Chapter 2293: Confusion.

Black Axe gave the instruction, and the spiritual energy he expended to create the shields ignited and caused a large explosion. The large explosion struck the bloody limbs head-on and caused them to disperse.

The bloody limbs were made of blood, not metal. So they were especially susceptible to the explosion.

The explosion caused them to lose 70% of their mass and become dispersed. So the thief had to expend more life energy to create new bloody limbs.

Meanwhile, Black Axe himself was closing in on the thief. However, he met with failure here because the thief was moving away from him.

Despite doing his best, the distance between him and the thief didn’t decrease. This gave the thief the opportunity to create more bloody limbs. He could only sigh when he saw the appearance of four bloody tentacles and created four more shields to defend himself with.

But this time, things were a little different because the thief also activated the Confusion divine ability to attack Black Axe. He was using this rank 2 divine ability of the pathway of rule breakers through his own rank 4 Stealing Abilities.

So he had stolen the Confusion divine ability from the rule-breaker slave. This turned out to be a good idea because it worked well against the warrior.

The Confusion divine ability didn’t work immediately because Black Axe was wearing a divine artifact with the Aegis Shield divine ability on it and activated the divine artifact before he was struck with the Confusion divine ability.

A purple shield had appeared between his body and everything trying to harm Black Axe. The best that the Confusion divine ability could do was drain his spiritual energy through the shield. But this was good enough, as it compounded the unfortunate situation that Black Axe was in.

The bloody tentacles couldn’t harm Black Axe because of the explosion of the phantom shields. But the phantom shields cost a lot of spiritual energy to use.

Each phantom shield cost him 10 units of spiritual energy to use. This was about the same amount of life energy that it cost the thief to create his bloody limbs.

Actually, the thief could expend more life energy and create bigger, stronger bloody limbs, but he only used the barest minimum to fight Black Axe.

Each time they clashed, they lost the energy that they had invested into the attack and defense. So normally, the two of them should run out of energy at the same time. But the Confusion divine ability tipped the scale in favor of the thief.

The best part was that the Confusion divine ability required spiritual energy from the thief, not life energy. So the thief was using two different pools of energy to fight the warrior at the same time.

The warrior sensed that the riders had turned against him and he could never win the fight. So he decided to escape.

He turned to run. But a traveler appeared and blocked his way. The traveler didn’t move, but his appearance was enough to make Black Axe feel despair.

Things became worse when the traveler used the new Whip divine ability. This divine ability created a phantom whip that struck Black Axe head-on.

The phantom whip was so fast that Black Aze couldn’t dodge it despite sensing its danger. However, the expected pushback from the collision with the phantom whip didn’t occur.

The phantom whip just passed through him as if it were intangible. The only indication that it was real was that it caused a massive spike in the expenditure of the Aegis Shield.

Black Axe realized then that the phantom whip was real and very dangerous. This cemented his idea to run away.

But no matter how determined he was to run away, he couldn’t escape from a traveler. Especially when the thief was still after his life.

He had no choice but to stand and fight. He didn’t like this at all. He especially didn’t like it when another phantom whip appeared.

The phantom whip appeared in the air above Black Axe. Then it fell on him with blinding speed. His shield managed to block its effect, but it caused him to expend more spiritual energy.

Black Axe decided to run towards the thief and use him as the breaking point. That was what his martial instinct told him was the only way he had to escape his current dilemma.

Unfortunately, the thief was not easy to bring down. The thief was content with wearing him down, so he kept his distance from Black Axe.

The phantom whip, bloody limbs, and confusion worked together to make Black Axe run out of spiritual energy in a short amount of time. Without spiritual energy, he became helpless against their divine abilities.

The purple shield that had appeared between his body dimmed and disappeared. This allowed the Confusion divine ability to make contact with his mind and take effect.

Once the Confusion divine ability took effect, Black Axe Martial Instinct went dead. Then instead of running forward to close the gap between him and the thief, he walked sideways.

Black Axe himself didn’t know that he was walking sideways. He only knew that instead of sensing danger and knowing what he should do with his instincts, he was only hearing a droning sound in his ears.

The drone sound was so loud that it caused his head to buzz and ache. His vision also doubled and became blurry. He began seeing blurry doubles of everything. He could make heads or tails of what he was seeing.

The Confusion divine ability turned him from being a skilled warrior into a blundering and clumsy fool. He couldn’t put up any resistance as the bloody limbs struck him.

Black Axe didn’t even know that he was about to die. He knew that he was in danger and wanted to run away. But because of the Confusion divine ability, the best he could do was hop around like a rabbit.
