Chapter 6453: Light and Darkness
Chu Feng felt conflicted, especially after hearing Ye Xiancheng’s words about Song Yun being terminally ill. He recalled Song Yun’s parting words about how they might never meet again.
Song Yun knew her condition the best. Could her condition be truly that bad?
He could tell that Song Yun truly intended to kill the others earlier. Had Xian Miaomiao not stalled her till Heaven Gate was about to close, she would have killed Little Fishy and the others and stolen their legacies.
But at the same time, she used her life preservation means to heal him before leaving.
Chu Feng was in a weakened state earlier, but it was not a threat to his life. He would have recovered in due time. In contrast, Song Yun’s healing energy was extremely potent, to the point where it felt like a waste to use it here.
Song Yun was vicious to others, overlooking past ties as if she had no feelings. But she was earnestly good to Chu Feng. How could he judge something like that?
...
Deep in the Immemorial Cemetery, there had been an intense battle that left many spatial rifts. Anyone else who witnessed this sight would have been horrified. Some of the spatial rifts were large enough to devour entire realms.
Song Changsheng and Tianjian Qingyuan stood in space, their eyes locked on the colossal being falling into deep space. Only when they saw the colossal being’s life being snuffed out and its body disintegrate into ashes did they breathe a sigh of relief.
These two powerful entities sat on the ground and took out their treasures. They were exhausted. Their bodies were trembling so much that they couldn’t even summon the strength to hold their weapons.
They managed to defeat the colossal being by joining forces, but they paid a hefty price for it. Both of them had lost their fighting ability.
“It’s finally over. It wasn’t easy at all,” Tianjian Qingyuan remarked with a sigh. Had Song Changsheng not been here, it was unlikely that she could have defeated the colossal being by herself.
She had no idea why there was such a powerful entity here, but it was fortunate they had won.
“It’s good that you’re here. I wouldn’t have been able to defeat that monster alone,” Song Changsheng said. He shared the same sentiment as Tianjian Qingyuan.
After those two left for the Ninth Galaxy, the strongest person he had met in the world of cultivation was Tianjian Qingyuan. He didn’t expect there to be something even more terrifying in the Immemorial Cemetery. He wouldn’t have been able to deal with it alone.
It could have been due to the joy of victory or the camaraderie built up from their partnership, but Tianjian Qingyuan revealed a rare smile and asked, “What do you intend to do next? Are you heading into the Ninth Galaxy?”
Instead of answering the question, Song Changsheng asked, “What about you?”
“I felt the natural energies in the Ninth Galaxy earlier when Chu Feng’s grandmother opened that gate. It was even more concentrated than it was in the Ancient Era. I have a speculation. Perhaps the weakening of the other eight galaxies has something to do with the Ninth Galaxy,” Tianjian Qingyuan said.
Song Changsheng narrowed his eyes. “Are you saying that the Ninth Galaxy is absorbing the energies of the other eight galaxies?”
“It is possible,” Tianjian Qingyuan replied.
“I’m curious to know what happened in the final years of the Ancient Era.”
“I’m curious to know, too.”
“You don’t know?”
“I can’t remember. It’s as if something has sealed my memories. In fact, a lot of my memories have become blurry.”
“I’ll go to the Ninth Galaxy,” Song Changsheng suddenly said.
“Hm?” Tianjian Qingyuan was surprised by the sudden declaration.
Song Changsheng smiled. “I’m preparing to head to the Ninth Galaxy. Someone told me that we’re being limited by the eight galaxies, and only by entering the Ninth Galaxy can we shake free these restraints. I doubted his words, but I believe it now.”
Tianjian Qingyuan remarked, “Your friend has quite the foresight.”
“I’ll introduce you to him if there’s a chance, but you have to be mentally prepared,” Song Changsheng said.
“Mentally prepared?” Tianjian Qingyuan was confused.
“He is a charming man, unlike me. I heard all the women he met have fallen for him.”
Tianjian Qingyuan chuckled. “I didn’t think you would be the kind to crack jokes.”
Song Changsheng innocently replied, “I’m not joking.”
“Is that so? That makes me even more curious.”
Boom!
A loud explosion suddenly echoed from the horizon.
Song Changsheng and Tianjian Qingyuan immediately looked over. To their horror, the tribute formation didn’t dissipate. Instead, its red light was flickering with greater frequency than before.
“What’s going on?”
Song Changsheng and Tianjian Qingyuan felt uneasy. They thought the colossal being was behind the tribute formation, and slaying it would resolve the crisis. But that didn’t happen.
Perhaps the colossal being was not the mastermind behind the tribute formation.
...
On Chu Feng’s side, other than Xian Miaomiao and those who were recuperating, everyone else was looking at the sky with frightened eyes.
The tribute formation had enveloped the entire Immemorial Cemetery, and each time the red light flickered, the crowd felt like their souls would be siphoned away.
In their panic, the crowd turned to Chu Feng. They couldn’t think of anyone else who could resolve this crisis. But what they saw left them confused.
Chu Feng’s head was lifted, but his eyes were closed. Only upon sensing the crowd’s gaze did he open his eyes. “Don’t worry, I have already found the opening in the tribute formation. There is no need to find the mastermind to decipher the tribute formation.”
“R-r-really?” Wang Qiang asked.
The others looked at Chu Feng with skeptical but hopeful eyes. It would be amazing if that were true.
“Of course.” Chu Feng was confident.
He took some time to construct a formation.
The formation consisted of two parts. One encompassed a vast area and contained many formation cores. The other was the size of a jar but contained tremendous energy comparable to a realm. The formation occasionally emanated a golden glow, though it was impossible to peek into it.
The crowd quickly realized that the formation’s golden glow and the tribute formation’s red light appeared at the same time, as if they were synchronized. Yet, they gave off different feelings, as if light and dark, good and evil.
