GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2495: Accidental Find.

Chapter 2495: Accidental Find.

They were searching for one particular angel of undying in particular that was supposed to be living in the area. They scoured the minds of many people looking for the target, but they didn’t find this person.

What they found was someone else who made a small mistake while they were in a hurry to run away from the god of dreams.

This mistake was something small. Someone who was in a hurry to cross the road forgot to look properly and was struck by a rushing carriage.

The horses pulling the carriage crashed into the man and were crippled. However, despite how ghastly the crash was, the person suffered no injuries.

For the people that witnessed this event, they simply thought that the person that was struck was an extraordinary being. Even Legion thought so too.

By the looks of things, the person was a godclad, and a powerful one at that. But this was enough to draw Legion’s attention, so they sent a virtual copy to check the person.

It took a while to find the person, as they had changed cities and assumed a new identity. But Legion still found them by following the memory trails of everyone who ever saw them.

The method to check was to enter the mind of the person and read their memories. But even though the target couldn’t sense the danger of the virtual copy and didn’t run away immediately, the virtual memory still couldn’t enter their mind.

The failure of the virtual copy was due to a shield protecting the target completely. This confirmed that the target was an undying godclad. But they still didn’t know what level of power the undying godclad was.

So Legion went there personally to check. They went with three of their clones to make sure that nothing would go wrong.

They went with Legion-7, Legion-8, and Legion-9, but the undying godclad didn’t sense any danger despite the number of people hunting it. He continued to pretend to be a cook in the kitchen of a wealthy noble.

This could be either because the undying godclad didn’t have the rank 6 Danger Sense divine ability or because Legion was using their Invisibility Shield divine ability or because of the other divine abilities they borrowed from their slaves to hide themselves or all of the above reasons.

After they reached the target, they surrounded them. Then they took turns using the Disable divine ability of the pathway of error on the person.

They first disabled the Aegis Shield divine ability. Once they did, they could finally sense the aura of the person completely.

What they sensed was the spiritual power of an angel. This meant that this person had reached rank 9 in a pathway. But it was still uncertain if they were angels of undying, as they might have more than one pathway.

In order to be certain of what they had on their hands, they used the Identify Information divine ability from the pathway of Seer on him.

The Identify Information showed that the person had two pathways. One was the pathway of undying, while the other was the pathway of killing.

They also saw that the pathway of killing stopped at rank 3, while the pathway of undying was the one that reached rank 9. So it was confirmed that the man was an angel of undying.

This surprised Legion because this undying angel wasn’t the one they were searching for.

So Legion-8 chuckled and said, “I guess the second mistake that this guy made was to pass through the area of another undying godclad.”

Legion-7 shook his head and defended the man, saying, “He is just unlucky. How was he to know that the area he was passing through used to belong to that of another angel of undying that we happened to be looking for at the same time?”

Legion-9 nodded and said in agreement, “He was just in a rush to escape, which made him stand out to us. It is truly bad luck for him.”

They were saying these things as they used the Imprison divine ability and the Disable divine ability one after the other.

They didn’t hurt the angel of undying and instead worked to disable all of his divine abilities. Their main goal was to disable the Revive and Restore divine ability, but they took out anything they encountered along the way to find it.

They were clearly trying to kill him, but the undying godclad did nothing to stop them or escape. He let them do whatever they wanted to do to him as if they were doing him a favor.

Legion liked that he was cooperating with them. So they didn’t let him suffer for too long. After they disabled his Revive and Restore divine ability, they killed him.

They also didn’t waste time in assimilating the divine flesh. In fact, they decided to do it right there and then.

They killed everyone around them and sealed the restaurant by setting up arrays. Then two of the clones stood guard while the last one got busy assimilating the rank 9 divine flesh of the pathway to undying.

They could have done this under the nose of the other staff in the kitchen without any concern. Just like the people in the kitchen did nothing and ignored them when they killed the cook, they would have also ignored them now.

But Legion wanted to eliminate every witness and source of interference around them. So Legion killed them all in order to advance in peace and quiet.

The process went smoothly. Once they became angels of undying, this meant that they had finally reached the peak of the sequence in all their four pathways.

Most importantly, this advancement also meant that they had met the requirements to begin to fuse with the authority of the pathway of undying.

They’ve had this authority ever since they arrived in this world. In fact, it is related to the reason why they came to this world from the future. But they have never been able to control it aside from borrowing its power.
