Chapter 2271: Chapter 2272: Wild Imaginings
“Dad, where are they? Take us to see them,” Xu Zhengchu said.
Although he didn’t think much of small-timers like Qu Xuanhe, he was very keen to make the acquaintance of someone like Lin Yi, since such a person could benefit his family’s business. The only issue was that he hadn’t yet figured out what was going on.
“Director Lin is a very mysterious person. Ordinary people have never seen him, so we also don’t know who he is. But Secretary Wu will be here soon, and we can ask him to make an introduction; it’ll be a good opportunity for you to meet this influential individual.”
“Okay.”
“That’s settled then. You guys stay put here while we go have a look around,” Xu Jiaoyang said,
“Don’t wander off, or we’ll have trouble finding you.”
...“Got it.”
Xu Jiaoyang and the others left. Xu Zhengchu and the rest stayed where they were, with their conversation naturally drifting to Lin Yi.
“What do you guys think? What kind of person is Director Lin of Lingyun Group? It’s unimaginable for someone so young to have founded such a huge company,” Xu Zhengchu said enviously.
“It’s hard to say,” the short-haired girl replied,
“Like you said, achieving so much at such a young age, he must be incredibly exceptional. After all, he’s got the capital to be.”
“Even if he’s outstanding, I’d still like to make his acquaintance. Associating with someone like that would probably elevate our social circle to a whole new level.”
“That makes sense,” the short-haired girl agreed.
“Hey, Little Yu, why are you zoning out?”
“No, I’m not…”
The short-haired girl gave Fang Yu an ambiguous look and nudged her, “What do you think about Director Lin?”
“I think he’s quite impressive,” Fang Yu said,
“For someone so young to achieve so much, he’s definitely not ordinary. I doubt there are many who could match up to him among his peers.”
“If you say that, you’re giving his peers too much credit,” the short-haired girl countered,
“He’s the founder of Lingyun Group. If the company goes public, its market value would be at least several trillion at the very least—a real financial unicorn. Not just our peers, but even our seniors can’t compare to him.”
“You’re right about that.”
“So, do you want to consider it?”
“I’m a bit nervous.”
“Nervous?” Xu Zhengchu interjected,
“What’s there to be nervous about? This is truly a premium stock, probably the only one in all of China.”
“But I’m afraid if he’s too unattractive, that would really diminish my interest.”
As she spoke, Fang Yu glanced over at Lin Yi in the distance.
“If only Director Lin could be as handsome as him.”
“It’s hard to say,” the short-haired girl said,
“I think you shouldn’t worry so much. You can’t have both, the fish and the bear’s paw. You can only choose one.”
“In my opinion, appearances aren’t important at all. The ability is the best way to ascend in social circles,” Xu Zhengchu pontificated,
“When you meet Director Lin later, make an effort; don’t bother with those who just snuck in. They’re not worth your time.”
Hearing Xu Zhengchu’s words, Fang Yu thought it made a lot of sense and nodded in agreement, not thinking too much of Lin Yi anymore.
While they were talking, voices came from the entrance of the banquet hall.
They turned to look and saw their seniors, including Wu Zhaoyou, walking in.
All of them were beaming and laughing as if they had encountered some happy event.
“Quick, quick, quick, Secretary Wu is here, let’s go over and say hello.”
At Xu Zhengchu’s call, everyone straightened their clothes and walked toward Wu Zhaoyou.
“Uncle Wu, happy new year!”
Xu Zhengchu and the others approached with smiles, warmly greeting Wu Zhaoyou.
Wu Zhaoyou smiled and nodded his head, looking at Xu Zhengchu and saying,
“I heard that you started a sharing project this year that’s doing quite well?”
“Thanks to Uncle Wu’s support, the development has been favorable. We’ve just secured two billion in funds, and if all goes well, we might go public by the end of the year.”
“If that’s the case, it sounds quite promising,” Wu Zhaoyou patted him on the shoulder, pleased,
“If you encounter any difficulties in business, remember to report to us in a timely manner. We’re going to make big strides in Yang City this year and strive to lead in growth rates. We need the effort from all of you.”
“Rest assured, Uncle Wu, we will do our best and fully support your work,” Xu Zhengchu cheerily replied,
“We’re all very curious if Director Lin from Lingyun Group has arrived. We’ve been looking forward to seeing what he is really like.”
“We just got in touch; he said he was on his way and should have arrived by now,” Wu Zhaoyou explained,
“I’ll introduce you to him later, but there’s something I need to make clear beforehand.”
“Please, Uncle Wu, go ahead.”
“I’ve gone to great lengths to bring him here today, and he won’t be appearing in public. Later, in a private setting, you can chat together, which might inspire your business dealings. But you must not disclose his identity. Director Lin is a very low-key person and dislikes the spotlight.”
Hearing this, everyone exchanged glances, not expecting Director Lin to be this understated.
“All right, we understand. We won’t talk carelessly.”
Wu Zhaoyou nodded, “You guys head upstairs first. I’ll find him and then take him up to meet you.”
“Sure thing.”
Everyone made their way upstairs. Wu Zhaoyou stood to one side, and at the same time, other businesspeople also came over to greet him.
Though their stature in the Yang City business world was not as high as Xu Jiaoyang and his peers, they were still an important part. Wu Zhaoyou responded generously to each.
After dealing with the people in front of him, Wu Zhaoyou took his phone and dialed Lin Yi’s number.
“Director Lin, where are you? I’ve arrived at the venue.”
“Okay, okay, okay, I’ll come find you.”
Knowing Lin Yi’s location, Wu Zhaoyou ended the call and walked toward him.
Lin Yi and Qu Xuanhe waited in place for him to arrive.
“Director Lin, it’s no wonder you’ve built such a large enterprise,” Wu Zhaoyou complimented,
“Even as a billionaire entrepreneur, you’re still so punctual. Compared to the newcomers, they are far behind you.”
“Secretary Wu is too polite. We’re all on the same team here; I naturally take your matters to heart.”
“Haha, if you can say that, I’ll take you at your word,” Wu Zhaoyou said with a laugh,
“There are too many people here; let’s not make a spectacle. I’ve called all of Yang City’s reputable business owners upstairs, so let’s go up and talk. And I know you prefer to keep a low profile, so I’ve already warned them not to disclose your identity, so don’t worry.”
