Chapter 1749 1749: Remi took control of the city
From MC Perspective
Dust City
Forbidden Wizard Remi lost his patience. He was already pissed off by the disappearance of the Silver Tower’s Manager. However, he didn’t expect the old city lord to berate him.
“I’m not going to let you live without giving me compensation,” the old city lord said in a threatening tone.
Forbidden Wizard Remi instantly appeared in front of him and grabbed the old man’s neck. It happened within a second.
Snap!
The old man was flustered before he could say anything or plead. Remi twisted the neck of the old Lord of the Magic City. He then didn’t waste the corpse and collected it into his storage ring.
Phew!
Remi took a deep breath before releasing it. He had long wanted to kill the annoying bug. Remi then thought of Manager Lara.
His eyes flashed with a chill.
“Who rescued you?”
“Is it that kid? No, it’s impossible,” Remi asked himself.
He was racking his brain to find a suitable answer. He knew that kid was an official member, but his strength was only Level-9.
With that mere strength, it was impossible for that kid to rescue her.
Then he thought of the intruder. His eyes gleamed with a twinkle. He didn’t know whether it was an intruder or someone from the Magic Tower.
He thought the Silver Tower Manager’s disappearance must have caused some noise; otherwise, it would be impossible for someone to rescue her under his nose.
“A magic artifact might have played a role,” Remi thought to himself.
He had underestimated the Silver Tower. But his target had never been the Silver Tower or the Manager. He wanted to lure out Vincent Carey. As long as Vincent Carey came here, he would kill him. Remi’s brow eased after thinking about it.
He then raised his head and looked around the place. He had killed the old city lord hastily. If news were to leak about the death, chaos would occur. Internal fighting could break out.
He doubted the kid would appear in such a situation, so he thought of a plan. He was going to play the role of the city lord.
In that way, he could control the city and find and kill that kid. Then, he would return.
Swoosh!
The next second, he went to the city lord’s mansion. He was going to pretend to be the old man. He didn’t have to show his face; his Magic Lord mana power was enough.
The plan was hatched. Upon arriving at the old city lord’s room, he didn’t show his face, but he ordered the people in the room to intensify the search.
He also ordered them to identify every Level-9 Wizard entering the city.
The people in the mansion followed the order and left. They didn’t know their city lord was dead and someone else was acting in his place, but everyone felt the pressure of the Magic Lord level, so they complied.
Even if they had known, they wouldn’t have been able to do anything about it.
Time passed.
The Dark Faction, the Neutral Faction, and the White Faction people were terrified. They didn’t know what was going on at the city lord’s mansion.
The terrifying pressure from earlier had killed people outside the mansion. They could only imagine what the scene was like inside.
But none of the forces had the courage to send someone to that place to find information. Even the top forces were doing nothing.
The locals were even more terrified; they hid in their homes and didn’t come out. The city officials and the guards were in fear. They, too, had heard the loud, earth-shattering sound earlier.
Shortly afterwards, the officials from the city lord’s mansion came out. They were somehow able to survive the outburst from earlier. They quickly relayed new orders to other officials and the city guard captain.
From now on, they had to check each and every Level-9 Wizard who wanted to enter Dust City. At the same time, they were to continue their previous task of finding the intruder, whom they hadn’t been able to catch yet.
After learning from the officials that the city lord was fine, they sighed in relief and started their work.
There were spies as well, and they shared the information with the Dark, Neutral, and White Factions. After learning that the City Lord might have momentarily lost his patience, they were relieved as well.
They didn’t know who had angered the old city lord. In order not to provoke him, the Dark Faction decided to stop their illegal activities for the time being.
Even the White Faction stopped their schemes. They didn’t want to receive the wrath of the old city lord, so they stayed low-key as well.
On the other hand, the Neutral Factions were mostly traders. They were not part of the power struggle, so their activities didn’t attract trouble.
But they still ordered their staff not to offend anyone. They didn’t know what was going on with the old city lord, so the Neutral Faction decided to do their work silently.
Meanwhile,
Forbidden Wizard Remi was not quiet. He used his mental power to cover the whole city, but he was doing it much better than the old city lord had.
It was so hidden that no one would be able to sense it. Remi saw that his idea was working out well.
The city guards were doing their work, checking people coming and going. He also saw that the activities of the Dark Wizards had reduced; their spies were not moving through the city.
The streets around White Faction were also quiet, not as busy as yesterday. Then he looked over the business stores. The shops were closed, but he thought they would open the next morning.
Remi then withdrew his gaze and sighed in relief. He thought he should have killed the old city lord earlier; now the city was under his direct control.
If that kid decided to come, he would be walking into a den. He didn’t care about the escaped prisoner.
He wanted to eliminate the kid before returning to the organization. Otherwise, he would disappoint the elders in the Black Tower.
