Gathering Wives with a System

Chapter 238: Playboy, Tailor

Chapter 238: Playboy, Tailor

Isaac stared up at her, unsure whether to laugh or sigh.

He ended up just giving her a small wave and an awkward smile.

“You can keep working,” Celia said. “I’ll see you at breakfast.”

With that, she moved back from the window and disappeared from sight.

Isaac was about to return to the fields when he felt hands slide over his shoulders from behind, wrapping around him lightly.

A warm presence leaned close, and a whisper brushed against his ear.

“Would you look at that? I never knew my Isaac had such a talent for being a playboy. You must have done something amazing last night if she already looks head over heels for you.”

Isaac rolled his eyes and stepped away.

He turned, and sure enough, Professor Catherine stood there, carrying a teasing smile. It wasn’t subtle either. It was the kind of smile that made her intentions clear, she was enjoying this too much.

“So,” Catherine said, tilting her head, “are you going to propose to Celia? Or are you waiting for her to beat you to it?”

Isaac rolled his eyes, and decided to change the subject. “I got some new ingredients. Can you get them tested and tell me what they can be used for? And I’ll need the vegetables tested too.”

He handed her a small spatial ring. He’d already stored a few samples inside.

Professor Catherine accepted it easily, though her teasing smile didn’t fade in the slightest.

“Of course. But you’re avoiding the question,” she said.

Isaac ignored her and walked back toward the house.

He went to the gym first and cleaned up. By the time he came out of the bath, Alice had woken up. She looked well-rested. Her pale face was now filled with energy.

Isaac rubbed his hair with a towel as he stepped into the room.

Alice was sitting there.

Her eyes turned to him.

“You’re up. How are you feeling now?”

Alice didn’t reply immediately. She just sat in silence, watching him carefully. Her eyes trailed over him as if studying something. Isaac frowned slightly at her quietness.

“Is there something wrong?” he asked.

Alice stepped toward him without a word.

She raised her hands and cupped his face, turning his head left and right, then lifting his chin.

After a moment, she crouched down, her fingers brushing over his stomach. She pinched at the muscles on his abdomen before leaning back a little.

“Did you somehow get more handsome?” she finally asked, her tone almost accusing.

Isaac blinked, then gave a small shrug.

“Yeah, I did,” he said, thinking it must’ve happened due to the body evolution.

“Can you stop getting more and more handsome already,” Alice muttered and stepped away with a soft sigh.

A few minutes later, a knock came at the door.

Professor Catherine’s voice followed. “Isaac, I’ve brought the tailor.”

“Alright,” Isaac called back. “Give me a minute. I’ll open it.”

He quickly slipped on some clothes before answering the door.

The tailor was a fashionable woman.

She entered with her tools already prepared.

Professor Catherine guided her inside, and soon enough the woman turned her attention toward Alice.

Alice stood patiently as the tailor circled her, measuring tape moving quickly. She worked with practiced ease, taking precise notes on Alice’s frame without making Alice uncomfortable.

Her expression remained professional, though she raised her brow once or twice.

“You’ve got quite a good figure,” the tailor commented.

Alice only nodded, as cold as always.

Within moments, the tailor began her work. Her skills were clear; she didn’t waste time. Fabrics flowed under her hands, mana weaving into the threads as she stitched and cut. In less than half an hour, a new set of clothes was ready for Alice.

The outfit was both fashionable and practical. The material adjusted easily to her wings and tail, sitting comfortably without restricting her movements. It looked good, and it fit naturally, as if it had always belonged to her.

Alice tried it on. The clothes hugged her body snugly, highlighting her figure without overexposing. She looked both graceful and a little seductive, her wings and tail only adding to the effect.

The tailor nodded with satisfaction. “Perfect. It complements you well.”

Alice didn’t say much, just offered a quiet “thank you.”

After the tailor left, Isaac and Alice were alone in the room. He looked at her closely. The new outfit really suited her.

“You look good in that,” Isaac said.

Alice gave him a sidelong glance, and a sense of satisfaction appeared in her eyes. Seeing that, Isaac reached out, trying to touch her wings and tail.

She quickly stepped back.

“I need to prepare breakfast,” she said, as if escaping.

Before Isaac could say anything else, she had already turned and walked out of the room.

He sighed quietly and followed after her a few minutes later, settling into the living room while the smell of cooking spread from the kitchen. Alice moved smoothly, preparing the dishes with practiced motions. Soon enough, plates of food were set out on the dining table.

Celia came down the stairs right on time. She greeted Isaac with a warm smile that Alice did not miss.

“Good morning,” Celia said brightly.

“Good morning,” Isaac replied, nodding back and thought this was their third greeting, though he didn’t mind it. ’I guess it’s really a good morning considering everything that happened.’

Alice glanced between them, before taking her seat at the table.

Professor Catherine arrived shortly after, and the four of them sat together for breakfast.

The atmosphere was calm, though Isaac could feel subtle tension beneath the surface.

The matters about the governor still needed to be discussed, and then there was Emily’s advancements.

For now, though they ate in peace.

Isaac spoke up as the breakfast continued, “Professor, I’ve completed all the Class Advancement Quests except for the evolutionary trial. I wanted to know if you have any information about it. It would help me prepare myself before I start it.”
