Chapter 589 - 589: Snake Egg
Flynn was exploring the area with two students from the Ancient Academy.
His luck seemed to be on his side, as shortly after entering the white labyrinth, he encountered two friends from the same academy.
Flynn, looking around at the trees made of white crystal stones, grumbled irritably to his companions, “Damn it, there’s no treasure here at all. Everywhere you look, it’s just these damn white crystals. They’re completely useless!”
“And I still haven’t seen that damn Charles. He’s probably lucky, staying so far away from me. Otherwise, I’d definitely give him a good lesson!”
One of his companions tried to comfort him, “Don’t rush it. This place seems different from the area we passed earlier. If we look carefully, maybe we’ll find something.”
Flynn nodded but sighed regretfully. “As for Charles, I have a feeling he must have been dealt with by some other genius Beast Master. After all, many of the Beast Masters from the Haunted Marsh hold a grudge against him, as do those from the Abyssal Depths.”
He sighed again, still wishing he could personally teach Charles a lesson.
Just then, a faint strange sound echoed from the white crystal tree forest, and Flynn immediately became alert, scanning the area for the source of the noise.
But before he could spot anything unusual, footsteps sounded from behind him.
The three students from Ancient Academy turned around at once, eyes fixed on the direction of the footsteps.
Charles slowly walked into view, with Zara following behind him. In a low voice, Zara said, “Charles, is this a good idea? They have three level-six Beast Masters. We should’ve run as soon as we spotted them!”
This situation was different from before. There were no ferocious beasts attacking, and Charles had appeared openly. If a fight broke out, they would be at a major disadvantage!
Charles looked at Flynn, who had already entered the white crystal forest, and a slight smile curled at the corners of his mouth.
He had always remembered Flynn and those two students from Ancient Academy.
What a coincidence, to run into them right here.
Confidently, Charles answered Zara’s question, saying, “Run? Don’t worry, the ones who’ll be running soon are them.”
Zara’s eyes widened as she looked at Charles. There were three level-six Beast Masters on the other side!
And those three level-six Beast Masters were on high alert, watching Charles and her. Even if they wanted to launch a sneak attack, they couldn’t.
Wasn’t Charles worried at all?
At that moment, Flynn burst into loud laughter and shouted,
“Hahahaha! Charles, you’re really not the sharpest tool in the shed, are you? And your luck’s no better either, showing up right in front of me.”
“Tsk, tsk, tsk. You just entered the secret realm, and like us, you’ve found nothing. Soon enough, you’ll be too injured to continue exploring.”
“What a shame!”
Another Ancient Academy student chimed in, “Yeah, if you kneel and beg us, maybe we’ll spare you some of the pain later.”
“A Beast Master from the Abyssal Depths, daring to compete with us genius Beast Masters from the Haunted Marsh for a spot? It’s utterly ignorant!”
“If it weren’t for you, none of our students from the Ancient Academy would have been killed by that guy, William!”
Charles felt a bit helpless. The students killed by William had nothing to do with him; those guys had come looking for trouble with him!
Zara, standing behind Charles, hesitated and said, “Charles, we should leave. If something happens, we won’t be able to complete the Queen’s mission.”
Zara was extremely worried. She felt that the three level-six Beast Masters in front of them weren’t ordinary. Each one of them was stronger than her.
If a fight broke out, she was certain that both she and Charles would lose!
And if they lost and got severely injured, they wouldn’t be able to complete the Queen’s task. The only reason they hadn’t left immediately was because Zara still wanted to persuade Charles.
After all, Charles had helped her out of a tough spot, given her the precious purple-quality miracle drug, and he also knew Queen and Lord Joshua.
Charles glanced at Zara, then at Flynn and his companions, and replied, “It should be soon.”
Zara’s confusion deepened.
What exactly was “soon”?
At that moment, following Charles’s gaze, Zara looked at the three level-six Beast Masters and suddenly gasped in shock, her eyes filled with disbelief!
Flynn paused for a moment, as if realizing something, and slowly turned around.
What he saw was a terrifying sight.
The white crystal trees were surrounded by massive white serpents, each with sharp horns on their heads and about two meters in width, their length indiscernible. These serpents completely encircled them!
The white giant snakes flicked their crimson tongues, revealing dagger-like fangs, looking incredibly dangerous.
A cold sweat instantly appeared on Flynn’s forehead. He immediately shouted, “This is bad, we need to run!”
The number of white giant snakes was overwhelming—there were at least thirty or forty of them. Their aura was similar to that of an ordinary level-six Beast Master. If there were only a few, they wouldn’t pose much of a threat. But now, with so many of them, Flynn knew they wouldn’t stand a chance against these white giant snakes!
Without a moment’s hesitation, Flynn, along with the two other Ancient Academy students, tried to escape quickly.
But just as they turned to flee, a sharp, eerie howl rang through the air.
An arrow shot through the air, moving at incredible speed toward the direction they were running!
“Boom!” The sound of an explosion followed.
The speed of Flynn and his companions’ escape immediately slowed, and the giant snakes behind them seized the opportunity, launching an attack!
Flynn cursed loudly, “Damn it! Charles, you’re taking advantage of the situation!”
The other two Ancient Academy students, equally frantic, summoned mystical beasts to defend themselves.
At that moment, only five or six of the giant snakes were attacking; the others were still watching, seemingly believing that there was still some other threat outside.
In response to Flynn’s cursing, Charles just smiled.
He knew very well that if there were treasures in this place that could level up mystical beasts, then, like that white lake, there must be some ferocious beasts lurking around.
When he said “soon,” he was referring to these white giant snakes—they were about to appear.
Now, it was Charles’s turn to take control of the situation.
Charles pulled out a new arrow, drew his bow, and aimed at Flynn, slowly saying, “You saw that last arrow. Blocking your escape is no problem at all.”
Flynn dodged a giant snake’s bite and shouted, “Charles, what do you mean? You can’t kill anyone in the secret realm!”
Charles responded, “I haven’t killed anyone. If you die, it will be because of these white giant snakes.”
“Even if you don’t die, you’ll be heavily injured. Don’t doubt my ability.”
At once, Flynn panicked—not just because of Charles’s words, but also because more giant snakes were starting to attack.
He shouted, “What exactly do you want to do?”
Charles didn’t answer. He glanced at the giant snakes, and behind him, a hexagram array appeared. As soon as Mia emerged, she flew toward the trees behind the giant snakes.
With Flynn and his companions drawing the giant snakes’ attention, Mia was hardly hindered.
Only then did Charles speak, “It’s simple. Throw your storage items over here, and I won’t stop you from leaving.”
Flynn and the others immediately shouted, “Impossible! We’ve found nothing! You want us to hand over our storage items? We’d be losing everything!”
Charles did not speak further, instead, he shot an arrow.
One of the Ancient Academy’s level-six Beast Masters, who was dodging the attacks of the giant snakes, suddenly heard the sound of an arrow slicing through the air beside his ear.
He was about to dodge when he realized the angle and timing of the arrow were just too perfect!
If he tried to avoid the arrow, he would be bitten by the giant snake!
Ignoring the arrow meant he would be caught in the explosion, and he would be injured either way!
There was no way out!
Just as he hesitated, the explosion went off.
This unfortunate guy not only had a large chunk of flesh bitten off by a giant snake but was also caught by the blast radius!
Flynn widened his eyes and immediately shouted without hesitation, “I agree! I agree!”
The last Ancient Academy student had no choice but to shout as well, “I agree too.”
Charles smiled with satisfaction. Just as he was about to have Flynn and the other Ancient Academy student throw their storage items, Mia flew out from the forest.
In her mouth were several snake eggs the size of fists, and in her claws, she was gripping a few more. One of the eggs, due to its smooth surface, slipped from her grasp and fell to the ground, landing right in front of the white giant snakes.
Immediately, all the snakes became furious. They abandoned Flynn and the others and quickly left the forest, rushing toward Charles without hesitation, following Mia.
Charles slapped his forehead. These snake eggs were the treasures recorded on the map, capable of increasing the level of mystical beasts.
What he hadn’t expected was the accident that led the white giant snakes to notice Mia.
The snake eggs were more important than Flynn and the others, after all.
Without any hesitation, Charles directly shouted at Zara, “Run!”
Zara widened her eyes, glancing at Mia above and the white giant snakes chasing them. She never would have expected things to turn out like this.
Then, the two of them started fleeing the area desperately.
Soon, the white giant snakes, perhaps realizing they had strayed too far from the forest, stopped chasing. They let out several enraged roars and, reluctantly, began retreating back.
Charles stopped in his tracks. Mia placed the snake eggs on the ground and started devouring them.
Seeing this, Charles summoned Little Gold and had it eat the remaining snake eggs as well.
In no time, all the snake eggs were completely devoured. Zara instinctively took a few steps back.
Charles gave her a puzzled look, and Zara shyly said, “Serpent People are also oviparous.”
