Chapter 2330: Offer Of Truce.
Once in a while, the beasts in the neighboring forest congregate and attack Reinfield City. They do so to eat the humans, eat the cattle, and gain access to the energy springs in Reinfield City.
Humans are not the only ones who need energy springs to survive, and undying godclads are not the only ones who need to drain or fuse with an energy spring in order to advance.
So not only are small and medium energy springs attractive to beasts who just want to live and survive, but the large energy spring at the center of the city is also attractive to the powerful beasts who want to consume it to advance.
Once in a while a powerful beast reaches rank 6 and becomes ambitious. The foolish ones attack Reinfield City and are quickly put down. But the smart ones wait until there are many other rank 6 beasts to attack with.
The rank 6 beasts also rile up the beasts under their control and in the forest to attack Reinfield City. This is usually what causes the beast tide.
There have been other reasons across history, such as a godclad of the pathway of the propagator of disorder needing to create a lot of disorder in order to advance.
Killers also need to create a massacre to become legends, but they don’t have the rolls needed to make so many beasts attack for them. Propagators of disorder, on the other hand, have the Frenzy divine ability.
This Frenzy divine ability can cause a herd of cattle to stampede through the city. It has happened before, and it can happen again.
In either case, be it natural or manipulated, once a beast tide occurs, the outer city will be the part of Reinfield to be hit first. Since it is the duty of gangs to protect their territory, whenever beast tides occur, the gangs are the ones who suffer the most.
This fact caused a lot of tension to rise when news of a beast tide brewing arrived. For now, what has been seen is that powerful beasts are calling every beast in the forest to them. This is usually the precursor to a beast tide.
Everyone in the outer city began to prepare for the beast tide. Some who couldn’t handle it chose to pay a lot of money to give up on their position as gang leaders and disband their gang.
To do this, they will have to give up half of the money that they have earned from their territories for the period of this game. Only then will they be allowed to give up control of their territory and their responsibility to protect it without being deemed a criminal and hunted for the dereliction of duty.
The people who did this were just two. After they gave up on their territories, another gang took up their position immediately.
Legion didn’t think that there would be people willing to take up a position that held a large amount of danger at this particular time. But apparently, half of what the previous controller of the territory had earned was a very convincing reason for them to take up the risk.
So it wasn’t surprising to other people that the two empty slots were filled quickly. What they were instead hoping for was for the Golden Hammer gang to give up on their territory.
They were hoping that the Golden Hammer gang would do this because they control a lot of districts and because all of their seven districts face the forest where the beast tide will come from.
One of the territories they control used to belong to an epic farmer who had four epic pets. The man was the leader of the Cold Blade gang.
The territory of the Cold Blade gang was covered every step of the way with defensive arrays and traps in order to protect his territory from beast attacks. The arrays also made his territory secure from sneak attacks.
All of the security was why Legion had to make their shapeshifterand illusionist sneak into the man’s base with a gateway so that they could bypass his arrays and attack him directly.
The farmer experienced frequent beast attacks because he was raising cattle and because his territory was directly opposite to the forest and very close to the forest. All that beast needed to do to attack his territory was move in a straight line.
The Golden Hammer gang has inherited that territory now. So they have to deal with what the epic farmer used to deal with.
What’s worse is that they have seven territories under their control. This means that in order to protect all seven territories, they will have to spread their manpower too thin or expend a lot of money to hire more manpower.
It just so turned out that everyone has been blocking the Golden Hammer gang from hiring more people, and even godclads are not showing up for recruitment anymore. So the Golden Hammer gang will have to be spread too thin.
Spreading their forces too thin means that the likelihood of them failing to defend their territory is very high. If they were smart, they would consider giving up on their territory or at least part of it so that they won’t be lacking in manpower anymore.
This was what many of the gang leaders were thinking and hoping to see. But it didn’t happen because the leader of the Light Temple announced a truce and a cooperation agreement with the Golden Hammer gang.
The truce was offered by the Golden Hammer gang. They offered not to attack the Light Temple as long as the Light Temple doesn’t attack or offend them.
In exchange, the Golden Hammer gang asked for a cooperation agreement in which the Light Temple gang will share their manpower and help them protect their seven territories during the period of the beast tide.
The leader of the Light Temple gang accepted the truce and the terms of the cooperation agreement. But when she announced it to the public, many people weren’t pleased to hear it.
