Chapter 1264 - 1264: Hunter’s innocence
“So, you are the famous (Red-eyed hunter) hun?”
They had chatted for a little while after he helped her get out of that labyrinth-like alleyway.
And, even though this was his first day in this capital city, he knew the small paths better than she had even after spending more than one and a half decade in this city.
However, this time could be considered a coincidence since both of them had somehow lost their way and ended up in that corner before one another… where she electrocuted him.
“Infamous would be a better word to use, I’d say.”
“Nah. You have a reputation from what I know, hehe.”
He shook his head at the way she laughed like a little girl.
He wasn’t used to sitting in a garden with someone alone like this, but he didn’t think this was a bad thing.
Certainly not with this person.
“Enough about me… why don’t you tell me about yourself, Miss. What do you do?”
“We don’t have time to talk about myself today, Mister Brian Kromet.”
It was evening, they were in a garden, and they were sitting right before the garden lake.
It was the perfect spot to be on a magical evening where the sun was painting the landscape with its orangeness.
The water before them was reflecting the sky, the couples around them were doing the only things that couples would in this beautiful atmosphere, and the very air was filled with the freshness and warmth of evening today.
“Association doesn’t close but the registrations aren’t accepted after Seven. We will have to hurry if you want to finish your work there.”
“Oh! That’s right!”
He had almost forgotten he had some important business to attend to in the adventurer’s association, but thanks to her, he remembered it before it was too late.
“Be glad you told me.”
She stood up from the bench and looked beside her.
“And let’s go. We will have to walk fast.”
The association building wasn’t too far from here, but, with the bustling streets of evening and the certain crowds of these rush hours, it wasn’t going to be easy for them to reach the tall dark hexagonal tower of the adventurers.
“Right.”
After their meeting in that back alley, they talked for a little while the authorities reached the place where they had taken care of those thugs.
She found out he was a famous adventurer that had mostly only worked in the south of the empire before.
There were rumours… tales about a mage wearing a white mask.
Those who knew about this mage, about this devil, knew about the ‘incidents’ and those who had seen him on the field always stayed away from the area he was hunting in.
Not many individuals in the empire’s adventurer community had as Good a reputation as he did even though he was relatively new to this field.
“It’s impressive how I’m in the presence of one of the youngest <A> rank adventurers.”
“And I’m in the presence of a mysterious lady that hasn’t even told me their name yet.”
“Haha, you’re funny.”
She found him cute, unexpectedly so, but the things he did certainly were strangely funny to her.
He was called (Red-eyed hunter), was as cold as a demon that only ever had emotionless eyes, he was infamous for filling a energy beast submission area with near obliterated monster bodies and filling the entire place with monster blood.
There were many bad stories about him, some even considered him to be a demon or demon contractor.
They said he was wearing the mask to hide his true identity, some called him
Red-eyed Rakshasa, but there were only a few who used that uncommon name.
‘But, they all are mistaken.’ She thought as she walked alongside him in the bustling streets of the northern side.
The imperial castle in the centre was shining the same as it did for the last thousands of years, the sky was filled with more birds than usual today, and for some reason… the prices of (Tarragum Silk) had gone down.
“Did someone clear a Tarragum nest?” She mumbled under her breath while taking a turn from the one of the silk shops on the left of the street.
“I did hear the famous [Box] adventurer party had managed to kill a (Tarragum Queen) while coming to the capital. Why do you ask though?”
“Prices don’t go down so suddenly after killing a Queen, dummy.”
“Sorry? I didn’t catch that either.”
“You weren’t supposed to either. And, why do you hear something I say under my breath but not something I’m practically shouting? Or do you play dumb because you know exactly what I said?”
She looked at him with a pouting expression and scanned his face for any red flags, but the beauty hidden under that hood only had a genuinely blank expression.
“I…”
He had no idea what she had just said.
Which more or less gave her the answer she needed.
“Forget it. We’re here so it doesn’t matter anyway.”
After crossing a few streets, after taking a few turns together, after some pointless conversations, and after passing through the garden before the tower, they finally stood before the tall hexagonal tower towering higher than any other building in this holy capital.
“It’s… amazing.”
It was his first time here, and it was obvious from the expression he had right now… an expression only she could see.
“Right? This is certainly better than the other association branches you would see in the other big cities.
The only other place as amazing as this one, I’d say, is the branch on the Island of magic’s wealth.”
She looked up at him with a smile on her face, a kind of smile that even she knew she usually didn’t have for anyone.
‘He’s adorable…’
For the others who knew him from the stories, including her own self from a few hours ago, would only see the rare red eyes he had.
The black hair that was more attractive than they were concerning only complimented his muscular features, and though he did not possess the air of a scholar that most mages did, he was not one of the usual magic users that had to chant long incantations before conjuring even the simplest of magic.
