Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1629: Heavenly Book’s Grand Ambition

Chapter 1629: Heavenly Book’s Grand Ambition

"You admit it so easily after keeping quiet for so long?" Wang Chong asked, looking at Yan Hai strangely.

"The past me is not the same as the current me," she replied. "Anyway, why do you think he’s the one after you? You two don’t seem to have any connections whatsoever."

"That’s not entirely true. He once created a pawn in the lower dimension called Emperor Jia to kill me," Wang Wei explained. "As for the reason? All I’ve been able to deduce is he somehow knows about my future self and has aligned with Grand Dao to deal with me."

Wang Chong groaned: "Things seemed to be getting too complicated for my liking."

"You should be extra careful of him," Maitreya said. "When Supreme Unity and I cleaned up the world during the last era, I noticed a secret faction that had infiltrated more than 70% of the most powerful lineages in the world, and the causality line pointed towards him. Additionally, he seemed to have made a secret deal with Supreme Unity before we sealed him."

Wang Wei squinted. "I will."

"Good. Then, I’ll leave you to your devices." The Buddha left, and everybody felt more at ease.

"Are you staying here, returning to the sect, or taking your position on the court?" Qiyuan asked.

"I still need to continue retreating for a while, and if there is enough time, I need to visit the Sword Path League. It’s time they paid me what I’m owed," Wang Wei said calmly. "Afterward, I should head straight to the court."

"I’ll also be in the league, so you can come visit if you need anything. But don’t disturb me if it’s not important," Yan Hai said.

"I understand."

Everybody teleported away, leaving the young couple to enjoy each other’s company. Time was of the essence, so after talking, planning for the future, and cuddling, they separated to attend to their own affairs. Wu Hong gave Wang Wei a better memory talisman for his [Force Control Skill] cultivation, her experience on mastering the Grand Constructs, and a list of the runes for the upgraded Heaven Deception Array.

Primordial Chaos, Devouring Abyss Forbidden Area:

Heavenly Book floated in front of this creature that was only a gaping mouth with no teeth or face. Staring at the creature’s mouth was like peering into a bottomless abyss. A magical array floated above the creature, and as it slowly rotated, the mouth seemed to be slowly shrinking.

Heavenly Book suddenly opened his eyes as his clone appeared behind him and fused with his main body. ’So, you’re more than just suspicious of me, huh?’ Such tight security only means that Wang Wei was expected to be in trouble. Although he did not expect success for this trial, he analyzed everything to prepare for the next opportunity.

’Is the increase in the foundation pillar such a significant improvement?’ His cloak should have easily deceived the previous Maitreya, but this time, he was immediately noticed as soon as he came close enough.

’This thing really needs a major upgrade,’ Heavenly Book sighed. If he wants to continue operating in the shadows in this era where Saints are more common, he’ll need better ways of remaining undetected. However, Heavenly Book did not immediately act as he was in a crucial moment.

He focused all his attention on the array, slowly fine-tuning and improving it. The mouth slowly shrank until it transformed into a singular, dark, circular rune the size of his palm. "Finally," he grinned. This rune was a momentous event in his grand plan. After so many years of planning, the first significant step was concluded.

Years ago, after Heavenly Book finished his three transcendent foundations, he started his search for his transcendent path. While studying the Dark Truth, he discovered that a powerful entity was battling against the Grand Dao, and their conflicts spread across time and space. After experiencing that level of power, a single thought occupied Heavenly Book: "What if I could swallow that entity?"

This idea was absurd for myriad reasons, but he could not remove it from his head. If he could succeed, he would have the knowledge and resources to skip many steps in the transcendent process. So, despite his best effort to keep these thoughts at bay, Heavenly Book started strategizing.

For this outlandish idea to succeed, he would need two major components: a way to devour the entity and an opportunity. For the former, he searched for a Wonder of Heaven and Earth created from a Genesis Lifeform associated with Devouring. He utilized numerous resources and methods to reawaken the essence of the Genesis Creature from the wonder, which resulted in the creation of this forbidden zone. Finally, he condensed it into a Devouring Rune.

For the second component, Heavenly Book’s plan was luck. With enough fortune and destiny, he planned to find an opportunity to strike. So, he reforged his Heavenly Book to connect to the Chaos Universe and showed him the individual with the most incredible destiny. His original plan was to slowly take the luck of the individual, but as fate would have it, the destined individual was a younger version of the person fighting with Grand Dao.

More importantly, an opportunity actually presented itself to Heavenly Book. Grand Dao chose to use him as a pawn and revealed the information about the Time Nexus. Now, all he needed to do was use the Devour Rune on the younger version during the Time Nexus, and his plan had a high chance of being executed.

Heavenly Book played with the black rune for a few seconds. "Not yet," he muttered. He would be a fool to think this thing would work against a Grand Dao Saint. A Primordial Saint, absolutely, but that’s still a risk. The next step in the plan is to elevate the rune to such a height. The obvious answer would be to use Grand Dao’s help since she seems to encourage Heavenly Book’s actions. However, he would never trust her. The most likely outcome if he used that approach is that Grand Dao swallowed the entity to strengthen itself.

Heavenly Book Paragon opened his book. Just as before, new information emerged after one of the Time Nexus events. However, just before, the process was slow, with only a few words appearing every few minutes. So, he took the time to refine his next step.

According to his original plan, his next target would be the desperate cultivators in the Land of Exile. These people have been planning this invasion for a while, and they were Heavenly Book’s ticket to elevate its rune. However, he now had a better option: the Heaven Cardinal.

Based on the message he sent, it’s apparent that the latter was trying to plan for a future in which he is no longer Grand Dao’s lapdog, but Heavenly Book could not wholly trust him. For all he knows, he might just be Grand Dao’s secret pawn.

’I can first get a power source from him that can safely elevate the rune to a Tribunal Saint Artifact before I use the people from the Land of Exile to reach the Grand Dao Tier. However, I’ll also need another way to verify he did not tamper with it,’ he thought before frowning deeply. According to the original plan, he also needed to purify the rune after scheming against the Land of Exile and even had a plan.

However, Heavenly Book realized there was a significant issue: he had too little time. Wang Wei was growing too fast, meaning he did not have enough time between each Time Nexus. By the time he has purified the Devour Rune, Heaven knows how strong he’ll be.

’What’s the fastest method I can purify this thing twice?’ After thinking about it briefly, he could only think of two methods, and only one was safe and reliable, and that was the Erudite Duchess. They are acquainted, and Heavenly Dao Book owes much of its success to her. And after repaying his karma to her, he kept in contact and exchanged secrets, which even granted him access to the Infinite Library.

She was trustworthy and the kind of person that Heavenly Book didn’t mind owing a debt to. So, he slowly placed the rune inside a box that completely isolated its aura. Such a rune was valuable to any Primordial Saint, and the last he needed was someone to have their eyes on him.

Finally, he contacted the Heaven Cardinal and the Erudite Duchess. It took a while for the cardinal to answer, but the duchess directly told him where he could purify such a high-level item without Grand Dao’s notice, along with a karmic line that indicated his debt.

Meanwhile, the Heaven Cardinal’s reply was also direct, as the latter asked him something in return. A smile crept on Heavenly Book’s face. ’So, he really wants to escape. Interesting.’ The Heavenly Book Paragon then separated four clones. The first went to the location the duchess had notified him of. The second one went to fulfill the cardinal’s demands. The third one searched for a place he could hide the rune once it became so powerful. The fourth one searched for a way to improve the cloak.

Finally, his main body headed to a place where he could find a method to utilize the rune’s power without his body, soul, and [Existence] from collapsing. After all, his goal was like an ant trying to swallow an elephant. Even if he had a way to do it, he might not be able to, or even collapse from the act.
