GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2361: Suppression Of Rank.

Chapter 2361: Suppression Of Rank.

With that final thought, he reverted his attention to what was going on at the energy spring.

From his vantage point, he could see the legendary noble. He had blue hair and blue feathers on the back of neck and on top of his head like the comb of a chicken.

The legendary noble was talking down to someone in the barrier. The avatar of the angel of killing could hear what they were saying from his position despite being so far away.

He could even sense more than the legendary noble could even though the legend was closer to the energy spring than him.

What he sensed made him say in amusement, “There is a killer in the energy spring. The killer is rank 6. He is just one step away from the legendary rank, so if there is a plausible motive for what he is doing, it is that he wants to advance to the legendary rank.”

“But that’s not the advancement requirement for the legendary rank of killing. The advancement requirement for the pathway of killing is to kill a lot of people, not sit inside an energy spring and absorb it. So he must be trying to advance in another pathway.”

“If my knowledge is correct, absorbing an energy spring is the advancement requirement for beasts and humans in the pathway of the undying. Since he is not a beast, he must be a human.”

“So he is a human with two pathways. He seems like a smart human too, mixing the pathways of killing and undying together. But how long will he last with that arrangement?”

The legendary noble didn’t know that there was someone in the energy spring, but he knew because the person in the energy spring is a killer. He wouldn’t have known if the person didn’t possess the divine flesh of the pathway of killing in their body.

What he can sense about the person is the divine flesh of killing that they possess. He can sense every divine flash of killing around him too. This is another benefit of reaching the peak of the pathway of killing.

Not only can he sense the divine flesh of killing, but he can also shut them down and prevent weaker killers from being able to resist him. This is a privilege that angels have over every godclad in their pathway from rank 1 to rank 6.

It is normal that higher-ranked godclads in one’s pathway will be able to suppress the weaker ones in a fight. After all, they have all the divine abilities that the weaker ones have, and they also have a stronger spiritual power and more spiritual energy to use it.

But this kind of suppression goes far beyond having the advantage of power. The suppression of an angel on epic godclads is so bad that their divine flesh will turn against them and refuse to activate.

Even legends are not exempt from this suppression. It is just that legends and demigods can resist. But they will have to liberate their divine forms in order to resist the suppression of an angel.

But this suppression is not as bad as the one that a god of the pathway will have on everyone in the pathway. A god is like a mountain pressing down on everyone in the pathway.

The will of the god influences everyone in their pathway. For example, when the god of killing ran mad and began massacring the whole world, every killer was compelled to kill with him.

That kind of power is both feared and coveted. He certainly covets it, and he is just one step away from gaining that kind of power. Unfortunately, that step is far away from him and obstructed by a large chasm called the god of justice.

On the one hand, he is glad that the god of justice has prevented a god of killing from appearing. It is only because of the hard work of the god of justice that he can reach this stage.

But now that he has reached this stage of power, he wants to take the next step and ascend. For that to be achieved, he has to go against the god of justice who has helped him so much.

This dilemma made him ask himself, “Should I try to use the pathway of undying too? It will surely increase my survivability against the Church of Justice and their God.”

But then he shook his head. “Too dangerous. I barely managed to reach this stage. I can’t afford to throw a wrench into the delicate balance that I have with my divine flesh.”

He has become an angel, but he is still at risk of losing control. Especially since not every one of his avatars is under his control.

In order to defeat his divine flesh and advance to rank 9, he came to a special arrangement with it. He and the divine flesh will compete for control of the main body using the avatar that they control.

Every avatar has all of the main body’s memories, so they all have the knowledge that he possesses. They also have the same divine ability and power.

The main difference between them is that some of his avatars are controlled by his original consciousness, while the others are controlled by the product of the fusion of his souls and the divine flesh.

If something were to happen to the main consciousness and he slips up, the other consciousness will use that opportunity to take complete control.

This loss of control on his part can have very little impact, as both consciousnesses believe that they are the true one, or it can have a big negative impact, as the loss of the three souls that he used as the foundation for the pathway of killing causes his existence to collapse.

This is the delicate balance in his existence that he can’t afford to disturb by adding more divine flesh to it.
