The men were busy preparing lunch inside the house.

As the hostess, Wen Ran was conversing outdoors in the courtyard with Bai Xiaoxiao and Li Shi Yao.

The warm autumn sun shone down from the sky, filtering through the branches of the white magnolia tree in the yard, casting shadows on the white jade round table beneath.

The table full of snacks appeared dappled in light.

Golden sunlight hit the water glasses, sparkling like scattered gold flecks.

Li Shi Yao hadn’t come empty-handed; she bought gifts for the three little birthday stars, Ziyi, Momo, and Xinxin. However, she had been sitting for over ten minutes and still hadn’t seen her cousin come out.

Nor did she see her cousin’s rival in love.

Instead, the sound of a car was heard outside the villa as Gu Kai and his father Gu Yan arrived together.

Upon entering the villa, Gu Kai narrowed his long eyes slightly when he saw Bai Yiyi sitting at the white jade table, then turned to look at Tongtong on the lawn.

Tongtong was happily playing a game, completely unaware that her dad and grandpa had arrived.

In the courtyard, only a few women were present, with no sign of Mo Xiuchen and the others.

“Ranran, where are Xiuchen and the others, are they all in the kitchen?” Gu Kai asked warmly as he greeted Wen Ran.

Wen Ran took the gift from Gu Kai’s hand and replied with a smile, “They’re all inside. I’m not sure if they’re all in the kitchen since we haven’t gone in to check.”

The living room wasn’t as fresh-air-filled, sunny, or floral-smelling as the courtyard.

“I’ll go check,” Gu Kai said, glancing towards the living room, smiling.

As soon as he finished speaking, Luo Haofeng and Meng Ke emerged from the living room.

“They came out, so you don’t need to go in.”

On the lawn, Momo accidentally fell over, and upon seeing this, Gu Yan quickly called out “Momo” and hurried over to help her up.

“Grandpa, it hurts.”

Momo hadn’t fallen for the first time that morning.

Previously, she would pick herself up and continue playing.

Gu Yan tossed Momo up playfully twice and then put her down, crouching to check Tongtong’s legs.

“Grandpa, it hurts.”

Over there, Xinxin, seemingly affected by the other two, also ran over.

Standing in front of Gu Yan, she pointed at her hand with an aggrieved look.

After checking each of them, Gu Yan asked Ziyi, who was standing two steps away, “Ziyi, did you fall and hurt yourself? Come over so Grandpa can see.”

Ziyi shook his head, “No, I didn’t fall.”

As he spoke, his handsome eyebrows slightly raised, exuding pride.

He looked as if he was saying he’s a man and wouldn’t fall easily like the three little girls, let alone cry out in pain when he did.

Gu Kai and Wen Ran walked over to the white jade round table, and Luo Haofeng and Meng Ke also approached after coming out of the living room.

“Sister Xiaoxiao, your cousin came out.”

Upon his words, Wen Ran couldn’t help but chuckle softly.

An Lin turned her head to look elsewhere, though her profile still showed traces of a smile.

“Sister Xiaoxiao, who is that next to my cousin?”

Li Shi Yao raised her head a few seconds later, looking at Meng Ke and Luo Haofeng, and quietly asked Bai Xiaoxiao.

Hearing this, Wen Ran glanced at Li Shi Yao, her delicate brows furrowing slightly.

Despite being ten paces away, Li Shi Yao fixed her gaze on Bai Xiaoxiao, seemingly very interested.

“You’ll find out later.”

Bai Xiaoxiao did not directly answer Li Shi Yao’s question.

Standing next to him, Luo Haofeng’s peripheral vision caught Meng Ke’s displeased expression. Following his line of sight, he saw Li Shi Yao sitting next to Bai Xiaoxiao.

Fearing Meng Ke’s rebuke, Li Shi Yao quickly explained, “Cousin, I came with Xiaocha, and in the afternoon, I wanted Sister Xiaoxiao to visit our house…”

“The afternoon isn’t possible. When we visit here, we usually don’t leave until after dinner.”

Gu Kai spoke up.

“Dinner?”

Li Shi Yao blinked her eyes in slight surprise.

Bai Yiyi smiled gently and took over the conversation, “Yes, at Ranran’s house, we always leave after having dinner, so Sister Xiaoxiao can’t leave in the afternoon.”

“Then how about tomorrow, Sister Xiaoxiao, shall we go to my cousin’s house tomorrow?”

Li Shi Yao looked at Bai Xiaoxiao with anticipation, “Sister Xiaoxiao, since you went last week, you haven’t visited for several days now; my aunt misses you.”

“Right, cousin?”

Seemingly afraid that Bai Xiaoxiao might decline, Li Shi Yao also looked at Meng Ke.
