Chapter 1739: Chapter 1735: I See the Multiverse as a Chessboard (First Update)
This is a towering tree standing amidst the starry sea of blood.
As you fly closer, the entire view is occupied by the trunk of this gigantic tree.
Looking up, you can’t even see the top of the tree, only countless branches stretching out, adorned with bright red fruits.
These fruits emanate faint ghostly flames, and even from afar, one can feel the mysterious energy contained within.
But apart from that, the entire starry sky is silent.
No sound, no waves, not even the background radiation commonly present in the starry sky is found here.
It seems all sound has been absorbed by this towering tree before your eyes, a silence that is terrifying.
Covered in flames, Xue An hovers before the tree, and after sizing it up for a moment, suddenly raises an eyebrow.
"What? I’ve already arrived, and you still refuse to appear?"
As soon as the words fell, a rumbling sound suddenly came from inside the tree, followed by a large hole collapsing on the trunk.
The deep entrance seems like a beast that chooses whom it devours, exuding an ominous aura.
Xue An, however, just sneers coldly, "Playing tricks!"
With that said, Xue An takes a deep breath and then rises, directly flying into the hole.
This is a pure white space, devoid of earth, sun, moon, or any passage of time.
As far as the eye can see there’s only the void of pure white.
It’s like a dreamscape lost beyond time.
But as Xue An appears in this space, everything around him quickly begins to change.
The ground emerges beneath his feet, the sky appears overhead, and exotic flowers begin to bloom.
In an instant, it’s transformed into a picturesque garden with a gentle stream flowing through.
Xue An quietly watches it all, his gaze not on these changes but fixed on a distant pavilion.
Underneath the pavilion, there is a stone table, and a man sits with his back turned, seemingly studying something intently.
Xue An’s eyes gradually brighten.
At this moment, a calm and distant voice comes over.
"Red Lotus Immortal Venerable, I’ve been waiting for you here for quite some time!"
With that said, the person slowly turns around, revealing a face with a dull expression, the features even somewhat blurred.
Then he slightly smiles, "Interested in having a game?"
Xue An’s mouth gradually curls into a smile, "Alright!"
With that, Xue An flashes and in the next moment, arrives opposite the man and sits down.
Placed in front of them isn’t the popular multilayered board of the Multiverse, but the simplest flat chessboard known on Earth.
As Xue An sits down, the Abyssal Master doesn’t hesitate, immediately placing a piece.
Xue An holds the black pieces and unhesitatingly makes his move.
For a time, both sides place their moves rapidly, without any unnecessary conversation.
With their current Divine Sense, playing such a game is hardly a challenge.
Thus, they play faster and faster, until in the end, only the shadows of black and white pieces move like two giant dragons entwined on the chessboard!
After a moment, the chessboard suddenly stagnates.
Looking at the board now, there are very few black and white pieces left, the scores are equal, and it’s still a stalemate.
It unexpectedly turned into a rare draw.
The Abyssal Master keeps his head down, quietly contemplating, then after a long moment looks up at Xue An and smiles.
When he smiles, his unremarkable face suddenly becomes incredibly captivating.
Those eyes are no longer wooden but become extraordinarily brilliant.
"Indeed, you live up to the renowned Red Lotus Immortal Venerable, managing to reach a draw with me!"
"Who said it was a draw?" Xue An says lightly, a flash of light in his eyes.
The white pieces of the Abyssal Master suddenly explode, turning into flying ashes scattered everywhere.
The Abyssal Master remains silent.
Xue An sits calmly in his chair, his face showing no extra expression.
"Good! Very good!" the Abyssal Master suddenly chuckles lightly. Then, with a wave of his hand, the chessboard disappears completely, replaced by a set of exquisite tea set, steam still rising from the teapot.
The Abyssal Master raises his hand to grip the teapot and pours two cups of tea, handing one to Xue An.
Xue An raises an eyebrow slightly.
"No need to worry, I’m too disdainful to poison the tea!" the Abyssal Master says with a smiling face.
Xue An snorts, casually taking it.
The fragrance of the tea is enticing, yet Xue An does not drink, merely staring coldly at the Abyssal Master.
The Abyssal Master sips the tea then softly sighs, "Xue An, do you know what I was just thinking?"
"Thinking about what?"
"I was thinking, if you and I join forces, what would the situation be in the Multiverse?"
Xue An says nothing.
The Abyssal Master continues, "To be honest, before today I didn’t have much of an impression of you. Even though you were once the omnipotent Red Lotus Immortal Venerable of the Multiverse, coming back to life, it was just so-so!"
"But now I’ve changed my mind!"
"Because of this game?" Xue An says lightly.
"Exactly! Because I observe the Multiverse, it’s just like this game, laughable how many self-proclaimed powerful beings are merely pieces on the board and yet are unaware! The only ones truly qualified to be players are you and I!"
With that, an incomparably brilliant light suddenly shoots from the Abyssal Master’s eyes.
"So if you and I join forces, we will surely become the masters of the Multiverse!"
Xue An laughs.
A derisive smile fills his face.
"Sounds appealing, but do you think it’s possible?"
Upon hearing this, the Abyssal Master is slightly taken aback, then shakes his head and sighs.
"Xue An, I thought at our level, we should have discarded those worldly prejudices long ago! After all, what could be more important than one’s own strength?"
"Worldly prejudices?" Xue An’s smile becomes even more chilling, "You kill my clansmen, intend to destroy my clan’s heritage, is this called worldly prejudices?"
The Abyssal Master replies indifferently, "Xue An, you, as an Immortal Venerable, should understand many things cannot be shifted by human will! The disaster of the Hua Clan is their destined calamity, it’s beyond my control, and it’s beyond yours!"
With these words, a brilliant light bursts in Xue An’s eyes, "Destined calamity? Then I want to know, who exactly has the right to determine the calamity for the Hua Clan?"
The Abyssal Master shakes his head, "No need to ask, first I will not tell you, and secondly, it’s not something you can resolve! I can only tell you three words, accept your fate!"
Xue An’s heart trembles, his gaze suddenly becomes incomparably cold.
All the clues originally pointed to this Abyssal Master, but now listening to his words, it seems there is an even deeper existence behind him.
Vaguely, Xue An feels he has finally approached the truth he’s been searching for, touched upon certain secrets that could overturn the Multiverse.
"Accept fate? Haha, if I accepted fate, I’d have long been a skeleton buried on Earth! Whether you speak or not, you, and the ones behind you, I’ve decided to eliminate!"
The Abyssal Master sighs lightly, "Must it be this way? If you and I were to join forces... "
Xue An remains unmoved, interrupting his words directly, "I ask you, is Tian Zena in your hands?"
