“So what if I met her?” Chu Feng asked.

From that, he understood that Jie Tianran had met Shangguan Fengquan as well.

“Did you choose ‘nurture’ because Shangguan Fengquan wrote the word with more force? If so, I should let you know that you have chosen wrong,” the entity said.

Chu Feng scoffed, “Yet another fellow who is full of himself. You don’t look like someone from the present era. Your years must be numbered now?”

“We’ll see if you have the ability to pull that off,” Chu Feng replied as he continued forming hand seals.

His sprout swiftly grew into a towering tree over a thousand meters tall.

On the other side, Jie Tianran’s egg hatched into a red monstrous beast, and it grew to over three hundred meters tall. It was smaller than Chu Feng’s massive tree, but it exuded greater power.

But there was a fundamental difference between the two.

The energy emanated by Chu Feng’s tree became increasingly concentrated as it matured, whereas the red monstrous beast didn’t wield such a power.

Instead, the red monstrous beast opened its mouth wide and devoured the surrounding energy. The amount of energy it devoured was nowhere close to the amount harnessed by Chu Feng’s tree, but it allowed the red monstrous beast to evolve.

The red monstrous beast started with a single mouth, but as it devoured more energy, three more mouths grew on the back of its head. Eventually, its eyes, nose, and ears disappeared in favor of growing more mouths.

Despite its increasingly hideous appearance, it was becoming more powerful.

Chu Feng’s massive tree soon grew to over ten thousand meters tall. Its leaves glowed, and its branches swayed ever so slightly. Its presence changed the surrounding air as if a divine tree.

Meanwhile, Jie Tianran’s red monstrous beast grew to over a thousand meters tall. The energy it harnessed was still weaker than Chu Feng’s massive tree, but it was starting to get close.

But there was only so much energy in this realm. The energy available for the red monstrous beast to devour grew less and less.

An explosion could be heard, and the realm began to collapse in on them.

Wen Xue turned to Jie Tianran and roared, “Stop absorbing your energy! Your hideous monster is absorbing the very foundation of this realm!”

A spatial rift suddenly appeared. It was a spirit formation gate.

“It looks like we have cleared the test,” Wen Xue said in delight.

Even though the realm was collapsing on them, they could leave before it reached them. They might have chosen different methods, but Chu Feng had clearly obtained more energy. Even if they left now, they would still wield the advantage.

Chu Feng changed his hand seal, and the massive tree began to miniaturize. He planned to take the massive tree out of here, for he sensed that the tree’s energy would play a role later on.

Jie Tianran flitted toward the spirit formation gate, and the hideous red monstrous beast followed him like a pet. Just as he was about to enter the spirit formation gate, he suddenly stopped, turned around, and formed a hand seal.

The red monstrous beast transformed into a massive mouth and exerted a strong suction force, directed at Chu Feng’s massive tree.

Chu Feng’s massive tree began losing its energy to the red monstrous beast.

Chu Feng frowned. He hurriedly formed a hand seal to stop the red monstrous beast. It worked, but its effectiveness was limited.

The entity beside Jie Tianran sneered, “Chu Feng, do you think Jie Tianran and I can’t tell that we can obtain more energy from ‘nurture’? But this trial is more than just a test; it’s a reflection of the world of cultivation.
