Chapter 823: 822 I fell in love with Ranran again
Mo Xiuchen’s demands were not high.
As for Wen Ran, she had never thought about being with another man, even if he married another woman, she wouldn’t remarry.
She loved him, together or not, it didn’t affect her love for him.
When Mo Xiuchen heard her words, the smile on his lips deepened into a captivating allure as he assured her, “Don’t worry, I won’t let you be all alone, I will always be with you.”
Having weathered so many storms before, they now had decades ahead of them. He wasn’t in a hurry for this moment; he was even less willing to pressure her into sadness and tears, forcing her to retreat and flee.
He wanted to regain his memory first and then use his love to slowly untie the knots in her heart, even if it took a lifetime, he was willing to do so.
...Wen Ran looked at the tender smile on his lips, suddenly feeling her eyes moisten. She chuckled, turned her face towards the window, and let the night breeze blow in through the half-open window, drying the mist in her eyes.
Ten minutes or so later, Mo Xiuchen parked the car outside a shopping mall, got out of the car, and opened the door for Wen Ran, smiling and saying, “Ranran, get out of the car.”
Wen Ran had been daydreaming out the car window just now, and only when she looked up did she see he had brought her to a mall. She blinked in surprise, “What are we doing here?”
Hadn’t he invited her to dinner?
Mo Xiuchen just smiled without saying a word, extending his hand in front of the car door, waiting for her to place hers in it.
Wen Ran hesitated for a moment but still extended her hand to him. Held by his broad, warm grasp, her heart immediately softened like the night wind outside.
Once they entered the supermarket, Mo Xiuchen, with Wen Ran in tow, headed straight for the elevator. During this time, the mall was crowded with people coming and going.
Using the excuse of preventing others from bumping into her, Mo Xiuchen, who was initially holding her hand, let go, wrapping his long arm naturally around her slender waist and half-pulling her into his embrace.
“Ranran, it’s crowded.”
Just as she was about to move, his deep voice fell into her ear.
Wen Ran stiffened; indeed, it was crowded. In the summer heat, many nearby residents liked to bring their children to the supermarket for cool air. And facing them was a group of high school students. She didn’t dare to struggle anymore and just let Mo Xiuchen hold her in his arms like that, feeling the warmth of his arm through the thin fabric, slowly penetrating her skin and seeping straight into her heart…
Until they got on the elevator, Mo Xiuchen showed no sign of letting her go. Amid countless glances around, Wen Ran’s face flushed with embarrassment. She struggled lightly and said, “Mo Xiuchen, let’s push a cart.”
A deep glint flickered in Mo Xiuchen’s eyes, seemingly aware of her thoughts, but he didn’t refuse. Still holding onto her, he walked over to the shopping carts, reached out to pull one out, and finally let go of her.
With her newfound freedom, Wen Ran took a deep breath in secret to steady her frantic heartbeat. Mo Xiuchen, walking ahead, slowed his steps when he saw she hadn’t caught up and turned back to wave at her, “Ranran, hurry up.”
“Okay!”
Wen Ran smiled and caught up with him. Mo Xiuchen didn’t ask her what she wanted to buy.
Instead, he decisively took the lead and managed to pick out vegetables and seafood before taking her to the snack aisle, “Ranran, do you need anything else?”
“I don’t need anything.”
Wen Ran shook her head, curious in her heart. Was he buying these ingredients for Nanny Zhang to cook?
It seemed he was planning to take her back to the suburban villa tonight again.
She wasn’t opposed to going back there; that place was their shared home.
Although he had transferred it to her, in her heart, it was still their common home.
Mo Xiuchen watched her for a few seconds, then without seeking her consent anymore, he started tossing various snacks from the shelves into the cart.
After circling the fruit section and buying what was needed—and even what wasn’t—they headed toward the checkout.
“Mo Xiuchen.”
As Mo Xiuchen pushed the shopping cart, encountering Cheng Jia who was pushing her own cart as well, Wen Ran was half a step behind. Thus, Cheng Jia saw Mo Xiuchen first.
She called out in surprise, and when she saw Wen Ran following beside him, her expression changed dramatically.
Mo Xiuchen’s expression suddenly darkened upon hearing Cheng Jia’s appellation.
His gaze towards her was sharp and cold, and even in a place like a shopping mall, he did not give her any face, “Don’t ever call me that again.”
Cheng Jia’s face turned pale in an instant.
She glared hatefully at Wen Ran, took a step forward, and looked at Mo Xiuchen excitedly, explaining, “Mo Xiuchen, you really misunderstood me that day. It was all Wen Ran’s fault. She tried to harm me and even wanted to kill you.”
“Shut up.”
Mo Xiuchen snapped, and a cold gaze shot towards her from the bottom of his eyes like ice.
Chastised by his rebuke, Cheng Jia trembled and fear flashed in her eyes.
Mo Xiuchen shifted his gaze away in disgust.
When he turned to Wen Ran, he regained his gentleness, and even his voice became warm and pleasant, “Ranran, let’s go.”
Cheng Jia’s complexion completely drained when she saw his contrasting attitudes towards herself and Wen Ran, turning as white as paper.
Even her body trembled slightly.
Had she not witnessed it with her own eyes, she would never have believed that Mo Xiuchen, a man who had lost his memory, could still be as tender and affectionate towards Wen Ran as before.
The way he looked at Wen Ran was enough to drive her mad.
Those days in D Country.
She had imagined, time and again, that one day Mo Xiuchen would fall for her and treat her just as he did Wen Ran.
If she could have his love, she would die without regrets.
But why, after doing so much and devoting herself to him wholeheartedly, did he only show her cold indifference…
What did she lack compared to Wen Ran? What was so good about Wen Ran that he could still show such deep affection towards her even after losing his memory?
“Mo Xiuchen, have you regained your memory?”
She heard her own voice, sounding somewhat ethereal.
While staring intently at Wen Ran with eyes brimming with pain, the words, however, were addressed to Mo Xiuchen.
Unless he remembered, how could he possibly treat Wen Ran that way?
Mo Xiuchen let out a cold snort, observing her shock and jealousy, a trace of disdain flashed in his eyes as he said contemptuously, “I have not regained my memory.”
“Then how could you possibly…”
Cheng Jia’s voice trembled, how could he possibly.
Mo Xiuchen suddenly laughed.
That laugh was more cruel to Cheng Jia than if he had killed her.
When he turned to look at Wen Ran, he gently lifted his hand to tuck a few strands of hair that had fallen in front of her face behind her ear, his movement tender and doting.
He made no attempt to hide his love for her, “After losing my memory, I fell in love with Ranran again.”
Cheng Jia took two steps backward, nearly managing to steady herself.
The shock was so great it might as well have been a thunderbolt from the blue, perhaps even less devastating than Mo Xiuchen’s indifferent statement, “After losing my memory, I fell in love with Ranran again.”
She was completely stunned.
Her mind was in utter chaos, devoid of any thoughts.
Mo Xiuchen had no patience to deal with her, and his cold gaze retracted. Turning to the woman beside him with the warmth of spring blossoms, he said, “Ranran, let’s go!”
