Chapter 821: Only the habit of holding hands with me
When Bai Xiaoxiao heard this, she immediately widened her eyes in shock and, after a second, quickly responded, “Okay.”
Bai Xiaoxiao grabbed her car keys and walked towards the car parked outside the gate, while Wen Ran immediately followed. On the other side, the phone rang twice, and Gu Kai’s warm and pleasant voice came through, “Hello, Ranran.”
“Brother, arrange the delivery room. Sister Li is having stomach pains; she might be giving birth. Also, arrange for an ambulance…”
Wen Ran remained calm, quickly explained the situation, and Bai Xiaoxiao had already started the car and was waiting for her. She jogged to the car, got in, and before she could buckle her seatbelt, the car drove off.
On their way to Li Qian’s home, Wen Ran called Li Qian to comfort her continuously. Ten minutes later, Wen Ran and Bai Xiaoxiao arrived at Li Qian’s place, where the nanny had already returned.
They helped Li Qian downstairs, and the ambulance had arrived. Seeing that the accompanying doctor was Shen Yuting, Wen Ran breathed a sigh of relief.
...“Ranran, don’t worry, she will be alright,” Shen Yuting quietly reassured her before getting into the ambulance.

Li Qian gave birth to a healthy boy, even though the baby came a bit early. That evening, Chen Bin rushed back from out of town.
When he arrived at the hospital, Wen Ran and Bai Xiaoxiao were keeping Li Qian company. As Chen Bin entered the room, drenched in sweat and breathless, he went straight to Li Qian’s bedside, held her hand, and said self-reproachfully, “Wife, I’m sorry. I didn’t know the baby would come early. You’ve had a hard time.”
Wen Ran and Bai Xiaoxiao exchanged a glance, then quietly left the room. As they closed the door, Wen Ran saw Chen Bin kissing Li Qian’s forehead. Her lips curved into a slight smile; Li Qian was truly happy.
“Sister Li is really fortunate,” Bai Xiaoxiao remarked sentimentally, thinking about another expectant mother’s family they had seen at the hospital, which made her feel disheartened. In comparison, Li Qian was indeed fortunate.
Wen Ran also remembered that scene, nodded, and said quietly, “Compared to that man who went home to sleep until his child was born, Big Brother Chen is really good to Sister Li.”
“That woman is really pitiful,” Bai Xiaoxiao sighed. “If it were me, I’d divorce him right after coming out of the delivery room. What a man.”
“In this world, there are probably more than a few men like that.”
Wen Ran glanced at the hospital room and said softly, “Xiaoxiao, let’s go see Sister Li’s baby.”
Bai Xiaoxiao teasingly glared at her, “You love babies so much, why not have one with Mo Xiuchen? It hasn’t been long, and you already want to see another.”
Wen Ran’s eyes flickered, and she lowered her eyelids without speaking.
Having a child with Mo Xiuchen? That might be her greatest extravagance in this lifetime. Right now, she couldn’t even overcome her own emotional barriers, much less be with Mo Xiuchen. Call her cowardly or pretentious, but she just couldn’t control her wild thoughts.
Seeing that she wasn’t speaking, Bai Xiaoxiao laughed again and said, “Ranran, if you don’t like Mo Xiuchen, find another man to have a baby. But for the sake of your next generation’s genes, make sure he’s a good-looking one.”
“Why don’t you go?” Wen Ran looked up and glared at her. Bai Xiaoxiao raised an eyebrow, “I really am considering it. If I don’t meet someone I like, I might as well have girl and boy twins to keep me company.”
Bai Xiaoxiao fantasized about that happy scenario and giggled foolishly again.
Wen Ran also laughed, “You think it’s that easy, don’t you? Girl and boy twins aren’t just something you can decide on. I’m not particularly insistent on that; I just want to have one boy and one girl, where the boy is the elder brother and the girl is the younger sister…”
“Ranran, the man to have babies with you is here.”
Bai Xiaoxiao winked at Wen Ran, who turned her head to see Mo Xiuchen and Gu Kai coming out of the elevator, catching his eye just as Mo Xiuchen smiled.
“Ranran.”
Seeing Wen Ran, Mo Xiuchen’s mood became incredibly joyous, and his deep eyes also gleamed with a smiling charm so intoxicating that one could lose their soul with just one look.
“How did you get here?”
Wen Ran asked in surprise.
“Oh, I came to see Gu Kai. He said you were here, so I came over to check on you,” Mo Xiuchen said casually, pausing before asking, “Ranran, have you had dinner yet?”
“Not yet.”
Wen Ran blinked and shook her head.
However, she wasn’t hungry either. She had spent the afternoon snacking with Bai Xiaoxiao. By the time Li Qian called, it was already around five or six o’clock. She and Xiaoxiao had stayed with her at the hospital for another two hours. After the baby was born, she was captivated by the little one…
By then, it was really quite late.
A hint of indulgence appeared in Mo Xiuchen’s eyes as he tenderly said, “Since you haven’t eaten, let’s go have dinner first.”
“Ranran, you go have dinner with Mo Xiuchen. I should head home too,”
Bai Xiaoxiao did not want to be a third wheel. Seeing that Mo Xiuchen’s gaze was fixed intently on Wen Ran and ignoring her existence, she interjected before taking her leave.
Wen Ran was startled and instinctively called out to her, “Xiaoxiao, let’s have dinner together before you go.”
“No, no, you guys go ahead. I’ll eat at home,” Bai Xiaoxiao said without turning back, waving at Wen Ran as she walked away.
Seeing Bai Xiaoxiao leaving, Gu Kai also found an excuse to leave, “Ranran, Mo Xiuchen, you guys go and eat. I still need to make rounds. Mo Xiuchen, take Ranran home later.”
“I know.”
Mo Xiuchen was pleased with his tact.
Wen Ran watched as one by one, they all left. She pouted sulkily, yet Mo Xiuchen caught her hand. His deep, magnetic voice reached her ears, “Ranran, what do you want to eat?”
Wen Ran avoided his intense gaze and pursed her lips, “Anything.”
“Anything?” Mo Xiuchen chuckled lightly, his eyes filled with indulgence as he gazed at her, “Alright, I’ll take you to eat ‘anything.’
After saying this, his lips curved up into a broad smile, looking extremely pleased as he pulled Wen Ran along with him.
Wen Ran glared at him, “Mo Xiuchen, let go. I can walk by myself.”
Mo Xiuchen stopped, his gaze sweeping over their clasped hands. He looked at her and said, “Ranran, if you’re not comfortable, pretend I’m not me, think of me as someone else.”
Wen Ran widened her eyes in astonishment, “I’m not used to holding hands with other men.”
As soon as she said it, she wished she could bite off her tongue. Wasn’t this implicitly telling him that she was only used to holding hands with him?
Mo Xiuchen laughed out joyfully, his expression full of triumph as if he had outsmarted her, “Ranran, I know you’re only used to holding hands with me, so stop struggling.”
“Mo Xiuchen, you…”
Wen Ran was angry, calling out his full name. Hadn’t he said he wouldn’t pressure her?
“Holding hands is nothing,” Mo Xiuchen said and paused, then suddenly leaned in slightly, his rich masculine scent enfolding her ear, “As long as it’s not a kiss or more… it doesn’t go against your principles.”
“…”
Wen Ran’s eyes widened, her face instantly becoming flushed.
