Chapter 3180: Lower Layer

An hour later, every martial artist participating in the trial had passed out, without exception, and was carried away by the nearby research personnel.

Fang Heng remained attached to the bodies of the trial subjects.

All the unconscious subjects were lifted by staff members and, through the small rooms behind the laboratory, placed into the petri dishes within.

The research personnel began infusing nutrient solution and administering special potions into the petri dishes according to the values displayed on the instruments.

It seemed that staying here any longer would reveal nothing new; he needed to find a way out to observe.

Fang Heng maintained his soul body form, watching.

However...

As he observed the surroundings, Fang Heng quickly focused his gaze on the two high-tier martial artists stationed at the laboratory entrance.

Very strong!

Both of them were capable of reaching top-tier martial artist levels.

They had likely also participated in the Helium experiments.

If he tried to leave in his soul body form past them directly, he would certainly be discovered.

An opportunity presented itself.

The room door opened, and a research personnel entered, walking toward the petri dish where Fang Heng was attached.

Here it came.

Fang Heng swiftly left his current host and attached to the researcher.

The researcher suddenly felt a chill at his back, as if carrying something unknown. Instinctively, he reached behind to check.

Nothing.

Frowning, the researcher dismissed it as an illusion and continued forward to report to the research team leader.

"How’s the situation?"

The researcher handed over the data analysis report: "All readings are stable. This batch of subjects has been specifically selected and performs much better than previous trials. No backlash has occurred so far."

"Hm. The longer Tier 1 status can be maintained, the better the subsequent transformation effects," the team leader pondered, marking several data points on the list. "Submit the report to the director and request a higher dose of B-29, prepare for delayed injection."

"Understood."

The researcher acknowledged, hurriedly carrying the report and paper request toward the exit.

The two high-tier martial artists stationed there gathered their attention on the researcher, eyes filled with scrutiny.

They sensed something unusual about the researcher’s aura.

However, having never encountered a soul body, they could not detect Fang Heng while he owned the researcher.

"What are you doing?"

Blocked by the two martial artists, the researcher frowned, "Step aside."

The two martial artists were momentarily speechless.

They only felt that something was off with the researcher, but could not identify what.

"I called you here to assist in protecting the experiments, not to cause trouble. This file is very important! If you delay the experiment, do you take responsibility?"

Seeing the martial artists hesitate, the researcher grew angry, shouting and pushing past them.

The two martial artists exchanged glances.

Was it an illusion?

Or had they sensed a strange ripple earlier?

Unaware he had been possessed by Fang Heng’s soul, the researcher continued to report to the research institute director and then proceeded to the lower-level secure warehouse to collect the potion.

"This area has already reached deep into the research institute," Fang Heng thought.

What was this force?

Since reaching the third underground floor, he had felt a powerful coercion directly affecting his soul body, impacting him greatly.

As the researcher continued deeper underground, the feeling of coercion grew stronger.

By the time the elevator reached the tenth basement floor, the sensation was even more intense. Fang Heng had to release his own strength to resist it, but doing so made his aura impossible to fully conceal, increasing the risk of exposure.

The researcher felt nothing unusual, moving forward as usual along the passage.

Fang Heng frowned.

Not good.

At the end of the passage, two high-tier martial artists stood, sensing something off about the researcher from afar. They tightened their focus and closely monitored him.

No. The aura fluctuations could no longer be hidden. Continuing further would certainly lead to discovery.

This was an infiltration mission; exposing himself was dangerous. If he accidentally ruined the Evil Clan and the spawns’ transaction or the acquisition of God’s Blood, it would be a massive loss.

After some thought, Fang Heng temporarily detached from the researcher, maintaining his soul body form and levitating in the center of the passage.

The two martial artists focused intently on his position, feeling something odd.

They could see nothing, yet a perception told them something was there.

They remained on high alert, prepared for battle, watching the researcher step forward.

Fang Heng stood silently, thinking.

This powerful coercion originated from the lower levels, meaning strong spawns were guarding the area below.

Repeated attempts revealed that under this coercion, penetrating walls in soul body form became extremely difficult.

No!

He had come this far; he had to see for himself.

He decided to descend, no matter what.

Judging from the elevator journey to the tenth floor, he estimated that the lower underground structure would be similar, with another passage below.

No matter. He would try.

The two martial artists at the corridor’s end sensed a faint leakage of strength.

Their eyes locked on Fang Heng’s soul body.

Though invisible, they could sense something there, and the feeling grew stronger.𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

The researcher remained unaware, only feeling targeted.

Along the way, the martial artist guards had all looked unpleasant, their gazes scrutinizing him as if he were a criminal, making him uncomfortable.

As he stepped forward, a martial artist suddenly bellowed from the corridor, "Who’s there?"

Huh?

The researcher was startled, stopping abruptly and spinning around to look.

Who?

No one.

The corridor was empty.

Crazy.

The researcher glared at the martial artist and asked, "Shouting for what? Who’s there?"

The two martial artists frowned, ignoring him, still watching the passage behind the researcher.

They were certain something was there and had emitted a slight ripple. But in that instant, before they could investigate further, the force had completely vanished.
