First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2484 - Principles Only Exist at the Edge of One’s Sword

Chapter 2484 – Principles Only Exist at the Edge of One’s Sword

The Tianxiu Sword Shrine was a supreme sacred ground in the hearts of the world’s sword cultivators.

It was home to the Divine Stele of the Dao of the Sword, which bore the marks of the most dazzling Daos of the Sword in the God Domain’s history.

The name “shrine” was actually chosen because of the primordial chaos power buried here. Legend had it that that chaos power dated back to the earliest days of the God Domain, and it contained a supreme power of the Laws connected to the Dao of the Sword.

It was just that despite the passage of countless years, no one had ever managed to acquire it.

It was only just recently that something changed in the Tianxiu Sword Shrine. That chaos source had finally revealed its presence, startling the world and drawing widespread attention.

But… then the Three Purities Daoist Court led a group of other top factions to seal the area off, preventing anyone else from entering to investigate.

……

The Tianxiu Sword Shrine was located in a stretch of ancient, primeval mountains that stretched seemingly endlessly into the distance.

The mountains were home to over a hundred perilous forbidden zones both great and small.

That aside, there were a few hidden realms in spacetime rifts.

Most of these forbidden zones and hidden realms had long since been explored and emptied of good fortune.

However, a few were so perilous that they could threaten the lives of even Master Gods. These still held good fortune yet to be unearthed.

No ordinary person could have hoped to seal off the Tianxiu Sword Shrine, but the Three Purities Daoist Court had joined forces with several other top factions, dispatching huge numbers of experts to seal the periphery off completely.

Never mind ordinary experts, not even Master Gods would dare attempt to break past them lightly, because if they did, they’d irrevocably offend the Three Purities Daoist Court and all of their allies! Who’d dare to risk it?

But that didn’t mean that people weren’t angry. Sword cultivators in particular were indignant.

Thus, the area around the shrine’s entrance had a huge crowd in addition to the experts of top factions tasked with keeping all others out.

Most were here for a spectacle and to gather information, but some had come to demand an explanation!

After all, this world had never lacked those unafraid to die.

“Throughout the ages, the Tianxiu Sword Shrine has been a sacred ground. No one has ever dared to claim it as their own. What right do you have to be so tyrannical?” said an older-generation sword cultivator, his hair and beard bristling with fury.

But the only response to his questions was a burst of uproarious laughter. No one took him seriously.

The experts stationed near the entrance were led by Dong Ming, an elder of the Three Purities Daoist Court. He was a Seven-Tribulation Master God, and he was currently seated cross-legged on a boulder. His eyes were shut, and they didn’t so much as twitch at the old man’s question.

Being ignored so blatantly infuriated the old sword cultivator, who roared, eyes bloodshot, “Back then, Senior Li Fuyou set a rule. He proclaimed that the Tianxiu Sword Shrine belonged to the world, and not to any person, much less to any faction. Everyone can come here to contemplate the Dao of the Sword, no matter who they are!

“It isn’t just sword cultivators like he who follow this rule. The world’s factions have always acknowledged it, too. The Three Purities Daoist Court is blatantly trampling the rules. If Senior Li Fuyou finds out, he won’t let you off!”

His shouts boomed throughout the firmament.

The other sword cultivators in the area chimed in, voicing their agreement. They wanted an explanation from the Three Purities Daoist Court and its allies.

Their collective uproar was quite a spectacular sight. Many of the onlookers couldn’t help but get riled up.

In the past, no one would have concerned themselves with talk of Li Fuyou, because all of them knew that the legendary Li Fuyou had died a long time ago in the Boundless Battlefield.

Who’d concern themselves with rules set by a dead man?

But now, everyone knew that Li Fuyou’s reincarnation, Su Yi, had returned. His name had long since shaken the heavens, especially after the battle in the Hazy Sea Forbidden Zone. He now shone as brilliantly as the midday sun!

Who’d dare to disregard the rule he’d set in his past life now?

“Silence!” Suddenly, a cold snort rang out, suppressing all other voices.

Elder Dong Ming of the Three Purities Daoist Court slowly opened his eyes, and his terrifying majesty swept throughout the entire area. Countless people looked stricken.

“What right does Li Fuyou have to demand that the Three Purities Daoist Court follows his rules?” Dong Ming’s eyes flashed like lightning as he scanned the crowd before locking onto the older-generation sword cultivator. “You thought you could use Li Fuyou to threaten the Three Purities Daoist Court? You deserve to die for that!”

Boom!

He attacked directly, condensing a hand large enough to blot out the sun. It descended ruthlessly upon that older-generation sword cultivator.

The old sword cultivator couldn’t dodge in time. He was forced to the ground with ease, blood gushing from the seven apertures of his face. Throughout his body, countless bones broke.

Those who’d joined the old man in criticizing the Three Purities Daoist Court looked stricken. In just one strike, Dong Ming had intimidated everyone here!

“Kill me if you want. So what? Heaven and earth have their own justice! The people have their own judgment!” said the old man, his eyes bulging with fury. He roared, “I can say with certainty that the Three Purities Daoist Court will pay for this!”

“Justice? Judgment?” Dong Ming couldn’t help but laugh derisively, his expression utterly disdainful. He wasn’t the least bit concerned. “The Three Purities Daoist Court has stood at the pinnacle of the God Domain all this time. We’ve killed countless blind, muddle-headed fools like you. How could things like ‘justice’ or ‘judgment’ shake us?”

A deathly silence descended over the crowd. Even the older-generation sword cultivator fell silent.

He knew that, of course. How could he not? Top factions were above the rules that others had to follow. Who could possibly have failed to realize that?

But… Realizing that didn’t mean he couldn’t object!

“I just know that if you keep acting so tyrannically, you’ll meet with disaster sooner or later! You’ll pay for what you’ve done!” said the older-generation sword cultivator, gnashing his teeth. “When the Dark Days of Legend arrive, the heavens will fall, and the Three Purities Daoist Court will be the first to suffer!”

“You’re courting death!” Dong Ming’s expression darkened. He waved his sleeves through the air.

Boom!

A streak of glittering silver Dao Light reminiscent of a sharp, glinting edge cleaved at the pinned older-generation sword cultivator.

The old man’s life hung in the balance. His eyes bulged with fury, but he showed no sign of fear.

Bang!

The Dao Light exploded just before it reached the older-generation sword cultivator, vanishing without a trace.

A tall, upright figure appeared out of nowhere and helped the man up.

“A sword cultivator’s ‘arguments’ are best expressed on the edge of his sword. Now, allow me to try and ‘talk’ some sense into them,” the new arrival said softly.

His blue robes instantly drew the attention of everyone present. That’s Su Yi!

Countless eyes widened with astonishment. The onlookers felt as if they were seeing a legend play out before them. That legendary, unparalleled expert is now standing before the Tianxiu Sword Shrine!

“Senior Su….” The sword cultivators in the crowd shook, their eyes lighting up and their hearts filling with indescribable excitement.

If the Tianxiu Sword Shrine was the sword cultivators’ holy land, then Su Yi was their supreme deity!

There was no one else like him, and none could replace him!

He was like an unsurpassable legend of the Dao of the Sword, someone who’d have dazzled any age he appeared in, someone the world’s sword cultivators could only look up to!

The older-generation sword cultivator who Su Yi had just helped up trembled; he was obviously overcome with emotion.

Inwardly, he murmured, What could this old man possibly have done to be worthy of you saving me, Fellow Daoist Su? Even if I died this instant, it… would all have been worth it!

“Su Yi!” The experts stationed at the entrance to the Tianxiu Sword Shrine were obviously startled too. All of them looked stricken.

Dong Ming shot to his feet and bellowed, “Retreat!!”

The crowd didn’t know what to make of that. “???”

The disparity was far too enormous. Dong Ming had only just insisted that Su Yi’s past lives had no right to command the Three Purities Daoist Court. He’d sneered, too.

But the moment Su Yi entered the scene, Dong Ming wimped out without the slightest hesitation!

In truth, it wasn’t just Dong Ming. The experts accompanying him, no matter their cultivations and no matter their factions of origin, panicked too.

It was only when Su Yi wasn’t there that they dared look down at him and disregard him. The moment Su Yi actually showed up, not one of them could stay calm. Without exception, they freaked out.

This was Su Yi’s current prestige. He’d yet to even attack, but his enemies’ ranks were already collapsing!

“Retreat! Hurry up and retreat!”

“Send word to the ancestor! Hurry!”

The whole area was in chaos, with startled cries arising on all sides. The experts stationed near the exit all scampered off in panic.

The sight left the onlookers wide-eyed and tongue-tied.

But Su Yi naturally wouldn’t just let them run away. He waved his sleeve, and…

Boom!

Countless streaks of searing, resplendent sword qi poured down, like the river of stars falling from the heavens. They slammed down to earth, hard.

The skies shattered as countless rifts tore open.

The mountains and rivers caved in. It was as if the entire stretch of heaven and earth had been overturned.

The fleeing experts all died brutal deaths amidst the downpour of sword qi. Blood splattered the air, like blooming red fireworks.

It was over in an instant. Everything soon returned to stillness.

Heaven and earth lay in ruin. The ground was covered in scars. The surrounding landscape had been reduced to scorched earth, and the wind now carried the stench of blood.

Every last expert stationed outside the entrance to the Tianxiu Sword Shrine had died!

With a wave of his sleeves, Su Yi overturned heaven and earth and slew an entire group of enemies!

When the distant onlookers saw this, they fell into a daze, rooted to the spot.

“This is the ‘logic’ that only exists on the edge of a sword,” Su Yi said softly. “Don’t be so foolish as to attempt to reason with your enemies going forward. There is no ‘retribution’ in this world. If you’re unwilling to accept something… speak with your sword!”

His voice wasn’t loud, but everyone heard every word. Many of them lowered their heads in shame.

It was true. They’d been righteously indignant earlier, and they’d tried to talk sense into their enemies, but their attempts… were truly insipid!

“Right, the rules I set in my past life are still in place. The Tianxiu Sword Shrine still belongs to the whole world,” said Su Yi.

With that, he set off. Before long, he’d vanished deeper into the Tianxiu Sword Shrine.

Only the dazed onlookers remained behind. A long time passed before they came back to their senses.

The Melting Sun Hidden Realm.

This was one of the hundred-plus hidden realms of the Tianxiu Sword Shrine.

It was incomparably dangerous, as numerous solar fragments were scattered throughout the hidden realm, all of them hot enough to melt metal. Divine flames rose into the air.

Here, the sky was always on fire, and a perpetual waterfall of divine flames poured down from the heavens. They could easily incinerate even gods.

The ground was covered in holes. Everything was enveloped in a sea of flames. Even the sky was enveloped in a burning air of destruction.

Not even Master Gods would last long here. Even they would quickly find their bodies incinerated!

But now, a fierce battle was underway in the Melting Sun Hidden Realm.
