Chapter 1035: Build Up
The speech went on longer and covered a few more additional points, like how imperial citizens could help accelerate the preparations for the Great Gathering, and if the accumulation of Merit Points was going to still be in effect despite the war technically being over. Finally, he reminded them that the Great Gathering was also going to be the day that their rewards would finally be handed out based on the Merit Points each individual had accumulated during the entire period where they could be earned.
When the speech was over, hours-long videos of the war were finally made public for people on all sides to access, which showed both transparency but also acted as a warning to anyone that could think of escaping that the empire had enough manpower to chase after them.
Despite that, a few people still attempted to escape. The empire had deliberately turned a blind eye, allowing some of them to get into ships and get away. But they soon realized why exactly it was so easy for them to gain access to ships, as they found themselves locked within the planetary shielding system that the empire had already completed implementing on all habitable planets, moons, satellites, and anything that housed life in large enough quantities. This now acted as both security for external problems while also making sure what was on the inside remained there as well.
At the same time, a new live stream feed appeared showing a single, uninhabitable dwarf planet with a massive wormhole, nearly double its size, in the path it took to orbit its central star. It slowly started being swallowed by the wormhole as the side feed showed where it was going to exit, which turned out to be an empty space, a location outside any star system.
Though many expected to see the planet undergoing a catastrophic situation, having lost the influence of its star system, surprisingly, that didn’t happen. The answer came moments later as the feed highlighted a moon-sized object that acted as the new star, affecting the dwarf planet the same way its original star did, allowing it to resume existing as if nothing different had happened.
It took the majority of people watching the feed just a short moment before they could pinpoint exactly what the reason for the feed was, and immediately, talk about the area for the final fight, as people had dubbed it, started.
While all of this was happening, Gaia was also working full-time expanding the number of existing quantum superclusters using all of the materials they now had their hands on from all of the conquered civilizations, to ensure that they had more than at least ten times the computing capacity needed to ensure the Great Gathering happened without any potential problems. The moment a new supercluster was completed, it was immediately handed over to Mnemosyne, the AI responsible for memories, as she used them to catalog the brain data of all the billions of new individuals who were now being added into the system with each passing hour. This was in order to go through all of their memories, catalog them, take the important parts, and highlight them depending on their importance according to imperial importance guidelines.
She was not going through everything just for the preparations of the Great Gathering, as that was just a small percentage of everything she was currently doing. To her, that event was no different than any other event the empire held that required her help, as she always gave her all no matter what. Her main objective was making sure the Akashic Records had all bits of information available to them cataloged and ready for instant use.
Although it was only a small part of everything she was doing, it was currently consuming nearly half of the computing power available to her, as she needed to filter the crimes committed by every marked individual that was highlighted from the brain data filtering. Based on the severity of the crimes, together with them being among the highlighted prosecutable crimes, she had to decide if they were worth being prosecuted or pardoned.
It was a tall order to do for hundreds of billions of people, but with an entire month of preparation available to her along with the compute resources, she was confident that she could finish it with enough time to do more than ten checks to ensure nothing was missed or misinterpreted.
At the same time, imperial citizens who had finished digesting the address returned to doing their daily things. For those who were scheduled to be controlling their avatars, they found themselves now working in different parts of placing everyone inside the Medpods for the Great Gathering, which was one of the controversial things the empire was doing. Quite a few individuals even argued that the empire was acting no differently than Hitler had he won the war, but the majority of them knew that it was far from that, so there were no problems in having everything move ahead of schedule.
As for the final fight on the selected dwarf planet, the feed remained active, but with nothing actively happening, not many people watched it live. The number of viewers increased slowly with each passing minute as the week was slowly swallowed and the day of the fight approached.
Before long, the day of the final fight finally arrived. Although there were still more than twenty hours until the fight was scheduled to start, more than fifty billion people had already tuned in or had the feed open on a mini-tab, as they wanted to see if anything was going to happen before the time arrived or if anyone was going to try and do something to give themselves an unfair advantage.
Humans who now had a whole week of going through detailed recounting of the things the Grand Xor’Vak had done throughout his existence couldn’t help but be worried that things might go wrong, as the records were enough to remove the thought of anyone challenging him in the first place, no matter how strong they grew. Some even pleaded or asked the emperor to just not go ahead with the fight, as it was a needless risk when they already had the entirety of the Conclave in their hands.
