The teen Yu Dong glared at her mother before saying, “What? Are you going to say that I am being unreasonable like always, huh? What about this matter is unreasonable. If anything, it’s unfair! You didn’t tell me that you are bringing a mer for me to marry and now you expect me to get married to him and live a happy life? You have to be kidding me.”

As she spoke she looked down at Shen Li who lowered his head even further without raising it even once.

The more Yu Dong looked at him, the more she despised him. It was bad enough that the mer was being forced on her but what was worse was that this mer was nowhere what she liked and wanted.

He was tall and looked like a man when Yu Dong liked mers who seemed gentle and more feminine than her.

Her mother knew it but she still brought this mer here.

What did she mean by that Yu Dong would not amount to anything and should stop daydreaming? Whose fault was it that she was in this situation?

Yu Hai was fooled by the sweet words of her aunt and gave her the chance to study. Her aunt promised that she would treat her well but behind her mother’s back, she bullied her and even beat her up.

How could she treat her well?

Yu Dong hated it. She hated it very much, her aunt took the opportunity that belonged to her and yet she did not respect her. What was more, after letting her aunt take advantage of her, her mother wanted her to work in the fields with her grandmother.

Why should she work in fields while her aunt was respected and admired by everyone for becoming a scholar?

It should have been her! And to make matters worse, this mer was married to her. It was simply adding salt to her injury!

“I am never going to accept him! Never!” Yu Dong shouted as she picked up a small porcelain jar and threw it at Shen Li who raised his hand and covered his face. Seeing him cover his face, Yu Dong sneered, “Eh? What are you protecting that ugly face for? Even if you protect it, you will still be ugly as ever.”

“YU DONG!” Yu Hai shouted but Yu Dong didn’t listen to her, she snorted and ran out of the house.

Seeing the teen girl run away, Yu Dong blinked her eyes and chased after her.

The young Yu Dong ran and ran until she came to a stop at the foothill of the mountain. She plopped down on the grass and buried her face in her hands which rested on her knees.

A few minutes later, the sound of sobbing came from the little girl who was sitting on the ground.

Yu Dong looked at the teen girl and didn’t know what to say. All along, she thought that her predecessor was a rude and cruel woman but as she looked at the young Yu Dong, she couldn’t summon any of her anger or blame.

The young Yu Dong was cruel to her mers but still, Yu Dong could understand her frustrations and anger. She was young and had dreams and yet her mother had not listened to her. Forcing her to marry someone she didn’t even like.

No wonder the young Yu Dong did not like her husbands.

“Dong’er?” A callous voice called the young woman who raised her head and looked at the sleazy-looking woman.

“Sister Han? What are you doing here? Should you not be at the town?” The young Yu Dong asked as she looked at the woman with confusion in her eyes. As far as she knew Sister Han was working in the town and should be there.

Sister Han’s eyes flickered as she looked at the young Yu Dong. She smiled and patted her on the head before saying, “Dong Dong, are you upset? Come with me. Sister Han will take you somewhere fun.”

“Fun?”

Yu Dong, who was watching the happenings in front of her, wanted to stop the young Yu Dong. She knew who Sister Han was, she was the one who made the young Yu Dong addicted to Happy Powder until she died!

That woman even made Yu Dong sell all the land that she owned.

However, Yu Dong couldn’t do anything. She could only watch the young Yu Dong get beguiled by Sister Han until…

“M—My heart feels stuffy,” the young Yu Dong clasped her shirt with her hand. Lying on the cart, she was muttering in a daze. “It feels so bad.”

“This is why I asked you to not do it!” Aunt Wang scolded her. She looked at Yu Dong with an annoyed look on her face and stated in a cold voice, “This is why I said to you that you should stay in the house honestly and not run around. Why did you not listen to me? Now look at you!””

Aunt Wang was also worried. The doctor told her that she could do nothing with so much Happy powder down the young Yu Dong’s throat.

She could only hope that the young Yu Dong would somehow manage to survive this predicament. But her hopes were dashed to doom as the young Yu Dong choked on her own saliva and the foam that was coming out of her mouth and —

Yu Dong sighed when she saw the young woman die but then —

“I don’t want to die!”

“Why should I die?”

The corpse of the woman suddenly opened her eyes and looked right at Yu Dong.

“How dare you take what’s mine? Give it back to me! Give it back!” The corpse twisted and deformed before rising to its feet and lunging at Yu Dong.

“Are you okay?” Wu Junfen looked at Yu Dong who was breathing heavily next to her.

“I am fine,” Yu Dong raised her head and saw the ghoul searching for them and her heart suddenly soured. She didn’t know what to feel at the moment. A part of her was annoyed and angry at her predecessor.

What did she mean by hers? Everything that she owned was something she had worked hard for!

But somewhere she felt guilty as well.

After all, she had taken the life of this young woman who lost her everything.
