Chapter 1876 - 1876: Returning home
“How many times have I told you? My son is not going to marry that girl you chose,” Second Uncle Yu shouted at the top of his lungs as he pointed at his ex-wife. “We have already divorced and you agreed to let me take our sons with me. For one and a half years, you didn’t show up after taking away the money that you took for signing the divorce agreement but now you appear out of thin air and want my son to marry the girl of your choice? I am telling you its not happening!”
Madam Lin’s face turned blue when she saw her ex-husband bellowing at her. She wanted to slap the mer to death but as soon as she raised her hand, the guard standing next to Second Uncle Yu stepped forward, which slowed down her momentum.
“You—Second Yu, do you really have to be so cruel? I am doing this for the sake of our son,” Madam Lin said to her ex-husband. She looked pitiful and upset as if she was really aggrieved with how Second Uncle Yu was treating her like an enemy.
However, Second Uncle Yu was not fooled. He glared at her and sneered, “Old Lin, don’t think that I am a fool. One and a half years ago, you sold our sons to me for more than a hundred taels. You took the money and signed the severance documents. You want to tell me that a woman who sold her own son for money is now worried about her son’s marriage? Do you think that I was kicked by a donkey in the back of my head?”
Madam Lin pursed her lips. If she had known that her eldest son caught the eye of a rich woman’s daughter, then she would have never sold him off. But she had no idea what led to the current situation!
“Second Yu, I—”
“Get lost!” Chen Mi roared as he threw dirty water at Madam Lin and shouted at her, “We know that you are a weasel who is coming here to pay respects for a reason. Don’t try to treat us as fools!”
“You—”
Madam Lin wanted to scold Chen Mi but the doors of the Yu house were shut close and she was locked outside.
Her sister-in-law looked at Madam Lin and said, “Sister-in-law, do you think that your husband will ever agree? We have been coming here for more than a month now!”
And they had also taken the groom price. Madam Tian was now asking them about the wedding and they didn’t even have the groom ready!
Madam Lin wiped the dirty water off her face and snapped, “Since they don’t appreciate my kindness, then they cannot blame me for being harsh!”
Inside the Yu house, Chen Mi was panting angrily. He looked at Shen Li and said to him, “Just because we are alone, people like these are looking down on us. They come to bully us every day.”
Shen Li raised his head and looked at Chen Mi gently. After two years, he had gotten more mature and calm, especially with the guilt he was carrying in his heart.
The last conversation that he had with his wife, he had accused her of doing something she didn’t do and it had led him to become even calmer and kinder.
“You need to be careful, Mi. People like Madam Li are the most dangerous,” said Shen Li. “She has been insulted and embarrassed for a month and yet she is not willing to give up. Which shows that she is not someone who would give up easily.”
Chen Mi was no longer as naive as he was; with Yu Dong’s absence, he grew up and learnt to protect his family. He raised his hand and slapped the table next to him. He said to Shen Li, “I don’t want to do it either. But that woman is shameless; just one look and I can tell that she has something planned for little Little Cai.”
After Second Uncle Yu divorced his wife, he changed the names of his sons because he did not wish his sons to carry even a single thing from that disgusting family. Even their names had to be changed because Madam Lin actually named her son in such a manner because she wished to get a daughter.
She gave them feminine names in hope that a daughter would be born.
Because of this, Second Uncle Yu changed their names and replaced them with better names that suited his sons.
“We know this as well, Mi,” Ye Liu raised his head and looked at Chen Mi with a light sigh. “But what can we do? Are we going to accuse that woman without evidence? I have sent Mammy Chou and she will bring us enough evidence that we can use against her. So have patience.”
Chen Mi rolled his eyes. He was willing to be patient but would that woman be patient?
“Daddy!”
“Daddy!” Yu Chunxiang rushed inside the house and ran straight to Ye Liu.
“Chuchu! How many times have I told you not to run amok like this?” Ye Liu rebuked his daughter as he got to his feet and held her in his arms.
Though Yu Chunxiang was scolded she didn’t mind the scolding of her father; instead, she beamed at her daddy and said to him, “Daddy, Mother is coming back. She won the war!”
Even though Yu Chunxiang didn’t see or meet her mother as Yu Dong was gone before she was born, Ye Liu had told everything about Yu Dong to Yu Chunxiang and now his daughter knew that her mother was a war hero.
“What?”
“Where did you hear this?”
Yu Chunxiang was startled when she was surrounded by her daddies. She blinked her eyes and buried her face in Ye Liu’s neck before saying, “It was a big auntie who came on a horse and announced it.”
Shen Li and the others exchanged a look before they all rushed out of the house.
“Attention! Attention! Attention! The war has ended and Madam Yu has been awarded the title of City Lord. All hail the heroes of the war!”
