Global Beast Mastery: Only I Can See the Hints

Chapter 631: Full Command Over the Situation

Chapter 631: Chapter 631: Full Command Over the Situation

Aldany gazed at the distant light, a brilliant smile spreading across his face.

“I can escape now!”

He muttered to himself, overcome with the joy of surviving the ordeal. His mind was filled with the exhilaration of escaping, and he almost felt as though he had already outrun Charles’ pursuit.

With only one step left before reaching the exit, a glowing arrow suddenly landed behind him.

It was the arrow Charles had shot from the Chasing the Moon Bow.

“Aldany, there’s no escape for you! Stop right now, and I’ll make it quick! But if you keep running, when I catch you, I will torture you mercilessly,” Charles shouted loudly.

Aldany naturally didn’t believe Charles’ words.

He didn’t respond, continuing to flee at the highest speed possible.

The exit was so close that Charles could no longer catch up to him.

Charles turned his gaze toward Mousie. Mousie jumped into the shadow and, in the blink of an eye, emerged from another shadow.

Mousie positioned itself directly between Aldany and the exit.

Aldany, now fully enraged, realized that he had no chance of escaping without paying a price.

He snapped his arm and hurled it at Mousie.

Mousie was clearly caught off guard by Aldany’s actions. It had only intended to use the shadow to control him.

Aldany’s arm fell into the shadow.

Mousie’s shadow control technique couldn’t be used repeatedly in such a short period, which allowed Aldany to escape to the exit.

The moment his hand touched the light of the exit, Aldany was teleported to the border of the Serpent Empire.

From here, he needed to walk less than a kilometer before he could enter the Stellar Empire.

Tears and laughter filled Aldany as he stood there, alive against all odds.

He cried because not only had he failed to take control of the Serpent Empire, but he had also lost all his power and influence within it. Worse still, he had lost an arm during his escape.

With only one arm left, he was far from strong.

He laughed, though, because he had survived.

It was no small feat to survive under Charles’ attack.

After crying and laughing for a while, Aldany finally composed himself.

“I must act quickly! Charles won’t give me much time! He could be here any moment!”

The pressure Charles exerted on Aldany was overwhelming.

This pressure left Aldany no choice but to not waste even a single moment.

He immediately decided to flee toward the Stellar Empire as quickly as possible.

Half an hour later, he encountered a patrol team of Stellar Empire soldiers.

The soldiers, ever vigilant, surrounded Aldany, weapons drawn.

“I come to surrender to you! I have crucial intelligence to share with you!” Aldany weakly called out to the captain of the patrol.

The captain of the patrol nodded.

He had encountered several Serpents who had defected to the Stellar Empire in the past.

Every defector claimed to have vital intelligence, but in the end, their information was rarely of any real use.

So the captain didn’t take Aldany’s words too seriously.

He simply led Aldany, as usual, to the nearest Stellar Empire fortress.

At the fortress, Aldany encountered someone who recognized him: the envoy of the governor of the Atacama Desert in the Stellar Empire.

When the envoy saw Aldany, his face showed immense shock.

“You’re High Priest Aldany? What are you doing here, and why do you look so miserable?”

The envoy had previously visited Serpent’s Eye Lake Oasis in the Serpent Empire.

His mission had been to negotiate between the Serpent Empire and the Stellar Empire, and Aldany had been his counterpart during those talks.

Aldany took a deep breath.

“I am indeed High Priest Aldany! I am here because the Serpent Empire has fallen into severe internal chaos! I am being hunted by traitors within the Serpent Empire, which is why I look so disheveled.”

As soon as Aldany finished speaking, the envoy’s face lit up with excitement.

Aldany’s appearance here meant that there were significant problems within the Serpent Empire.

This, of course, presented a prime opportunity for the Stellar Empire to launch a full-scale assault.

The envoy thought for a moment, then smiled and said,

“You need not worry. Now that you have defected to the Stellar Empire, we will ensure your safety. I will quickly take you before His Highness, the Crown Prince. You can share all the intelligence you have with Him. His Highness will reward you handsomely!”

After reassuring Aldany, the envoy swiftly gathered a team of soldiers.

“Immediately escort me and High Priest Aldany to Gold Fortress!”

Gold Fortress was the largest fortress of the Stellar Empire in the Atacama Desert, and it was also the fortress where the Crown Prince of the Stellar Empire was stationed.

The soldiers immediately sprang into action.

Thus, Aldany was quickly escorted by the envoy to Gold Fortress.

Meanwhile, at Serpent’s Eye Lake Oasis, Charles was extremely frustrated.

He had never expected that Aldany would escape in such a manner.

Mousie, not far off, looked at him with innocent eyes.

“Don’t look at me with those innocent eyes! I’m not going to blame you! After all, I never thought Aldany would break his own arm to gain a chance to escape. It seems I underestimated him,” Charles said, his voice tinged with annoyance.

This finally made Mousie return to its usual form.

“Aldany has probably fled to the Stellar Empire, because only they can guarantee his safety. The Stellar Empire will likely launch a full-scale attack on the Serpent Empire very soon,” Charles muttered to himself.

He felt that he should share these thoughts with the others in the Serpent Empire.

Once he was sure he hadn’t missed any crucial clues, he headed back to Serpent’s Eye Lake Oasis with his mystical beast.

In the grand pyramid, he shared his thoughts with the high priests.

The high priests were all extremely alarmed.

They knew very well how familiar Aldany was with the Serpent Empire, and his defection to the Stellar Empire was a near-fatal blow to them.

High Priest Kent’s face was grim.

After Aldany’s betrayal, he was the only one left as the regent high priest.

He felt they should take immediate action.

“What do you think we should do?”

He asked Charles in a very humble tone.

After all the events that had transpired, High Priest Kent had completely placed his trust in Charles.

Moreover, he believed that only Charles could resolve the enormous crisis facing the Serpent Empire.

Charles sighed.

But in reality, he didn’t have any good solutions.

Aldany’s successful escape would give the Stellar Empire a significant advantage.

The Stellar Empire’s army was almost unbeatable in direct combat, unless he intervened personally.

After thinking for a moment, he looked at Zara beside him.

Zara was staring at him intently, her eyes filled with admiration and trust.

“Actually, I don’t have a good plan either. The Stellar Empire’s full-scale offensive should be arriving soon. Aldany knows everything about the Serpent Empire, which means this attack will likely target your greatest weakness directly,” he said.

His words made the atmosphere even heavier.

All the Serpents fell into a state of despair.

At that moment, Charles changed his tone and said,

“However, this doesn’t mean you will necessarily lose. Because I will give my all in the upcoming battle. With my mystical beast and me, Withered Tree Fortress should not be easily breached.”

When Charles said this, he still left some room for uncertainty.

He didn’t claim that Withered Tree Fortress would absolutely not be breached.

Upon hearing this, the Serpents’ expressions lightened somewhat.

They all believed that Charles could turn the tide of the battle.

“That’s good!” High Priest Kent immediately said.

“I will appoint you as the supreme commander of the Serpent Empire. All members of the Serpent Empire will follow your orders carefully.”

Kent’s decision still surprised Charles.

He hadn’t expected that they would let him, a human, command the Serpent Empire’s army.

“Is this really alright? Will General Sost agree to this?”

Charles asked with a hint of hesitation.

He was actually not too eager to command the Serpent Empire’s army because he felt that doing so would cause certain distractions.

He still preferred to focus all his attention on personal combat.

“I will communicate with General Sost. As the regent high priest, my orders are ones he cannot refuse,” Kent quickly responded.

After saying this, Kent seemed to have guessed Charles’ concerns.

So he continued in a more soothing tone,

“I understand what you’re worried about. You’re concerned that commanding the army will split your focus. You don’t need to worry about that. I will make sure General Sost cooperates with you. You will only need to make strategic decisions, and the tactical command will be handled by him.”

Since High Priest Kent had made such a promise, Charles naturally wouldn’t refuse any longer.

He nodded and said,

“Alright then! I agree to command the Serpent Empire’s entire army!”
