particularly scheming anything in the moment are treated rather coldly by those they happen to be around.
They’re all quite used to it. It’s impossible to hurt their feelings by now.
Lilith has experienced this kind of treatment more times than she could count. She had come to expect the casual mud-slinging or looks of lust and distrust. All of her sisters had.
That was perhaps the reason why all of them were completely baffled by the casual treatment they were receiving.
Lilith stared down at the cut fruit placed in a bowl in front of her.
She looked up at Izanami slowly, who was responsible for placing it in front of her.
“…What? Would apples have been better? I thought they were a little bit too on the nose.” Izanami sounded embarrassed.
“No, these are… fine.” Lilith poked the cut fruit in her bowl. “…What exactly are they?”
“Ah, they’re pears. I know fruits don’t typically grow in the underworlds and this was the first thing I had to eat after I left Yomi. I thought you might enjoy it.”
Eisheth pierced the flesh of the fruit and was enamored by the sweet, fragrant juice that spilled out.
Qlipoth fruits are filled with demonic blood and bile. Hades’ pomegranates are dry, tasteless, and eating them is like chewing on small bullets.
She knew immediately this would be different.
Eisheth, Lilith, Igrat, and Naamah ate together in silence.
Despite their prior non-reactions, it was clear they were quite moved by something as simple as a pear.
Some even seemed to choke from eating so fast.
“No need to rush, ladies. We can make you as much as you want.” Ayaana smiled.
Lilith wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. “Apologies. We’ve shown you something disgraceful.”
“My son is utterly averse to the concept of spoons. Believe me, there’s nothing you could show us that we haven’t seen before on a smaller scale.”
The four queens’ gazes turned to the wall, where a picture of K’ael hung with the rest of the children.
They had no ideas she was talking about Apophis.
“…Cute.” Lilith murmured.
“He is on the outside…” Igrat snorted. “Little rodent won’t come to me no matter how much I hold out my hands. No one in this damned house likes me…” she grumbled.
Abaddon narrowed his eyes. “My father-”
“Yes, yes, I understand, I’ll spend my life atoning. I just wanted to complain a bit.” Igrat sighed as she kept her gaze outside the window.
Lilith noticed the familiarity between the two groups, but didn’t comment on it.
For right now, there was only one thing that really interested her.
She nonchalantly pushed around the remainders of fruit in her bowl, unsure of how to bring up everything she wanted to ask.
“…My memory is fragmented. I only remember bits and pieces of my life after meeting him. I don’t exactly think that’s a bad thing. But it all feels… a bit like a bad dream now. How?”
Sif tapped her fingers against the table impatiently.
“She was so broken up by what happened to you that she ate all of your grief and hysteria. But the actual job of healing and moving on is still up to you. Sorry. You shouldn’t have to deal with any of this at all.”
Lilith let out a small, amused noise. She was pretty sure this was the first time she had been apologized to.
“You’re sorry, huh…?” She smiled. “That’s nice, but I don’t really need it. You all know how we demons are. Tenacity is our defining trait.”
“That said… If possible we would like to speak to that woman.” Eisheth chimed in. “She did us a favor and we aren’t fond of being indebted.”
“Forget about it.” Sif dismissed. “No repayment needed, no long sappy conversations required, just run off and live your own little lives prince-of-demons-free.”
“We would still like to talk to her.”
“Not happening, Demon Barbies. I got plans for the next two hours so just think of me as a messenger pigeon and learn to live with that.”
Ayaana, who sat beside her, raised a brow.
Sif refused to meet her gaze. “It’s exactly what you think it is. Don’t shame me.”
Ayaana snickered and didn’t say anything.
Lilith shifted her gaze between Sif and Izanami. A small connection began to form within her brain.
“So that woman I saw is…”
“Cool, huh?”
“I suppose. So, since you are the reigning expert on the matter, you’re more than capable of answering our question. Why did that woman choose to help us?”
Sif shrugged nonchalantly. “Do you need a reason?”
“Would hardly be here if we didn’t.”
“Sorry, might be shit out of luck then.”
“… What?”
“You were hurting. She was there. There is no bigger reason. No grand design. You don’t have to turn over a new leaf in life or start worshipping her or anything. Just go and live your life however you want, unburdened. Even if that means you become enemies with us later down the line, she won’t regret her choice.”
Lilith put her fork down slowly. “How can you say that?”
“God, can you stop asking me questions already?! I want to go have sex with my hot wife!”
“””Babe!”””
Abaddon, Ayaana, and Izanami struck her over the head one after the other.
A trio of knots slowly grew on her head. Sif folded her arms in a huff. “…Sorry.”
“No you’re not.”
“You’re right.”
Her spouses raised their hands to hit her again.
“What are we supposed to do now?”
Naahmah had been relatively quiet so far. Her sudden voice surprised all at the table.
She lifted her red-eyed gaze and stared at the family across from her with a faraway expression.
Ayaana seemed to find that funny.
“It just so happens that our house is a little empty as of late… and your sister here is in need of some form of company since, as she’s said, no one here really likes her.”
The demon queens all looked at each other at once.
“…I suppose-”
“Great, so we’re in agreement! Don’t touch my husband, don’t touch my wife, don’t fight in my house, don’t touch my kids, and don’t eat shit in the fridge with my name on it! K, thanks, bye!”
Sif stood up suddenly and picked up Ayaana in a princess carry.
She ran down the hallway with her in her arms, giggling like a greedy little imp.
“Ehehehehe..! Don’t worry! We’ll be alone real soon my sweet darling! You’re in for a world of pleasure..!”
Ayaana couldn’t decide if this woman was the bulk of Zahara’s personality or not. They were so impossibly similar.
Abaddon yawned suddenly and lifted his body.
“We’ll be stepping out for a few days ourselves… make yourselves comfortable during that time.”
The dragon started to float away on his own, but suddenly turned back just as he was about to cross the threshold.
“Oh, right… Your sons might not want you to stick around whenever they get back, so be prepared for that. They can be a little spiteful sometimes.”
Abaddon left the room shortly after his little reminder. And the demon queens were left frozen in place as they thought about the two people they hadn’t even considered.
–
Izanami had authority over the house just like the rest of her partners did.
It was easy for her to widen the accommodations made for Igrat now that the demon queens were awake.
They didn’t seem terribly picky about anything, so Izanami designed them what simple furnishings she could and left them to get more rest.
She felt bad about it, but Izanami also used her powers to discreetly sift through the minds of the former monarchs while she was in their presence.
After the whole fiasco with Ziz, Izanami wasn’t her usual trusting self.
If there was any possible chance that these women were harboring that animal, she had to do something about it.
Her search didn’t turn up anything, so there was a pretty good chance they were in the clear. Nevertheless, Izanami would keep splitting her focus for the time being and maintain a watch on the girls until she could completely clear them of suspicion.
She felt a little bad about suspecting those women after everything they’d been through, but her family’s well-being came first.
Izanami closed the door behind her and started back to her room so that she could get ready to leave. Or maybe just set up her recording cameras.
However, as she was moving down the hall she saw another door open on the 17th floor.
Isabelle was coming out of her room with something small and furry in her hand.
She shushed at it impatiently, never noticing that Izanami was watching her until it was too late.
“O-Oh, Izzy… hey! How are things??” Isabelle hid her hands behind her back and smiled nervously.
Izanami didn’t need to ask where her sister in law was going. Or why she was going there.
She understood it all without exchanging a word.
“Parents certainly are troublesome, aren’t they?”
I’m finally watching my hero academia and why are none of these citizens worth saving. Deku might be a better man than me because I think I would have to let all of those mfs die
