Chapter 3042: Prophecy

"Alright, let’s settle this matter for now."

The Elven King waved his hand and said, "It is said that listening to all sides brings clarity, while believing only one brings darkness. The content translated by the Flying Squirrel Clan may be laughable, but we must remain vigilant and prepare for the worst."

"Your Majesty is wise."

The Elven King was about to arrange the next round of actions when suddenly, two Elven guards rushed into the hall.

"Report! Elven King, there’s an emergency!"

"What is it?"

The guard looked somewhat nervous and said, "During a patrol, the defense team in Forest Area No. 37 discovered unknown mutant worm creatures. It’s suspected that the Seed of Ouroboros Disaster may have appeared. The regional inspection team has already rushed to the scene to investigate and provide support."

Upon hearing this, the entire Elven Council hall went silent for half a second, followed by a noisy uproar.

Even the Elven King’s expression changed slightly.

Mutant worms?

Disaster?

Seriously?

What a coincidence?

Just after the stone slab translation was revealed, the Disaster appeared in the Elven world?

The Elven leaders present were all shocked and uncertain.

"Silence."

The Elven King calmed down and raised his scepter high, signaling everyone to quiet down. "Everyone, please remain calm. The situation has not been fully confirmed—it may not necessarily be a disaster. Even if it is, the Elven race is not without resistance. Worst case, we must still distinguish whether it’s a natural disaster or one caused by outside forces."

"Lucien."

"Yes, Father!"

The Elven King looked at his second son and said, "Take your men and head to the scene. Be sure to determine the cause of the mutant worms and confirm whether they are related to the disaster."

"Understood!"

The Elven King then turned to Doris and said, "Elder Doris, do not inform the Flying Squirrel Clan about the disaster just yet. I need them to finish translating all the information on the stone wall as soon as possible."

"Yes, great Elven King."

...

Two hours later.

By the time Lucien gathered a small Elven team and arrived at the area where the mutant worms were found to meet the defense team, a thick layer of creep had already spread across the forest floor.

The situation was bad!

Lucien’s expression changed slightly.

He had previously left the Elven world to participate in outside training and had seen a disaster insect nest on the battlefield.

That stuff was exactly like the creep of mutant worms!

It really was a disaster.

This was trouble!

Two hours ago, he had still been mocking the Flying Squirrel Clan’s stone slab translation as unreliable. Now, stepping onto the battlefield, he realized the disaster had come, and he was the real clown.

"Your Highness!"

The Elven teams guarding the perimeter of the creep came forward to greet Lucien.

"What’s the situation?"

"Three hours ago, a patrol team was attacked by mutant worm creatures. We followed the traces of the worms and discovered this creep here. It began spreading quickly after that."

Lucien pressed further, "What about the source? Where did the creep originate?"

"The back area is already covered by the creep. We’re not sure..." The Elven guard paused, then explained, "Once we go deep into the creep, we’re attacked by swarms of mutant creatures. We can’t investigate too deeply."

Unbelievable!

Could the prophecy actually be correct?

Lucien felt a cold sweat run down his back.

According to the prophecy, Disaster should have appeared one or two months ago.

There was nothing wrong with Disaster. It was just that the elves hadn’t discovered it yet?

"When did you first encounter these mutant worm creatures? Have they been here for a long time already?"

"Uh," the Elven guards, unaware of the prophecy, all shook their heads. "The worms came from deeper in the forest. That area is rarely visited by elves and hasn’t been within our patrol range, so no anomalies were previously detected."

This was bad.

Lucien’s heart gradually sank to the bottom.

The disaster was terrifying, yes—but what he feared more was the language on the stone wall.

Now that the disaster prophecy had been verified, what came next?

Would the prophecy of the Tree of Life’s total demise also come true?

Was the elves’ calamity truly arriving?

"Have we sent people to confirm the disaster’s range?"

"Already dispatched. Scouts are surveying the affected region and gathering intel," the guard leader nodded. "For now, we’ve determined that the creep first began spreading in the northern region and is rapidly expanding outward from the forest’s north side."

"Get ready. I need to personally enter the creep zone and investigate further."

"Your Highness, you..."

Lucien said sternly, "I didn’t come here to watch. I need to assess the mutant worm creatures’ level. Prepare the team immediately!"

"Yes!"

Soon, the Elven elite team finished gathering, and Lucien led them into the forest region to explore.

The elves possessed nature-based purification skills, but their effect was rather mediocre, far less effective than those of the Holy Court.

Behind them, Elven priests cast waves of nature purification across the ground, clearing a large patch of creep.

But soon after, the creep spread up from the ground again, rapidly covering the elves’ feet.

Standing on the swamp-like creep, the naturally clean-loving elves felt a deep aversion.

An Elven patriarch raised his head and looked at the tumor-like lumps protruding from the creep-covered ground and said gravely, "It’s the insect nests of Ouroboros. If we don’t destroy those nests, the creep likely can’t be cleared effectively."

Lucien also furrowed his brow.

So many?

The ground was covered with dense nests, like tumors. At a glance, there were at least several hundred.

"Your Highness, the Ouroboros nests are low-level, but destroying them might provoke hostility from the mutant worm creatures."

Lucien nodded slightly.

At least for now, they hadn’t encountered a swarm attack.

Since they were already here, they had to test the mutant worms’ strength.𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Lucien narrowed his eyes and said in a deep voice, "Listen to my command! Target the nests—fire!"

The Elven soldiers in the rear followed the order and all gathered natural arrows.

"Whoosh! Whoosh whoosh!!"

A dense volley of Arrows of Nature shot toward the bulging insect nests on the ground, exploding on impact.

"Boom! Boom boom boom boom!!!"

Huh? What was going on?

Lucien’s eyes widened, staring in disbelief at the scene before him.

How could this be?

Despite the continuous explosions from the Arrows of Nature, the insect nests weren’t destroyed. They remained rooted to the ground, rhythmically expanding and contracting as if breathing.

Such strong defensive capabilities! Even combined attacks from three Elven squads couldn’t destroy them?

And one of those squads was the Elven Prince’s elite escort team.
