Chapter 1526: Part 1: Scary Theo Bernard

Underground shelter,

Looking at the corpse, I used the system to know the level of the Wizard before his death. The system results say that he was a level-9 Wizard.

Hearing that, I don’t know how to react. Clearly, the strongest ones are the level-10 Supreme Wizards in the forbidden area.

I have not seen a Forbidden-level Wizard before. But I think existence at the level of the Forbidden Wizards lives in the core of the forbidden area.

After taking one last look at the corpse, I turned around to go and inspect other rooms. Not long after, I saw skeleton parts in one room and torn clothes in another room.

But none of the rooms had any valuables. As I started to go through other rooms, I reached the end of the corridor.

There is a huge door in front of me. It must be another room. So I opened the door and went inside. The next second, a terrible smell assaulted my nostrils.

Not only that, I found corrupted mana inside the room. The room had a wooden table and chairs. There was also a mat. Clearly, someone lives here.

“Who opened the door?”

I heard a voice coming from outside. Hearing that, I was stunned. Then I appeared inside the Gregor Mansion the next moment.

I quickly went to the control room and appeared in front of the control mirror. Then I saw the same old man whom I saw yesterday walk into the room.

He looked perplexed after seeing the room being opened. He scanned the place with his bright eyes. He saw mana lines from that corrupted mana filling the room.

There was no disturbance in these mana lines. It showed that no one was here. But how was the room door opened? He didn’t open it.

“Is that guy back?” the old man asked himself.

He started sweating. Then he quickly came out of the room and locked the door.

Inside the Gregor Mansion, I was surprised. Because I don’t know why the old man was scared.

As per the palace staff’s information, the wanted criminal Theo Bernard is a Supreme Wizard.

The old man himself was a former wizard. Then why is he scared? My mind is filled with doubts. But one thing was clear. This room belongs to Theo Bernard.

No wonder the room has corrupted mana. Before coming to the forbidden area, the palace staff had warned me that Theo Bernard has troublesome magic. It’s hard to deal with.

That’s why none of the wizards were able to capture him. If it’s corrupted mana, then I can understand why. Then I decided to stay here. I think he will come to the room sooner or later.

The old man went outside to do something. He feared that Theo Bernard might return at any time. So he wanted to disappear from sight.

Not long after, a person wearing black clothes was approaching the underground shelter. He had a well-built body, but his real age was different. He was very old.

The small white hair on his head was the best proof. He was none other than Theo Bernard, wanted by many wizard organizations.

After coming to the underground shelter, he opened the cover to go inside. When he appeared in the corridor, he knew that the old man was not here.

“The cripple’s job is to guard this place. Yet he is not here,” Theo said to himself.

Fortunately, no wizard organization was after him right now. So he was quite carefree and lenient towards others.

If it were tough times, he would have killed other wizards for making such mistakes. Then he went to the end of the corridor.

He walked up to the door. Seeing that the door was closed, it didn’t raise any doubts. He opened the door and walked inside.

After entering, he swept his eyes across everything. The place was untouched. Everything was in its place. Not an object was moved.

His eyebrows eased down a little. He then sat on the chair before taking a small container. He opened the cover of the container.

Then he took a black jelly-like thing before starting to eat it. From the black jelly-like thing, corrupted mana was coming out.

It started to fill the room.

Inside the Gregor Mansion, I was watching this scene. It gave me goosebumps all over my body. Who is this person? Don’t tell me he is the one I’m looking for.

But he looks different from the pictures. Then I waited to get a better view of his face. I saw him eating something nasty.

Suddenly, the person raised his head and looked at the ceiling.

“He is the one,” I uttered in surprise.

A wave of relief washed over me. I knew upcoming events were going to be dangerous. I have to kill him, but I don’t know whether my spell would work against him.

The crippled old man faced my magic spell attack with his Supreme Wizard body earlier. Yet nothing happened to him. He walked away like nothing.

I wonder whether the same thing would happen with Theo Bernard. But to complete my task, I have to decapitate him. His head is evidence for the task.

As time passed, Theo Bernard fell asleep after completing his meal. But the room was filled with corrupted mana.

If anyone walked into the room, they would be poisoned by the corrupted mana. But Theo Bernard was sleeping inside without any care.

It meant that corrupted mana was not affecting him. He was immune to the corrupted mana.

[Ding! Warning!]

The system voice sounded in my mind. Hearing that, my eyes flickered. As I guessed, there is something wrong with the room.

No wonder the palace staff said that Theo Bernard was abnormal. It’s not easy to face his magic. It turns out that he was unaffected by the corrupted mana.

My gaze then fell on the sticky liquids on the floor. I don’t know what this is? And where did he get it from? I feel it’s not a good thing.
