GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2328: Pool Of Water.

Chapter 2328: Pool Of Water.

After setting up the bait, they went over to activate the spirit gate. All they needed to do was pour some energy water into the power source of the pillar and close some switches at its base.

The stone pillar began to hum after it was activated. It was humming because it was vibrating. But what was odd was that the sound of its hymn was becoming visible.

As the pillar vibrated, it produced visible sound waves that could be seen as well as heard. But as they waited, they realized that it wasn’t that the sound was visible but that the space around the pillar was disturbed.

The pillar was disturbing the space around it as it vibrated. This caused space to ripple like waves.

Eventually, the space around the pillar rippled until it became as clear as the surface of a pond. The area around the pillar had become so clear that they could see another world beyond it.

The sight impressed Legion a little bit. Legion-6 said, “Not bad.”

The portal was truly unlike the ones they had seen before. For one, it wasn’t confined into a rigid shape by the gate itself.

The edge of the portal was not uniform. This edge was still moving and rippling just like the surface of a body of water would.

In general, the portal was circular. It was also about 10 meters across, so it was larger than normal gates. But apart from its edges being irregular, the portal was also currently in one-way mode.

By being one-way, it means matter can only cross the portal from one direction. This way being from the main physical dimension into the spiritual dimension.

So the portal can only allow someone or something to enter the spiritual dimension, not the other way. Legion did this intentionally; it was not by accident.

They blocked access from the spiritual dimension because they didn’t want something unknown entering the physical dimension from the spiritual dimension and interfering with their fishing.

When they are ready to pull what they’ve caught, they can allow transportation from the spiritual dimension. But until then, they would rather prevent unwanted intrusion.

With this done, they went over to the base of the fishing rod and began to lower the brazier into the surface of the pond.

They operated the levers and pulleys in tandem until the whole brazier and some length of the steel rope holding it were lowered into the spiritual dimension.

Legion-1 clapped his hands and said, “That does it. All we have to do next is wait for a catch.”

Legion-7 grumbled, “This is a letdown, having to wait for an indeterminate amount of time after spending so much money and doing so much.”

Legion-12 said, “It is the best option, so we have to be content with it.”

With that said, they assigned a slave to watch the portal while they returned to the basement of their large base to continue training.

They have recently gained a lot of motivation for training. This is because of something they read about the paradox of gaining power.

They knew before that the dangers of losing control remain throughout the path of ascension. It is a fact that everyone can lose control, from a rank 1 godclad to a god. But they just learned that the risk of losing control is higher the farther along the path of ascension someone is.

They didn’t know this before because not once did they come close to the legendary rank in their many future lives. But now that they are close to being legends themselves, they realize that there is such a thing as the paradox of power.

The paradox of power is the theory that the stronger a godclad becomes, the more unlikely they are going to be willing to use that power. This reduction in the unwillingness to use their power is because they don’t want to be overwhelmed by their power and lose control to it.

The paradox of power is used as an explanation for why gods rarely take action. They don’t agree with this theory completely, but they admit that there may be some truth to it.

What they are sure of, though, is that Legendary godclads have a higher chance of losing control than their epic and normal counterparts. This chance is further increased by the availability of the divine form to legends.

Legends can undergo a process of liberation whereby they release the full potential of their divine flesh and unleash a beast that was hidden within them. This beast is the mutated form, but it is called the divine form.

Both the mutated form and the Divine form are inhuman and grant great power. The main difference between mutated godclads and the divine form of legends is that legends can control their divine form.

But the difference between these two forms is a blurry line. A legend can easily lose control after liberation and can easily become mutants. This is why legends rarely use their divine form.

Legends won’t use their divine form until they are desperate. In the meantime, they busy themselves with training in order to master their divine abilities and be able to retain control for longer periods of time.

Legends prioritize training because it also adds direct power to them in their unliberated form. This power is different from the skillful usage of divine abilities as one masters them. It is an addition of raw power that they can use for anything.

So the training and mastery of divine abilities is more important to legends than their dangerous liberated state. However, things aren’t so easy for legends.

The legendary realm is tricky because at that stage, the fastest way to gain mastery is to use the liberation realm. If they don’t liberate, their mastery of divine abilities will become stuck.

Actually, the boundary of mastery is at 50%. It becomes extremely difficult to progress beyond that stage without experiencing the liberation state frequently.
